The location itself was pretty good, close to everything you want to do! However, on the pup side, it wasn't so great. We had a cottage, which was very small, even for humans, we had to squeeze ourselves to walk around the bed and use the restroom, the sink is next to the bed instead of being in the restroom. When we arrived, they didn't know we had a dog, even though we booked through Bring Fido. They knew we had a dog only because I asked if they had any extra bowl for our pup, which they declined. Good thing I was there for a hike so had some with me. They made us sign a paper that was basically 'Make sure we don't know you have a dog', so requesting that you bring a lint roller, that they won't provide anything for the dog, that the dog doesn't use any towel or doesn't go on the bed, etc.
I don't think that you can have a dog up to 35lbs, they accept small dogs only, based on the paper I signed. The room would be way too small for a larger dog. Our room was dirty (hair on the floor and in the shower, squished bugs on walls and ceiling). - RachelJan 22, 2020Dog Lovers Best Stay on Catalina Island
The staff LOVE dogs here and make every two and four-legged traveler feel welcome. The rooms have plenty of space for pups and you are instantly in the best location for starting hikes, walks, or strolling along. The best places to eat are right next door at the Metropole Cafe with plenty of outdoor eating. If you want a fancy dinner try Avalon Grille and their patio seating (with heaters). The island is super dog-friendly (except the nature center) and this is the best hotel for pups.
