Charming Front Desk Staff!

Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor

I'm a fan of Aloft Hotels.

I stayed at this Aloft near the end of an 18-day roadtrip with my sweet dog. It was wonderful.

The room was typical Aloft: upscale and comfortable.

The front desk staff at both check-in and check-out were among the most charming people I met on the entire trip. They treated me like family, and I loved that feeling -- especially appreciated after a long day of driving.

Parking is free and plentiful.

On a future trip to Syracuse, Aloft would be my #1 choice.

Good Place for My Sweet Dog and Me

Sonesta Simply Suites Cleveland North Olmsted Airport

After a positive experience at a Candlewood in the Chicago area the previous evening, my sweet dog and I stayed at this Candlewood while on an 18-day roadtrip. It did not disappoint:

*comfortable bed w/ quality bedding (sheets and pillows)

*kitchenette complete with refrigerator for things like orange juice

*adequate bathroom

*quiet

We're not the only fans of Candlewood, as the hotel was quite full! After this roadtrip, I can certainly see why...

Worked Well for my Sweet Dog and Me

Sonesta Simply Suites Chicago Naperville

This was the first Candlewood Suites that I ever visited, and I must say: I was rather impressed.

I was on an 18-day roadtrip with my sweet dog, and Candlewood met our needs quite nicely:

*quality bedding

*kitchenette for things like orange juice

*adequate bathroom

*quiet

The pooch and I both slept well, and we awoke refreshed and ready to take on our day!

Based upon our good experience at Candlewood, we stayed at another Candlewood the next night of our roadtrip in Cleveland...

Pretty Nice! Sketchy Neighborhood, Though...

Best Western Plus JFK Inn & Suites

This is the first Best Western 'Plus' that I have stayed in, and it's definitely a step above your standard Best Westerns.

My room was tastefully appointed with the good-quality bedding (sheets and pillows) that you will find at all Best Westerns. I slept well.

The parking lot is well-lit, which is good because North Little Rock can be sketchy. That said, the hotel is located across the street from the police department (and just off the interstate, by the way).

I was visiting a friend who lived about 13 minutes from the hotel, so its location worked well for me.

On a future visit to Little Rock, I might look at staying elsewhere -- mostly as a point of comparison. That said, there is certainly nothing wrong with this Best Western unless you are looking for restaurants and entertainment within walking distance.

Very Nice!

Aloft Austin Northwest

Spent five nights at this Aloft during an 18-day roadtrip with my sweet dog. Enjoyed my time here very much.

Staff members were warm and friendly. Room was typical Aloft: upscale and nice.

The water and dog bones in the lobby are a wonderful reminder that Alofts welcome dogs. I love it!

Parking was free and plentiful.

I would not hesitate staying in this Aloft again on future visits to Austin.

Maybe Look Elsewhere?

Best Western Executive Inn

I stayed at this Best Western on night #4 of an 18-day road trip with my sweet dog.

It was the second most disappointing hotel of the entire trip.

First, a bright point: check-in and check-out were terrific with extremely friendly staff members. I always appreciate a smiling face and good attitude.

The room itself was quite basic. That said, the bedding (sheets and pillows) were Best Western quality -- i.e. good. I slept well. And let's face it: That's really what's most important on these roadtrips.

The room was pretty dark. And worst of all: the bathroom. Wow. Worst bathroom of the entire trip, with a shower that would not drain. (Maybe I should have skipped my shower?)

If passing through Marshall, I might try to stay elsewhere before I would return to this Best Western. That said, I found the employees to be very friendly -- and I appreciate their kindness.

Nice, Updated Rooms!

Best Western University Inn

So this Best Western is one of those places that won't charm you at first blush...but, by the end of your visit, you'll be glad you stayed.

I stayed at this Best Western on night #3 of an 18-day road trip with my sweet dog. I pulled into town late (10pm) and was forced to check in through a security window. Maybe it's just me, but that type of setup is off-putting.

Once I got to my room, however, I was pleasantly surprised: The rooms have been recently updated, and they have been tastefully done. I enjoyed my time in the room, and I slept very well.

The next morning, I was able to check out inside the lobby(!) and thus could see how nice it was. I also enjoyed seeing a beautiful picture of the owner's daughter on the wall -- she was Miss Alabama last year. Beautiful young lady.

On a return visit to Tuscaloosa, I would not hesitate staying here again.

It's OK

Best Western Greenville Airport Inn

Those hotel-produced pics are a bit misleading.

I stayed here on night #2 of an 18-day road trip with my sweet dog. The room is pretty basic. That said, I need to give props to Best Westerns:

They seem to have quality standards for their bedding (sheets and pillows) because my road trip proved that no matter how basic the Best Western might be overall, the bedding is quality enough that I slept well.

The room was rather dark and kind of depressed me. However, I appreciated being able to pull my car right in front of my room. Easiest loading and unloading of the entire trip!

Also - the fenced-in dog area was much appreciated the morning before my departure.

I would stay here again if in a pinch; a different, slightly more upscale property would be my preference.

Sooo Dog Friendly!

Aloft Chapel Hill

So this is where I stayed on the very first night of an 18-day road trip w/ my dog. Aloft was a wonderful way to start the trip.

Room (bed and shower) were great.

Front desk staff were great.

And Alofts are incredibly dog friendly with bowls of water and bones in their lobbies. Very sweet touches.

The Aloft is a great pairing w/ Chapel Hill: Both are charming and leave you with a warm feeling.

Take a ‘Hard Pass’ on the 1863

1863 Inn of Gettysburg

I’m at the conclusion of a two week roadtrip. My final night was in Gettysburg at the 1863. Disappointing way to end the trip:

*Bedding: absolute worst quality bedding — sheets and pillows — of the entire trip. Even low level Best Westerns have far superior bedding.

*AC/Heating Unit: again, the only place I’ve stayed in two weeks where the fan will not stay on all night as a type of white noise. ..which is desperately needed because:

*Road noise: the 1863 sits directly on a busy, load road. Half of the rooms face the road, and you hear ever car that passes.

When visiting the Gettysburg area, I would take a ‘hard pass’ on the 1863. Try Courtyard or perhaps the Best Western options.
