  HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

  We stayed here August 2021 with our dog and will never return. The first night we were woken up by the neighboring couple having a domestic dispute and we had to call the police dpt. The doggie area was also filthy, full of dog fecies that had been there a while. Our room also reeked of dog urine. After not getting any sleep our first night we demanded a refund and booked at another hotel for the rest of our trip. We will never return!

  Not very dog friendly

  My family and I stayed here on June 17-18 was supposed to stay until the 19th, but was forced to cut it short due to our dog Cookie almost being viciously attacked by a bigger dog that was unleashed. They have a special run for dogs if you want to have them unleashed, but this dog was not in there and was not provoked at all by my dog. Brought it up with management the next day (Sunday), because it happened after hours and informed them this was why we were cutting our stay short. They were rude, offered no refund for Sunday night or showed no empathy at all. Plus my mom and I have bruises from the beds; you could actually feel the coils in the mattress. Quiet time was also not enforced and lastly Cookie was not given a welcome basket as mentioned in their advertisement. Will definitely not be staying here again and do not not recommend.

  Dogs welcome

  This was a first trip with our dog. The motel itself welcomes dogs. There were several people traveling with their dogs. The room was very clean and suitable. The picnic/bbq area was very spacious and manicured. The dog run was not kept up however. There was old dried dog poop that looked like it had been there for months all piled up along the back and edges of the run. If the dog run had been in better condition, then I would have given a higher rating. The staff was just okay, no special treatment, no extra friendliness. They forgot to put towels in our room and the lady at the desk didn’t even seem surprised it apologetic. I would end up choosing a different place to stay if I go to Fort Bragg with my dog again.

  Excellent place to stay with a dog

  Just spent 7 nights here and it's my favorite place to stay in Fort Bragg. They have a private fenced dog yard as well as another grassy lawn area. Lots of places to sit and relax in the gardens. There are several grills and a fire pit and a place to play horseshoes. Rooms are being remodeled and upgraded. Microwave and fridge in all rooms. My room was super clean, comfortable bed and a whirlpool bath. There is a McDonald's across the street and a grocery store on the other side of the property. Super quiet and friendly staff.

  Good Stopover Spot

  Good stopover motel for a quick stay. Recently renovated, simple motel format. Comfortable beds, good shower, and surprisingly quiet!

  Disappointed

  After making the reservation for a two queen room I was called and it was changed do to health guidelines. We accepted to the room a king with a rollaway and was told it was a better room. Check in was easy but the man checking folks in had no patience what so ever, but that was the best part of our stay. The room was set up for two not three. Two towels, two pillows, no ice, no breakfast which is suppose to be included and should have been taken off the bill. The room wasn’t very fresh smelling even thou we requested a pet room, the room smelt old and moldy. It was very dark and old furniture didn’t help. The rollaway was a beat up metal frame with broke chains the mattress was thin and soft. Over all we were very disappointed for $307.00 we expected so much more. I would not recommend this location to any one.

  Surf Motel And Gardens, Ft Bragg, CA

  Nice motel they even have their own dog park.
  They are remodeling while we were there but no inconvenience to us. Lots of beautiful plants and the fisherman loved it as it has a cleaning station.

  I wouldn't

  The gardens are nice, great for the dog. The room was basic/OK, except for the floors, which looked like they hadn't been vacuumed for months and definitely not shampooed for an eternity. My dog's tan colored toy was black within hours of being in the room. In a word: filth. I think even the dog was apauled..
