The Amantean climate is extraordinarily temperate, thanks to the presence of the Tyrrhenian sea: the territory of Amantea, in fact, has an average depth of only two kilometers towards the hinterland and instead winds along the sea for over thirteen kilometers. This ensures a very long duration of the good season: sometimes the summer lasts from April to November. In summer, therefore, sea and hill breezes that cool the air are dominant. Frosts are very rare, as are snowfalls, caused by the proximity to the inland coastal chain.
Even in autumn and winter there is the possibility to visit, at just one hour by car, the nearby mountain of the GRANDA SILA and the PICCOLA SILA with national parks and various entertainment activities and also for those who want to practice skiing activities on the snow. Always, and also in the autumn-winter seasons, you have the opportunity to taste the many products of the various typical festivals and characteristics of the place. Province of Cosenza:
Brettii and Enotri Museum of Cosenza which boasts a vast archaeological collection from the city and from different locations in its province;
Roman and pre-Roman archaeological ruins of Piazzetta Antonio Toscano in the historic center of Cosenza;
excavations of the ancient cities of Thurii and Sibari;
excavations of Laos, near Santa Maria del Cedro;
Grotta del Romito in Papasidero: prehistoric cave with engravings dating back to the Upper Paleolithic;
Blanda ancient rock city, which remains some ruins and testimonies of the place, at the gates of Tortora;
Temesa, excavations in the territory of Serra d'Aiello and Campora San Giovanni, places of testimony from protohistory to the medieval age. In the municipality of Serra d'Aiello there is the Archaeological Park of Cozzo Piano Grande, where a Brettian dwelling was found. The municipal archaeological antiquarium is open to the public all year round.
Castle of Amantea. The Castle dominates the town from the top of the hill, with the Mastio tower in the center and the ruins of the old Church of San Francesco d'Assisi (perhaps ex-mosque) not far away. From the studies of Enzo Fera the coastal defense system built between 1100 and 1600 AD has been reconstructed. C.
Numerous, in fact, there are towers and fortifications that make the area an area once very well guarded against the incursions of Barbary corsairs.

The historic center of Amantea, clinging to the cliff of the Castle, although not particularly vast, is certainly of great tourist interest both for the presence of monumental buildings and great views, and for the characteristics of the urban settlement.
The town stands in a dominant position on the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the coastal plain of alluvial origin: surrounded by walls until the 19th century, the position was one of the strongest in Calabria Citra. It is inevitable that first the Byzantines, and then the Arabs, thought of fortifying this natural citadel, making the town develop on the steep slope. Before the old route of the main road 18 Tirrena Inferiore was opened in the thirties of the twentieth century, the historic center was practically completely closed to motor vehicle traffic. Still in the 21st century, the access paths to the ruins of the Castle and the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi are dirt paths that are difficult to walk even on foot, and a good part of the historic center, around the Church of Sant'Elia and the ex- College of the Jesuit Fathers.

On March 27th the birth of Saint Francis is celebrated, while on April 2nd (canonical feast of the Saint of Paola) death is celebrated. The solemn celebrations in honor of San Francesco di Paola are held from 1 to 4 May, with several processions on land and sea of the "bust" of the Saint and the cloak. Tradition has it that a boatman refused to ferry San Francesco from the Calabrian coast to Messina and the Saint crossed the strait with his own cloak. San Francesco was proclaimed not only patron of Calabria but also patron of seafarers.
