  Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and great for the dog. Breakfast was OK, Pet relief area was artificial sod and didn’t smell the best but there was gravel right next to it for her to do her business.

  Nice but rude front desk

  Upon entering, I was greeted by front desk staff. When I asked a simple question, I was surprised how short and rude she was. I inquired about whether a cat was in the room I was about to be in due to an allergy. She snapped and said there was no way for her to know that. I said another La Quinta I stayed in was able to do so. I just asked because when it happened before, I had to move rooms and thought it might just be easier to ask ahead of time. She was not having it. Hopefully she was just having a bad day and I was her punching bag. Room was nice, clean. Breakfast was good. Great place to stay with pets. Pet relief area was picked up for the most part. Pleasantly surprised as other hotels had disgusting areas.

  Astroturf area with bags. Nice grass at McDonalds close by. Hotel was clean, nice room, good breakfast. Good food from Blake’s Lotaburger.

  Great stay

  We had a great night at this hotel. It was clean all the way around -- parking lot, front area, breakfast area, room, beds, doggy area. It felt very safe also. Breakfast was very good. Really appreciate that La Quinta hotels are dog friendly, and this one was exceptional. Nice area for the dogs, fairly big dedicated area (compared to others) with astro turf. Poop bags available and the area was super clean. We were impressed with this hotel.

  Room was clean and good. Water pressure good, the only thing that was disappointing is that we requested a room on first floor but got second floor.

  Great room and bed

  Room was on the 2nd floor. Lots of other dogs. Great relief area for pets just outside the door downstairs. Bed was newer and very comfortable. One staff person made the experience less pleasant, she was brash upon check-in. Then when I called about the tv not working, she just said there wasn’t anything she could do and very brusquely hung up. I’d stay there again, but I hope I don’t run into the same staff member.

  Perfect for a bigger dog

  There is a dirt road (path) next to and behind the building and no cars on the street in front of the building. It was a clean updated hotel.

  Dirty and run down

  This location was not up to par! Even though we needed a room for pets we felt like we were all staying in a kennel. Room was dirty, furniture was filthy and destroyed, and even walls were dirty. Do not recommend.

  Room was clean, but the chair looked like cats used it for a scratching post. Hotel states pets are not allowed to be left alone in the room, which made eating out not an option.

  The property was clean and quiet. There is a small turf area for doggy relief. The old K-Bobs steakhouse has been reopened under a different name so there is a decent place to eat nearby.

  Great dog area

  Nice stay, we had heard that they would give out treat bags. None for us. The front desk gave us our key, and we walked in on someone else already booked into that room. They fixed it immediately, I just hated it for the people already settled into the room. The front desk apologized and gave us another room. Great stay but we were by the exit door and it was a little noisy. Good breakfast, very clean rooms, and comfortable bed.

  They are in the midst of a big remodeling project, so a bit of a mess up front/breakfast area etc. But clean and well-kept. We would stay again, which is the real litmus test of these reviews.

  Okay but not great

  We’ve stayed here before and had been happy. However, this time it’s needing some TLC, though there appears to be efforts to begin refurbishing. There are still problems with the heating system not regulating well; slow, slow elevator the efforts need to be stepped up. Also, the one tiny soap provided is ridiculous; I had to ask for not one but at least two more so my husband and I could take a shower and wash our faces and hands.

  We arrived with our confirmation number and our trip no. to find that they didn't have anything on us. The woman behind the counter just didn't really care. She was rude and made it apparent that she didn't feel like searching further for the number I handed her with our "proof" from BrindFido. Had the Best Western not taken us in because we had a dog, I don't know what we would have done as it was VERY full all over town with Spring Break "snowbirds" coming home. What a mess!!!!

