Not as friendly with pets as other establishments. Many dogs were barking which of course caused our babies to bark. Unfortunately we received a wellness check. I really felt it was because we had the larger dogs. The bed was awful. Pet relief area was so far, I basically had to jog with the dogs to avoid an accident in the hotel. The hotel was clean but they can certainly use a crash course in pet friendliness.

In general it was great being able to bring our fur baby on vacation. Absolutely no hassle from Showboat in any way. However just a heads up for owners of small dogs if you are lucky enough to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms it is quite the hike for little guys to get to the peepee area. My Yorkie had a few accidents on the marble floor trying to run to get outside. There's a lot going on between tons of people, loud music & bright lights & other dogs it can be a bit overwhelming. But all in all BringFido & Showboat didn’t disappoint.👍🏻

We needed a pet-friendly place to stay and found The Showboat, but in order to make a reservation for a pet room you have to call to make it. The person on the phone said that there is a $50 charge per pet (fine) and asked if we wanted to book a "nicer" room in the "new tower," which sounded good. I was given an "all in" price and was told I would receive an email confirmation. When one never arrived I called the next day and asked where it was, was told it was a "server issue" and a new one would be sent (which in hindsight should have been my cue to just cancel the room).
The next day I had to call and ask for it again, was told it was coming and still never got anything in writing. When we arrived nothing about this property was "new." At check in, which took forever because other guests were constantly jumping the lines to complain about issues with their rooms, I was told that the pet fee was actually $100. When I said that the person I made my reservation with had said it was $50, I was told "the rate changed in April and it's non-negotiable." Not really having any other options I figured I would call later to figure out what happened.
We got into the room and it was literally the most disgusting hotel room I had ever seen (or smelled). The room smelled like stale pee and cigarettes and the carpet was so horrifying we wouldn’t let our dog sit on it. Some kind of drink or food was spilled against the wall at some point in the past and never cleaned, the carpet was sticky and everything was stained, including the couch. The “pet relief area” was very far away from the rooms and consisted of a patch of astroturf that was covered in feces. Nobody staying here seemed to be picking up after their pets. The room was so gross that after a few hours we finally cut our losses and drove home. The room was that intolerable.
Upon checkout I asked for an itemized receipt because the rep on the phone lied about the costs, and was told "one could be emailed to me." When I explained that I needed one on paper because my confirmation emails never came through I was told that was "impossible" because "the system hasn't rolled over to the next day yet." I said that I needed something in writing after being lied to about the pet fee and since the room was so horrifying that we were leaving the same day, and was given the "previous" rate of $50 as a "make good (?)," though it was still not included the total cost of the room as the original phone representative said. Unsurprisingly, they were able to give me both a paper receipt and email one after that (very old-school hotel swindle games).

Place was nice but they made us feel terrible about having a large dog. They say large dogs welcome but there are children all over the place with their families who look petrified of dogs. They made me sign a form stating that I had a dog with me, blah, blah. etc. Do the families without dogs have to sign a waiver? If they choose to stay at a dog friendly hotel without a dog why am I the one made to feel like I’m doing something wrong.
Also, we called for towels, got none, called for pillows, got none. We were up all night with people partying and laughing up and down the halls. My dog made no sound at all. He is a 95 pound Lab mix. He was pleasant to everyone who was willing to interact. I’m sorry my dog is not in a ridiculous baby carriage.
Anyway, we were up all night. Finally the noise settled at 4:30am. We did not complain, we tossed and tuned and that was it. Someone knocked on our door at 2:00am and apparently was drunk and at the wrong room. My dog and the rest of us woke up at 8am. My husband was getting his leash ready to walk him so he excitedly started barking for possibly 7 minutes straight while my husband changed and put shoes on. They left the room with intent to come back to help me and my daughter carry bags to the car at checkout.
After he was gone for 10 minutes a security guard knocked on my door to tell me that my neighbors, complained about him barking and she came to tell us we had to calm him down or leave. He had already been gone. I gave her a piece of my mind and told her about what we went through and how disturbed we were all night but she said people are away to enjoy themselves and stay up late and need to sleep. OK… dogs wake up and need to pee and he was barking to tell us to hurry up since he had to walk 7 miles to a pee spot. They do not have a dog play area. The area to relieve themselves is a tiny fake grass spot that is attached to the parking lot that locals were using and honestly we were feeling unsafe at night with local people on bikes circling us. Horrible stay.

