Reviews
Visitors find the Moonrise Hotel to be welcoming and accommodating to pets, with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Some guests note the small size of the pet relief area and the lack of pet amenities as advertised, but overall the hotel is praised for its pet-friendly atmosphere.

- ShaundraJan 12, 2023Beautiful and spacious!
Excellent location, and friendly welcoming staff! Dog biscuits upon arrival was a hit with our German Shepard.
- MelindaSep 18, 2022Grrreat stay!!
Doggie treats as soon as we checked in and my dog watched where they came from. So needless to say he asked for them every time we walked by the front desk. The girls were always eager to accommodate him each time. Friendly staff and lots of eating options nearby.
- BethSep 3, 2022Completely Welcome
Our large pup was welcomed without a flinch.... Actually with love! We had no concern with anyone there and felt relaxed. However it would be better if the dogs were allowed at least at their rooftop bar 😔. Dog relief area is tiny and was filled with cigarette butts but they did clean it up when I mentioned it
- ErikaMay 9, 2022Definitely recommend this hotel!
Great hotel, excellent service. There is a green artificial grass area right by the entrance for doggie relief. St Louis is beautiful!
- MelissaApr 17, 2022Dogs are definitely welcome
The family (and the dog) were treated very well. The staff is friendly and the rooms are good. The hotel location is also very good. I didn’t give five 5 bones because they could have invested in a better pet relief area - it’s hidden, very small and no grass
- NicoleDec 29, 2021Great, comfortable stay!
We stayed at the Moonrise after a 14 hour car ride with our two big dogs. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Water bowls are provided and we were very happy with our stay.
- TiffaniDec 24, 2021Great for passing through!
This was a great hotel! The “dog relief” area is small but a block behind the hotel is a college campus which had lots of grassy area so that worked well. The beds were comfy and the staff were nice! We didn’t get any treats for the dogs as advertised but we got in at midnight and needed to be on the road early so that’s wasn’t a big deal. I would highly recommend this place!
- JohnAug 24, 2021Cool Place!
We loved this hotel even though the lights went out due to a storm! The staff was very nice. The room beautiful. We got the doggie treats and bowls, but had to ask for them. Previous reviews worried about the neighborhood. This hotel is in the Delmar Loop district in southern St. Louis. It is a funky area and very close to Washington University. It is safe, artsy, and diverse. (I’d love to sample all the restaurants.) There is also plenty of green space for a doggie walk and dump. You just have to go a little ways away from the hotel. The only thing that could make this better is if dogs were allowed on the roof top lounge. We did not go up without the pup :)
- JillJul 25, 2021Fun hotel
Great location, fun hotel, and comfortable bed!!!!
- HaileyJul 18, 2021Pretty nice!
Extremely welcoming to our dogs. The potty area is very tiny. However, we used a grass patch in the valet parking lot to take our dogs to the bathroom. The hotel is extremely beautiful and unique. The bathrooms come with really good travel size toiletries (even a sewing kit). The complimentary coffee is Starbucks. The bed was by far the comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. I’m giving it four stars because the area does not seem safe at night. The limo parked near us had a hole smashed in the windshield the next morning when we checked out, and they did not give any of the dog gifts as listed on the website.
- LindseyJul 7, 2021Will return, but without the doggo
The humans genuinely enjoyed their stay at the Moonrise Hotel. The people amenities were lovely and the roof-top bar is perfect for nice summer evenings. However, we didn't receive any of the listed pet services (treats, bandana, bed, etc.) and the outdoor relief area was tiny and full of dead grass. I definitely recommend staying here, just not with a dog.
- BethJun 14, 2021Great location
Lots of grassy areas in the neighborhood and Forest Park is only a few blocks away. The dog relief area on the property is right outside the door and no grass. Otherwise, we loved the hotel. Only reason for the 4 vs 5 is that the write up said our pup would be provided a bowl, treats and a water bottle. No big deal I guess.
- StevenJun 2, 2021Awesome
Super dog friendly!! Clean and fun.
- KevinAug 4, 2020A charming hotel
A charming hotel that goes out of its way to be dog friendly.
- DanJul 27, 2020Great room, friendly staff and hip location.
We rest enjoyed our stay at the Moonrise Hotel. Fun and funky hotel, and the staff was really helpful. I will defy stay there again when I’m in the area!
- TanyaJun 19, 2020Fantastic hotel
This hotel was a diamond find! Not only did I know immediately my pup and I would be treated well but it was just a spectacular stay for me as well. The human and pup perks were well worth the visit and I would be happy to stay here again. Staff was also very helpful!
- ChrisDec 10, 2019Terrific location!
Staff and accommodations were superb. Highly recommended!!!
- MildredSep 5, 2019Nice hotel
Nice Hotel- beautifully decorated. Comfortable room. Dogs were well treated and welcomed! Excellent location.
- RyanMar 5, 2019Excellent Spoiled Dog Hotel
We stayed there one night and were made to feel at home!! My 2 shiv this didn’t want to leave!! We are in the process of moving across the country and this was our first night in a hotel and lived it!!!! The attention they give to your pet is above and beyond!!!!!
- LindseyDec 27, 2018Excellent
This place truly loves dogs. My dog, Fred, was welcome and treated like royalty. The hotel was also very nice. Sometimes dog-friendly rooms are treated like the runt of the litter, but not at this hotel. Being a “dog boutique” hotel, they pride themselves on ensuring their credibility:
- CyndiSep 9, 2018Unique and Comfortable
We loved the moon themed decor and all the memorabilia - very cool and unique! Our king room was a large size with comfortable bed, chaise lounge, desk, 2 chairs and an ottoman big enough to use as an additional seat. Also had a nice sized refrigerator. Bathroom was large and had great aveda products, nice fixtures, plenty of towels. I didn’t really enjoy the rain shower head style but husband liked it. The tile entry way was perfect for the dog feeding & watering station.
We used the free self parking lot that is right behind the hotel and felt safe leaving our car there. WiFi was free and worked well.
Our stay was a Saturday night and the room was right across from the elevator landing - we did hear some noise from people as they waited and a few of these instances were late at night. Wasn’t too bothersome, though I imagine it could be worse if the weather was encouraging more people to take advantage of the rooftop bar.
We didn’t use room service - the menu was small but looked to have a variety of options.
DOGS: they are dog friendly (not just tolerant) and provided a goodie bag for our Great Dane in the room that included fresh made treats that he loved, pick up bags, travel water bottle, and bowls. The bowls were too small for him but still a nice thought. His name was on the welcome board at the front desk and the staff were all very nice to our big boy. Room had no odd smells or hair so they are putting the pet fee to good use in cleaning. Potty areas are around the block which was a little inconvenient in the drizzle and wind. They do provide nice sized umbrellas both in your closet and down in the lobby.
The area has lots of food options and feels safe. We ordered pizza from Pi and took it back to the room - it was very good! Gabrielle on Jun. 9, 2024 Julie on Oct. 4, 2023 Kathlyn on Jun. 16, 2022 Imran on Jun. 27, 2021 Bryan on Aug. 11, 2020
