        Second Stay

This was our second stay at Abbey's in The Cottage and again this was an amazingly relaxing weekend. Our two dogs feel right at home and love investigating the grounds during our walks. The owner Erika is a true delight and extremely helpful with planning your days. Breakfasts are delicious - the house and grounds are immaculate. My husband and I are already planning our trip for next fall.

        Relaxing and Beautiful

We recently had a wonderful 15th Wedding Anniversary at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn. We took our 14 year old Mini-Schnauzer and stayed in the romantic and charming cottage. The cottage had a fenced backyard for the pup (which she loved) and a side-deck which she would have enjoyed more had it not been raining. I think an umbrella on the table or something covering part of the porch or yard would have made the stay 6 bones for our girl, because she could have enjoyed the outdoors more despite the rain. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a television with Netflix. We were able to enjoy Netflix when the rain got bad...it was nice to relax and enjoy a movie. The service was professional and relaxed. Erika greeted us with a big smile and offered us wine glasses when she showed us our room. She prepared fantastic and healthy breakfasts (with foods from our favorite store; Trader Joes). Additionally, her knowledge of the local area provided us with four great restaurants and nature walks with the dog. We can't speak highly enough of this charming, lovely Bed and Breakfast. Perfect for: romantic getaways, children, and pets. Thank you for helping us to find our home away from home. Thanks Erika!

        Fabulous Time

We recently had a fabulous time at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn. We took our two puppies and stayed in the immaculate and charming cottage (Chateau Eve). The cottage had a fenced backyard for the puppies (which they loved) and a side-deck with party lights and a bistro table. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a television and a couch and refrigerator and a good-sized bathroom.

The service was excellent. Erika greeted us with a big smile and offered us champagne glasses when she showed us our room. She prepared fantastic and healthy breakfasts (organic eggs, milk, plantains, and turkey bacon). Additionally, her knowledge of the local area provided us with four great ideas for hikes and nature walks with the dogs.

Although the Inn is very close to Foxwoods (literally around the corner) it has a charming wooded setting (we saw deer in the backyard). We can't speak highly enough of this charming, lovely Bed and Breakfast.

Perfect for: romantic getaways, children, and pets

        Amazing Weekend at the Inn!

I just spent an amazing weekend at the inn. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and there for you to enjoy. We grilled and had a fire one night. We stayed in the cottage because we brought our dog. It was very clean and very comfortable. Our pup Tessie loved the fenced in patio. Erika who runs the inn was great, and told us to run the dog around the yard. The bed and bedding were country comfy. Every morning we got up for a fresh cup of joe and a pastry. Next we had blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit salad, eggs, and sausage. Not to mention all the great cereals and teas. It was a great weekend gateway, with all the comforts of home.

Wonderful, Relaxing 3 Nights at Abbey's Lantern Inn

We just spent a wonderful, relaxing 3 nights at Abbey's Lantern Inn. My husband and I and our dog stayed in the Cottage. It's like your own apartment - a large room with roomy bathroom, wonderfully soft towels, a fenced in backyard with table and chairs as well as a romantic lighted side deck with a small table and chairs. The grounds are just breathtaking and include a covered deck with comfortable chairs and a fire pit with adirondack chairs. Erika serves a delicious breakfast and is a gracious hostess. Everything about the Inn is comfortable and cozy. There is plenty to see and do in the area. We look forward to spending time there again soon.

Abbey's is an awesome getaway for a night or a bunch of nights!

Abbey's is an awesome getaway for a night or a bunch of nights, especially if you have a dog. "The Cottage" has a fenced in back yard so you can let your dog out early in the morning or sit at the private table and chair to drink your morning coffee in the sunshine. Erica is more then pleasant to be around and very helpful. She offered us some wine glasses when we arrived and when I asked for some extra towels, that was not a problem, along with some extra shampoo. In the morning, we went over to her kitchen / dining room at the main house and she had all organic milk, cream, cereals, for our week day breakfast, but if we wanted some eggs or something else she was more then happy to comply. We're not breakfast eaters, but when we found a place to stay near Foxwoods that would let us take dogs, we really found the perfect spot. The Cottage was private and so nicely decorated, along with a thick comfy mattress and comforter. Since there was snow on the ground, I put my sodas in the snow overnight since there was no refrigerator or microwave, but I was told I could use the one in the main kitchen.

Outside there is a fire pit and plenty of places to go for a walk with the dog. Erica did tell me she's trying to make a walking trail out the back that would go for miles, but she needed the town's okay to build a couple bridges. However, we went for a long woodsy walk out behind Two Trees Inn where there is a dog walk that is just down street from Abbey's, close to Foxwoods.

Abbey's is perfect. My first time at a bed and breakfast, I don't think I'd want to stay in a hotel again with having people coming and going all through the night, coming back tipsy and loud; Abbey's is quiet, peaceful and safe. I had no problem leaving my dog there while we went to Foxwoods. I would think if he barked too much, Erica should have called, but she did not hear him once.

We'll be returning again Erica! Thanks for the great experience and meeting you. Like everyone mentioned, you're a sweetheart and helpful with the surrounding areas.

        Amazing, Relaxing, Beautiful B&B!!

