        Great weekend!

We were here in June 18, 2016 and the 19th. We have been here a few timed now and we love It! Staff is very nice and accommending. When we went to check in our room was not ready yet. One of dog's med is refrigerate and the staff said they would refrigerate it for me. Another plus is that my dog could sit by the pool with me but was not allowed in the pool. I have never been to a place that allowed this. Our king room was spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows very comfortable. They go over all the pet rules and polices and you sign a paper about the rules so I don't know why the other person was upset about it because they were informed. This is a great place!

        Not Pet Friendly

A friend and I stayed at the 1863 Inn at Gettysburg, based upon BringFido's reviews as being pet friendly. We had a painful and pricy experience and hope that other pet owners are aware of the possible impacts. We stayed during Veteran's Day. My friend decided to bring his small dog as he was not able to get kennel space in time. We had planned a ghost hunt with one of the local Gettysburg ghost tours for that evening (11:30pm - 2am). We spoke with the front desk before heading out to the ghost tour and provided a cell number should there be any difficulties with the dog. They were told to call us immediately if there are any problems, and if so, we would drop everything and get back to the hotel promptly. We received no phone calls so we anticipated everything went smoothly. Unfortunately it was not the case. First we received a wake up call for roughly 7am, which we did not order. Approximately 30 minutes later we received a call from the front desk to please come down to discuss a situation with the dog. My friend said he would be down there in a bit. He went to walk the dog quickly and returned to the room to find a note on the door stating to please come to the front desk. As he was preparing to head down to the front desk, we received a second phone call from the front desk. He went to the front desk and we were notificed that someone complained about the the barking/wimpering in the room and they were asked to be moved into another room. The 1831 Inn stated due to the difficulties we had to pay for the other room as well. We agreed to cover the price, and told them that we will find remove the dog from the property. We then drove home, placed the dog in a kennel that finally had availability and returned to 1863 Inn. We figured everything was under control. Well that was not the case. Last week, my friend received a fine from the Gettysburg Animal Control regarding the dog staying at the 1863 Inn. The front desk never told us that the police arrived at some point during the evening; AND, the front desk never called us that there was a disturbance while we were on the ghost hunt. So leaving the dog alone for roughly 3 hours cost and additional $300. The 1863 Inn is NOT pet friendly!

        Love this Place

We've stayed here three years in a row and they've taken great care of us and our pooches each year. Breakfast and 24 hour coffee, tea and hot chocolate is great. We love sitting in the lobby, drinking something hot, playing games, reading, talking and relaxing after long days touring the battle fields. It's location right near Cemetery Hill in no man's land is great also.

        Great Experience

We stayed here in August, and the staff was very accomodating to us and our 80 pound pointer. The rooms were clean and the buffet breakfast was delicious.

        Not friendly any more

Rooms smelled like mice. Rude staff. Poor continental breakfast. Rates $25 more than noted on this site plus additional 20 for my 4 pound Pomeranian.
Would not stay here again unless NO other options.
Maids with carts start rumbling up and down at 7am and dont just go by once, but over and over so no one can sleep in.
The Travelodge down the road is a better choice.

        Nice stay

The rooms are comfortable, clean with enough space for a dog. Nice bathrooms. Somewhat noisy on the road side, better to take a room in the back. The continental breakfast was lousy, nothing fresh only defrosted food.
Pet fee was nominal and the hotel great for dogs.

        1863 Gettysburg Inn

The hotel was one of the best we've stayed at over the last year. The rooms were very clean and the staff from the receptionist to the cleaning staff are extremely pet friendly. We have made this Inn our Gettysburg place to stay yearly.

Well posted and thoroughly explained info re dog policy. Very modest charge for bringing dog. No problems at all. Worth a repeat visit.