  Fine for 1 night stay

  This location was totally fine for what we needed it for - 1 night on the road with our dog. The pet floor is the 2nd floor, and there were a bunch of other folks with dogs. The back staircase leads right downstairs to the pet area. The room is no frills, but fine for one night. There weren't a whole lot of areas where I felt comfortable to walk the dog around the hotel (mostly rocky) besides the pet area. We grabbed some to-go cereal from the breakfast in the morning. The doors close really loudly so we could hear whenever people were coming or going around us on the floor. Ultimately, it was fine for us with the dog, but I wouldn't stay here again if we didn't have our dog with us. We could only find 1 local restaurant that was open at night for take-out, and we waited 45 minutes for a grilled cheese before we canceled the order and left. The only other open restaurant options were fast food.

  Glad to have this available as we travelled across the country. The pros: good water pressure, hot water, clean room, easy check-in, room darkening shades. The cons: no greenery or anywhere to walk the dog (or ourselves) in the vicinity, small rock area close by (part of the Holiday Inn chain) was covered in dog poop, which is fun to navigate at night, older rooms with older furnishings. This is a very basic lodging choice with absolutely no frills.

  Exceptionally clean with welcoming staff

  After a long day of driving, it's so great to arrive at a clean, cozy hotel where the staff is welcoming and happy to greet us and our dogs. We slept so well here in the comfy room and had a good hot breakfast in the morning before we continued our trip. Thanks to the wonderful staff for this oasis in the desert.

  Great hotel & staff!

  I drove from Arkansas to New Mexico with a new dog I picked up. I was exhausted and Alicia at the front desk was amazing, kind and accommodating. The hotels rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. They have dog facilities, and easily accessible stairwells for larger dogs. I will definitely stay here again!

  Problem with reservation at Tucumcari

  We reserved a pet friendly room AND a handicapped accessible room. Confirmation said this was what we were getting. Room 103 did not have a handicapped accessible bathroom.

  The hotel smelled musty and much of the hotel is outdated. However, it was hassle free and overall fit my needs for a night stop on a long road trip.

  Staff friendly and helpful. We had our dog and was on the 2nd floor. Room was clean. A facing west window which means summer sun. The room was extremely warm when we arrived because curtains didn't completely close. We were able to handle the issues on our own.

  A very good overnight stop with two dogs

  We stayed overnight at this La Quinta on our way home east on I-40 based on the BringFido reviews, and had a good nights' sleep. While I prefer the La Qunta's with linoleum floors, our carpeted room was very clean and did NOT smell like a dog!! We had a good size room where we easily tucked our two crates over the the side and had a lot of spare room to walk around in. The property seemed very new with a lot of outlets in our room to plug in chargers. Bathroom was very clean and had all promised amenities. Check in was a little slow due to a situation out of anyones control but both receptionists were very kind and apologetic. Later, they both gave us good local food recommendations. The outside pet area was a good sized area covered in some sort of artificial grass and as it seemed very absorbent, I thought it was ideal for pets. The parking lot, while not huge, was well lit and provided enough sidewalks for walks. Pet refuse bags were generously provided. Breakfast was basic but ample in supply. I would stay here again for an overnight visit. I felt many of the guests would agree as many were there with pets and all seemed very happy.

  Rooms were okay, location is great, walls are typically thin. We saw lots of dogs in the hotel but didn't hear them as badly as other places we've stayed.

  Nice building but thin walls

  This bldg was very clean and looked relatively new. I’m happy it was dog friendly but the structure was paper thin. We could hear ppl above and below us and every little noise outside of our door. I would’ve given it a 5 bone review if it had thicker walls. Also, there was only one elevator in the whole bldg. Very inconvenient when you have 2 dogs and a lot of luggage.

  We have stayed at other La Quinta hotels with our dog and been very satisfied. This one was very disappointing. Our room had a faint odor of smoke and a STRONG odor of dog urine. I thought the $20 up charge for a pet was to deep clean the rooms before the next guest came? Coffee maker was broken in room. Air conditioning was loud and walls were thin.

  Staff was so friendly, room was very nice and extremely clean. Not many grassy areas for the dog, so if yours is like mine and prefers doing business on grass (as opposed to dirt) it might be a little tough.