Best night's sleep. Clean room. Our chihuahua was very happy in the room. Comfortable and felt happy to be included. The hotel was very dog friendly. There were dogs everywhere and many relief stations. I will use this service again.

We just got back from our stay at the Showboat, all in all it was a good week. Hotel is going through so many different renovations/post covid stuff. They’ve def let some things go, but it was a clean hotel, great location, and lots to do, especially for the price! All staff was extremely friendly for the most part, but the front desk clerks barely spoke or explained anything about the hotel. I recommend just walking around & figuring it out! There’s a few things closed post covid (restaurants/bars) but I’d say we will most likely be back again with the pup!

Don’t get me wrong. I am happy with the showboat! It’s a cool hotel. And glad they accept pets. And there are so many. Doggies of all sizes walking up and down. Total heaven! But the hotel itself is OK. COULD BE BETTER. It’s such a great space but clearly not very well maintained. The beds are clean which is good. They tell us because of COVID they don’t clean the rooms while we are there which is a bummer so I don’t know if other hotels are doing the same.
The room didn’t smell bad, bathroom is clean BUT OMG the bedroom floor is FILTHY. So dirty and disgusting. I asked if someone could come and vacuum or something. They said yes but never came. It seems a lot of the staff, even though very nice, they don’t speak English very well. I still don’t think the woman understood me.
I have a 4 month old Maltese and I don’t even want to put her down in that dirty floor. Thank goodness I brought her playpen. A lot of things don’t work in the hotel. I’ve machine is broken, handicap doors are broken, Wi-Fi went out last night and didn’t start working until this morning. There’s one outlet close to the beds and one thing is for the lamp so you literally have ONE to plug your phone. We have to take turns charging stuff by the bed as the other outlet is across the roomOne thing that’s good though. I’m an early riser so it’s nice to see that they clean the common areas well every morning especially because there are so many dogs in and out all day. I’d probably stay here again when bringing my dog with me, but it’s def not the best hotel. BTW, everybody is bringing their dogs to the beach right in front of the hotel (at least the small ones) no one complained. There are no signs or anything so idk.

It was an amazing time with my 95 pound German Shepard. The rooms were clean and didn't smell at all. I was honestly surprised at how clean the rooms were compared to so some of the reviews I read before my stay. I would recommend this place to anyone thinking if staying here. I will definitely stay here another time.

We took our Bernese Mountain Dog to the Showboat and could not have asked for a better experience! We have a hard time finding places to take him due to his size (most places have a weight limit). It was nice to be able to sit in the lobby area outside the bar with him and enjoy some beers and food. The pet relief area was a little small but they kept bags there and a waste receptacle. Saw lots of other dogs there as well! Plus there is a nice dog beach about 25 minutes away that was perfect! We will definitely be going back soon!

Upon check in I did not get special treat for dog. I needed some info. as far as do’s and don’ts for dog which were not answered. Room was ok but needs updating. There was no bar soap, shampoo or conditioner in the room. After calling a few different numbers numerous times it took 3.5 hours to even get the soap. The only restaurant open did not pick up the phone. We had to walk down to place and order. Which we were told we had to wait 20 minutes before we could even place the order. They were rude and pretty much out of whatever we tried to order. They didn’t even have white bread for grilled cheese. That is pretty basic.

The staff is amazing, friendly and professional. The brick and mortar structure needs a little TLC. Hopefully the restaurants will reopen and the empty space that was once a casino will soon be occupied. They have a fabulous location on the boardwalk. Hopefully, it can be restored to the elegant place it once was. They already have dedicated and conscientious employees, who are friendly and highly qualified. The structure itself needs improvement.

This is a 2 star hotel that needed an overhaul years ago. Don’t expect much and you’ll be fine. There are not many places in AC that allow multiple dogs and large dogs, so we put up with it.

I was very happy to find a hotel that allows pets and doest charge a ridiculous rate. Showboat has that covered it was 50 dollars extra to bring my dog. They put people with animals on the 21st floor. I was surprised that they had carpet in the room, I was figuring it would be all tile to eliminate animals marking and what not. Much to my surprise they had carpet and the room did not smell at all. The hotel does not have that many amenities but the price was right it was nice and quiet and a good place to stay with my dog while I was in town for a Car Show / Auction.