Amazing, Relaxing, Beautiful B&B!!A day after my husband and I got married a few weekends ago, we decided to take a "puppymoon," since our dog had to be boarded at daycare for the night for our wedding on Saturday night and since I'm starting law school in a week, we decided to wait until December to go on our full honeymoon. I researched dog-friendly bed and breakfasts and hotels in dog-friendly areas and Mystic kept coming up (I'd been there on a school trip as a kid to the seaport). Both Mystic itself and Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn looked SO dog-friendly and I couldn't get over how cute and quaint Abbey's looked! I booked it ASAP and let me tell you - it did NOT disappoint!! Sometimes it's hard to tell how things will look from pictures but believe it or not the photos don't even do Abbey's justice for it's beauty and sweetness! We stayed in the Cottage (the only dog friendly room - although the other rooms looked gorgeous as well!) and everything was perfect! It was my first time at a B&B and let me tell you I will definitely be coming back to B&Bs in generally and CERTAINLY back to Abbey's!! Erika, the owner, is quite possibly the sweetest, most accommodating person you'll ever meet. She helped us with everything we needed with a big smile, showing us the special dog welcome treats, bowl and "bathroom bags." She took time to take us through maps of Mystic and Ledyard and to make recommendations for great food where puppies are allowed to join! We even got complimentary tickets to an attraction (we chose the Seaport) because of the off-nights we stayed (Monday - Wednesday). What an extra treat! Our pup had an amazing time - so did we! The bed was oh-so comfortable, I fell asleep immediately for a nap when we got there! The decor is gorgeous and the back patio (fenced in for puppies!) was great! And our dog LOVED going on walks around the grounds. The grounds are GORGEOUS!! I absolutely loved Abbey's! If you're looking for a place to go with your dog, or sans-pooch too (some rooms have jacuzzis!) for some beautiful sights, relaxing days, peaceful nights, and the most delicious coffee I've ever tasted (I'll have to ask Erika what it is), run don't walk to Abbey's! Well, book first, but you get the point!

Best Bed and Breakfast we have found!

We stayed at the Inn Thursday-Saturday at the last weekend in May. When we arrived around 5:30pm, Ericka greeted us in the parking lot with a warm smile. She immediately showed us to our room (The Cottage) and asked if we needed any wine glasses or anything to make our arrival better. She also showed us where the dog dishes, treats and flashlight (how thoughtful!!!) were located since we brought our dog and was staying in the dog friendly suite. We grabbed the wine glasses and explored the property for a glass of wine while we debated over restaurant recommendations given by our host. The property is really great. We sat under the deck on the lawn and listened to the sounds of birds while enjoying our drinks. We went into Mystic for dinner and had a nice meal and returned to our Cottage for our first night stay. The room was nautical, rustic and had modern and antique decorations. The double ceiling fans kept us cool throughout the night and the bed was very comfortable. Ericka made us breakfast and chatted with us during our coffee, allowing us to pick her brain about what to do in town that day. She recommended a few kayaking rentals and where to go for a lobster roll, and we wanted to try out the Thai restaurant she had recommended the night before. She also gave us some dog friendly places to visit and eat at while in town. She helped us pack our cooler with ice packs and gave us some beach towels for our day. We returned and made ourselves comfortable at the campfire pit and brought along our makings for s’mores. Ericka had the fire set up and gave us blankets to bring out as well. She offered (when I booked in April) to add on the s’mores package, but also mentioned we could bring our own fixings and she would set up the fire for us! We were lucky to have beautiful weather during our stay to be able to enjoy the amenities of the property, such as a bonfire and s’mores! We had breakfast once again and Ericka cooked us eggs, bacon and toast to order as well as fresh fruit and yogurt. We were sad to leave and made her well aware we would be returning soon, and possibly planning a reunion trip with a few couples for the fall. Ericka made our stay wonderful with her bright and cheerful personality and warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn. We immediately recommended our stay to all of our family and friends for the perfect getaway at any time of year. Although this Bed and Breakfast isn’t located in Mystic, CT, it is only 10 minutes away on a scenic back road and far away to make you feel like you are in the country.

        Perfect for dog lovers

We just loved the cottage at ALH Inn. The 6' fenced in yard was great - needed for our boxer who can easily jump a shorter fence. The room was so cozy and private. (Yet large enough to accommodate the dog crate.) The grounds were spacious for walks. We were so happy to be able to bring our pups along.

        Home Away From Home

Our visit to Abbey's was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Our two puppies LOVED, I mean LOVED the Cottage and felt right at home. Everything was very clean and organized, the food was delicious, and the enitre inn is just amazing. The grounds are beautiful with a very serene atmosphere with cool trails to take the pups for walks. The owner Erica and her staff were very welcoming and even had a jar of treats and doggie accessories waiting for us when we arrived. My family will be returning next fall. Thank you Abbey's for our perfect weekend getaway. xoxoxo

        Simply the BEST

This is a perfect place for you and your pet! The Cottage is comfy, roomy and has a private bath AND yard for your 4 legged companion! We so enjoyed our time there and felt very comfortable with ALL of the accomodations. BIG grounds upon which you may raom with your dog, the private fenced yard, just a reach from the bed, makes for the perfect place to relax in CT!!! Can't bark enough about it!
