M6 was a pleasant one night stay for my pup and I. There was a bit of a kerfuffle between guests in the morning about parking but that didn’t bother us. Staff were friendly. Other than offering a milk bone when we checked in there was nothing special or dog friendly about the place. More than being a great doggie hotel it’s better categorized as a good deal for accommodations this close to the beach/ocean. For a short stay, I’d book again.

Just one block from the beach, I scored a room with a view of the ocean. My dog settled in right away, and the accommodations were comfortable. The new-ish renovation has a 1960's retro vibe in keeping with the very first Motel 6's history.
You are an easy walk to shops and restaurants (my old guy loved promenading in his dog stroller) - there are a ton of places nearby with outdoor dining. We even met some friendly dog owners at nearby Chase Palm Park.
My only complaint is there was a faint smell of cigarettes, which seemed like was steeped into the walls from years ago. I ended up getting an air freshener from the nearby Rite Aid and that helped eliminate the smell.

Piper and I had been evacuated from our cottage in Montecito due to the Atmospheric River… storms! We stayed 3 nights at this Motel 6 and it was lovely to be warm and dry. Staff was nice and the coffee was hot. Very walkable to enjoy the beaches and restaurants when the weather is good!

We stayed at this location many years ago, and it was worn down then, but the location a stone’s throw from the beach couldn’t be beat, coupled with its pet-friendly policy. Appreciate that they don’t charge extra! When I recently started traveling to SB for work, I checked them out and was delighted to find that they’d recently remodeled and leaned into the retro ‘mid century mod’ vibe of the year they were founded! (This is the first Motel 6 in the world, for anyone who may not know!) The room is small, but excellently laid out, and very, very clean - and I’m kinda a clean freak! When I opened the door to the bathroom, I got the faint scent of bleach, which I loved - clearly, they are disinfecting! Decor is adorable (I wanted to buy the fridge!) and the bed is comfortable. If there were one thing I’d ask for it would be a microwave, whether it’s in the room or front office. But not a deal breaker, by any means. Thanks, Motel 6. We’ll definitely be back!

The location is walking distance to the beach and beautiful surroundings. I can hear the ocean in my room. The room is cheerfully decorated and clean with a fridge and microwave for added convenience. It was so comfortable for me and my dog, plus located near dog friendly restaurants, I decided to stay an additional night.

So many dog friendly places were sold out for our last minute weekend. My expectations weren't good for Motel 6 but I was very wrong! Stayed with my teen and small dog and we were more than pleasantly surprised. Cute mod room, very clean and we even had a view of the ocean. Rooms are small as many mention but who wants to hang out in a room when in such a stunning area? Simple walk to the beach and coast trail but need to drive or bike to downtown. For us the location was great. Felt safe, friendly staff and we would for sure stay here again!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Motel 6. It is less than a block from Santa Barbara's East and West beaches. While dogs aren't allowed on those beaches, there are multiuse paths right beside the beach where we were able to walk our dog (and run in the morning). The room was very efficiently designed. Even though it was small the way they had furnished it made it feel big enough for two of us and our dog. The room was modern and everything felt clean. I appreciated the bright colors, hardwood floors and the shelves and drawers that actually made the space enough. There are no coffee pots in the room, but we brought our own. The pool closes at dark. You have to ask for housekeeping if you want it during your stay (which is fine, but important to know). They did a good job when they came.

This place is well designed, clean, and cute. It is also in a great location half a block to the beach and surrounded by upscale resorts. Too bad it was too loud at night. We didn't get to sleep until 3am. between late night check-in upstairs who decided to unpack and drag their suitcases around the room and due to partiers sitting on the staircase and talking loudly for hours despite being asked to stop. This place could be great if the management posted and enforced quiet hours. As it is, we paid for two nights, but ended up taking an afternoon nap day two and leaving before nightfall to go back home early. If you want to sleep during the day and party at night or if you are having an afternoon rendezvous, this place would be fine. But if you want to sleep at night, forget it. Our dog didn't like all the noise either.

This is the best Motel 6 I’ve seen. Cute room, great shower and only a block from the wonderful Santa Monica beach strip. I’d happily stay here again.

The trip went as planned. The room was fine, I had my pug in tow and everything was clean and nice.
Free coffee is offered in the office each morning and although it's close to the beach, Santa Barbara is not known for great beaches, they are nice to look at but have few waves, the water is cold, etc. Coming from San Diego, I already knew this but the downtown is beautiful and it's fun to walk State St. - KarenNov 8, 2022Great location

Room was clean, love the decor. Soft comfy pillows; I usually bring my own blankets and pillows as most places do not wash blankets and quilts on every stay. However, everything was white, so it is easy to discern if they were not clean. Very sixties chic. Big walk-in shower. Literally 2 minutes from the beach. Best of all you can bring your dog(s). It’s way cheaper than most the hotels there. Really enjoyed my stay.

The unit was very clean. We had ground floor #115. Beds were comfortable. Location excellent, walk to the beach. Coffee or tea every morning. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our week there with our doggie.

Very friendly staff and located a block from the beach. This is a small, quiet motel with plenty of off-street parking. We walked a block to get to the beach for our morning walk. Definitely would stay here again.

Motel was clean and in a great location, but there was a nasty domestic dispute in the room next to ours around 2 AM. Hotel management wouldn’t do anything about it so my dog and I checked out and drove the rest of the way home in the middle of the night.

Although the room was small, it so clean. From the front of the hotel you have a view of the ocean. We had a room in the back which worked out find since the doggie potty area was right there. We walked to the pier and near by restaurant. I was disappointed that I was told the dogs were allowed in the pool area, then once we were there we couldn’t take them in. So we didn’t enjoy the pool.

This Motel 6 was the best I’ve ever stayed at! The location is beautiful, just 1/2 block from the beach. A bit of a walk to State Street which was perfect as we enjoy walks. I’m sorry I didn’t get his name, but someone from the hotel called me the morning of our arrival day to let us know our room was clean and ready so we could check in early if we’d like. This was SO lovely to be able to get settled in early for our unfortunately short one night stay. The room seemed recently renovated with new retro style decor, very efficient furnishings, and clean white linens. Not a large room but perfect for what we needed. No extra pet fee and very reasonably priced. We will be back whenever we are lucky enough for another trip!

It's a Motel 6, so it was clean, updated and as advertised, close to the ocean! Plus we had a ocean view room, which was fantastic, too. But beware, they are small rooms with no real sitting chair or sofa, so not as comfortable as other hotel rooms. Coffee in the office in the morning, no micro or fridge, but adequate if you plan on being outside most of the time. Pool was closed for reconstruction, so no use of that during this trip. Overall not a bad place to stay on a budget and they are pet friendly.