We recently stayed two nights at the Showboat in Atlantic City. The room was clean as was the bathroom. The employee who checked us in and out was very nice and polite. That is the nicest thing I can say about this stay. The place was deserted and absolutely eerie. We did not see a single other person during our stay. The abandoned casino and restaurants only added to the creep factor. On the practical side.....there’s nothing there, no place to get breakfast or coffee or any other meal for that matter. It was a long walk to the nearest open establishment. We were first given a room on the 21st floor and I asked for a lower floor to make it easier to take the dog out. We were given a room on the 8 th floor but our room was the absolute farthest room from the elevator. We never saw or heard anybody else on that floor so I don’t know why we were put on the end like that. The area to walk the dog was fine but again, it was an incredibly long walk through the hotel to get there. We were charged a resort fee per person per night for the pool, the beach access and the internet. The pool is closed for the season, the beach access is closed also but we did have internet service. Still, why are we paying resort fees for facilities that are not available.? I will never stay here again and cannot recommend it to anybody else. The emptiness, lack of other people and overall abandoned feeling of the hotel gave me the title of this review: creepy!

Just got back from a one-night stay at the Showboat Hotel & I could not be happier with my experience. Others seem to be caught up in the unappealingly barren casino floor, but for less than $150/night on the BOARDWALK WITH YOUR DOGS? What more could you ask for on a pet-based travel site?
My dogs Rocco (lab/rottie) & Muggsy (jack/pug) were greeted with affection from staff as soon as we entered the lobby. Rocco is big & typically yields a variety of responses, but a front desk representative immediately leaped to greet him, as well as passing guests. It was almost surreal.
We had no issues checking in & found our room on the 9th floor. A pretty standard hotel room with a few bleached spots on the carpeting from previous guests (once again, completely expected). The ocean view was a major perk.
The staff was courteous, friendly, and generally unbothered by dogs. Nobody weighed Rocco or hassled me over his puppy-like temperament/nervous barking. A small area with waste bags is located near the parking lot. Neighborhood allows for nice dog walks with no fuss. No trip is complete without a visit to Longport!

There is no dog welcome bag on check-in. One small relief area that had an overflowing trash can. Relief area is a bit of a walk from any room in the Bourbon Tower. Would recommend staying in the other tower of the hotel if you can. Hotel is fairly empty with not much to do since they removed the casino. Hotel seemed understaffed. One person for checkout this morning and only one when we checked in.

I got there around 2am and had a problem with the front desk. First she sassed me by stating checkin was 4pm. Then when I explained the reservation was for the previous afternoon, she announced she had "canceled" my reservation because I was late. (Cancel a prepaid room??) Then -- after over ten minutes futzing with the machine, she decided she couldn't check me in because she was running the computer audit. I gave up and took the dog for a walk. When I came back I did get a room key.
After this initial BS, things were fine. I did think the place was a bit understaffed for the convention they were hosting -- long lines at the desk and valet all weekend.
I probably will go back. I just won't show up after working late.

My family and I spent the weekend at the Showboat and had an awesome experience with our dog Sophie. The hotel is super pet friendly and even have signs everywhere letting people know that the hotel prioritizes family’s pets. There’s even an area to walk your dog.

The Showboat is now a hotel only, not a casino. They are catering to families, and are very pet friendly. The staff was gracious and we felt comfortable having our dog with us. We just stayed here this week again, but had stayed a few years back when it was still a casino. Even though they aren't giving doggie goody bags at this point ( which I don't think is necessary anyway) , I felt it was even more accommodating to people with pets. The hotel is still adding things recreational facilities where the casino had been.

We love to stay at showboat and we defenetly will go back again, although we didn't get any welcome treat or doggie goodie bag but it's really a great hotel to stay and we spent a great time with our 4 years boxer. It was her first trip away from home but she slept well.
They have some area with green grass for our dog to do her "business" near the parking lot and we had a nice walk around the blocks as not to many cars on the road. Then We walk and sit on the boardwalk for a while as the hotel locate almost at the end so not to many people, very nice and relaxing.
