Longbow Organization Group Campground

Twenty-two miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon, sits a historic campground built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Six alpine shelters on-site can sleep up to 48 people, and are all located on the shores of the river. No tents or trailers allowed. The covered cook area with fireplace and amphitheater which seats 75 make it a great option for large family gatherings or retreats. Fishing and hiking opportunities abound near the old Santiam Wagon Road, and in early May you might catch a glimpse of the majestic elk in a neary pasture. Be aware that the camp is patrolled regularly by Forest Service and county officials, who enforce all applicable state and federal laws, including state alcoholic beverage laws.
