  Great stay for Nicklaus!

  There is plenty of grass areas for our 10# Teddy Bear. He loved staying there as much as we did! They let him into the casino as long as we were carrying him or on 6' leash.

  Nothing superior about room

  We chose the Superior room over the Standard room. Would hate to see the Standard room. Supposedly the "New" Pioneer... all they did was slap some paint over damaged walls (dripping down door frames and baseboards) and switch out (some) furniture and light fixtures. Door lock didn't work at times. Hair left in shower. Baseboards filthy. This is a motel, not a hotel, so expect to hear a lot of parking lot noise all night long. No dedicated pet area, so be prepared to walk a distance to the few tiny grass areas and bring your poop bags. We were given a note when we checked in that cleaning services are only available every 3 days of stay. 2 complimentary bottles of water, but no fridge, microwave, or coffee maker. Thankful we only planned a one night stay.

  Dirty and zero amenities

  First was it was dirty. The dog jumped on the bed and there were black paw prints all over it. No wonder there is a $75 charge. Except it's not the dogs fault! The outdoor decks are plywood (really, at the "New" Pioneer, lol). There was 1 bar in the whole hotel/casino that had coffee and the bartender had to make some. No fridge, no blow dryer, no microwave. I didn't even have TV for Sunday football because the satellite was out of service too. It was a horrible stay. Never again. The Nugget allows 2 pets below 55lbs too, except they only charge $50. So there ya go.

  Memories

  We were here 14 years ago (with no pets) and had a blast with a miniature golf course. Recently we returned with our greyhounds and lovely mother-in-Law. We got adjoining rooms at the end of a building. Rooms were clean and perfect for the one night stay we had. It was sad to see AI in force; human contact is lacking at gambling tables. The new and improved restaurant is staffed with attentive folks and food is great and not surprisingly more $$$$ than 14 years ago. Pioneer desk staff are personable. Room rates are incredible, unless you have a pet. Still, totally worth it. We were happy to be able to stay at a place we'd been before and M-I-L was thrilled about the riverside location.

  Room walls paper thin. We were gone 15 minutes to get take out dinner and got reported for barking dog and locked out of our room in the pet section for $75 pet fee. The restaurant did have great food. Won’t stay there again.

  Nothing as expected

  1) booked a superior Queen, when I got there they told me that there are no queen beds on the property.
  2) restaurant inside hotel stated they were pet friendly, but was removed by security because we had a dog. 3) overall uncomfortable stay

  The hotel charged a 75 non-refundable cleaning fee for dogs (in addition to a refundable 75 dollar fee), which is a total rip off as the room looked and smelled like it had not a good cleaning in years. The red stains on my bed spread, the pungent smell of body odor and beer, and the hair in he bathtub confirmed my suspicions.

  Grass and beach

  Our room faced the river. Plenty of grass and a small beach to enjoy. Our room had a divider door so you could hear the neighbors. If your dog is a barker this could be an issue. Best poop bags ever. A lot of poop stations available. The rooms are pet friendly but in poor quality so I am not sure why there is a pet fee of $75. The dresser in our room was missing handles. Staff is friendly.

  Big Mistake never again!!!

  The only reason why we booked here so that we can take our babies. We were booked for two nights three days. The check in process was pretty easy. But when It came to the room it was disgusting. I guess you get what you pay for!! That’s a true statement. We only stayed one night and checked out first thing in the morning. It was very noisy and unsuitable for my babies and myself. The first thing I did when I got home was shower. I won’t tell you every single thing about the room because it will take up to many paragraphs. But Laughlin was great!! Had a good time for the 18 hours that I was there but I will never never stay at the new Pioneer ever again. Would I ever recommend the New Pioneer, NO WAY..

  You get what you pay for. Room served its purpose. And they welcome dogs which is why we stayed there.

Safe Stay: The New Pioneer has enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place. Masks and hand sanitizer are provided to guests, and rooms are disinfected between each stay. Social distancing measures are in place, as well as physical barriers between staff and guests. Cashless payment is available. Each room has a 24-hour gap period between stays, and hotel staff are required to wear masks.
