  Stay away!

  We were severely disappointed in this property. It was expensive ($80) compared to other Motel 6 properties, it was old and featureless. The beds were uncomfortable and the bedding was very thin, especially for 37-degree weather. The two beds were CRAMMED into the room, right against the HVAC on one side and the wall on the other. There was no microwave or fridge in the room, which we usually have at properties half the price.

  The rooms were outdated with no modern amenities like easily available power plugs for your electronics (or CPAP in my wife's case). The property is minimally maintained. The bathroom had a funky smell, toilet barely flushed, the shower was small and cramped and the sink was on top of the counter and left no counter space. There was no place to put the suitcase to open it.

  All these little things that you take for granted and almost any motel. But there were ZERO places for our pets to "do their business." When they tried going in the dirt strip that surrounds the property, it was covered entirely in "bullhead" thorns. Not just a few, but everywhere. No other place in this 'armpit' of a town was any better.

  The lady at the desk though was great. No complaints there. Can't fault her for the condition of the property as I'm sure she just works there. Still, will never return to Santa Rosa, stop at Tucumcari instead.

  Decent for the price

  This is one of the better Motel 6s that we’ve been to. There are lots of grassy areas, but the dog bags were all empty. As we were walking our dogs, though, some staff gave us really dirty looks even though our dogs were leashed and well-behaved.

  It was a bed

  The place was neat but not necessarily clean. There was a dead cockroach in the bathroom. My pup peed on the floor so as I was wiping it up the dirt that was on the cloth wasn't from me. Yuck. Who knows when the floors had actually been washed? The flooring was laminate so I guess they figured dry mop is fine but it's not. Vending machines in lobby were out of order and the pool that was steps from the door was covered over and it's July and a heatwave. It was a bed and a stop in my long trip but not worth the price.

  Disappointing

  No hot water, room wasn't too clean. Pet area was only rocks.

  You get what you pay for

  At least you would hope so. Not that it wasn’t clean but everything was old in the room and looked that way. No way I was taking a shower. The shower stall appeared dreary and beyond the point of looking clean even if it was. I don’t think that Fido minded though, but not sure!

  Great stay

  I found the room and property is well kept condition. The woman that helped me at the counter (I believe the owner) was very nice. Will stay there again on my way through.

  Won't come back

  It's the second time our experience with Motel 6 was very disappointing. I know Motel 6 is a budget motel but cleanliness is easily attained if management cares. The mattresses were so old the springs were jabbing into us.

  Goatheads a real hazard to dogs

  Not suitable for dogs. The dog relief areas were full of goatheads (an invasive plant species with sharp spikes on little balls). Some of the spiky spurs lodged onto my dog’s paws when he went to potty and were painful to remove. It would have been worse if he swallowed one of them as the plant is also toxic to dogs. The motel and room were nothing to write home about. No basic amenities like shampoo (only a bar of soap) or coffee in the room. Poorly insulated which sucks in winter. Noisy too due to the freeway next to the rooms in the rear.

  Really needs an update

  Check in was pleasant, room was tired and in need of an update. Coffee in the morning was not made until I asked, then had to wait over 10 minutes.

  Wouldn’t recommend, but clean

  Bone for cleanliness and staff was nice. Otherwise a thumbs down. Phoebe got thorns stuck in her paws every time she tried to pee on the brush in many different places. Didn’t get the room I reserved (unavailable). Most uncomfortable mattress but it was flat which my car is not. Needs warmer blankets especially in winter. My key didn’t work so I walked back to the front, staff no where to be seen for several minutes until I called the front desk on my cell.

  Very rundown and old looking driving into it

  The room was clean, very old, small, and we wouldn’t use the shower. Bathroom floor old. Very basic motel. No Kleenex or hairdryer. Bed linens very old!! No pet charge but after tax it wasn’t a cheap room.

  Bad

  We’ve stayed at several Motel 6 locations in the last year and expect bare bones but have been pleasantly surprised at how clean and updated they were… until this one. This Motel 6 is one of the old ones that hasn’t been updated and carries on the bad rep. Flooring was cracked, showers were corner stalls with no room and the flooring was stripped, mattresses were flat/hard/old and uncomfortable, bathroom plumbing leaked and smelled bad, lots of road noise from the highway, and the parking lot is an absolute nightmare if you have a trailer or anything bigger than a minivan.

  Nice staff, poor location

  Next to the highway, was loud. Great DQ in walking distance.

  Go somewhere else

  I've never stayed closer to the interstate before. Room was very poorly insulated, and we listened to trucks rumbling down the interstate ALL night.

  There was also a security light just outside our room, which gave the appearance of daylight ALL night long. Since there was NO clock in the room, it was impossible to tell from the light streaming in whether it was still night or morning.

  The "bath" towels are ridiculously small and very rough. And there are only 2 of them. Not enough for 2 guests - especially when you need 2 per person due to their tiny size.

  The floor was filthy. I wouldn't walk around there barefoot.

  The bed was shoved up against the wall. Sure would have been nice to have a night stand to set my cup of water on.

  The HVAC wouldn't work unless the constant fan was on.

  I could go on, but you get the idea.

  Ok Stay

  There was nothing special about this place. The rooms were kind of small but were clean, new drapes, paint and bathroom looked to be fairly recently done over. Adequately accommodated 2 adults
