    change in pet fee

Great hotel and my pet loved walking along the river. However, please note - dog rate has increased to $75/per night.

    Haven't Been Back

I agree with what has been written. We are long time visitors to Harrah's, prior to the new facility being built. Our yorkie is 2 years old. We visited Harrah's over a year ago with our pet, and I found out upon check-in that the PetStay rooms were all smoking only. The room was smoke-filled and the hall was noisy. Our yorkie is only 7 lbs. and smells better than the room did. Needless to say, we have not been back since. I think the policy should allow for a floor in the newer tower as well for non-smokers.

    Not what they advertise

We spent 2 nights at Harrah's Cherokee and participated in the "Pet Stay" program they advertise. We knew that there was a $40 per night fee for our dogs and we received a free hotel stay with our Harrah's rewards. Our bill was $80. No issue there. But be advised that they place all the pets on the 3rd floor of the older Soco Tower. This is a smoking floor and all smoking rooms. These are also not renovated rooms and will not be as nice as the new tower rooms or the general refurbishment taking place. That said, yes, the rooms were smelly with smoke. Bring Lysol to help mask the smoke smell if you are not a smoker. However, our room was clean. There was a mini fridge in the room and a nice flat panel tv, sofa, table and chairs and a queen bed. At check in, you have to sign a waiver for the dogs and any damages and present a credit card that they swipe. The disappointment started at checkin when the person told me, "i hope you brought your own bowls, we do not have them anymore". Of course I did. I did not receive a tag to place on our door that we had pets in the room (everyone else on the floor had one), we did not receive the advertised Pet Stay amenities..bowls, treats, bag with poopy bags...nada and no explanation, excep where your dogs cannot go (basically the casino floor areas and restaurants). They had advertised a Pet Walk area which is non existent. It is a door on the side of the soco tower with a short 20 ft concrete sidewalk to the service drive on the back of the hotel. the shrubs on either side of the walk are barricaded by rails. So basically, you walk your dog either on concrete or in the shrubbery, mulch by the old swimming pool area further down, which is not well lit in the dark. And no trash cans around to place poopy bags so you have to go around to the front lobby entrance and use the bins there. It is funny, because once on the casino floor about every 5 minutes their advert boards tout the Pet Stay program that is non existent in this hotel, other than you can bring your animal and pay $40 per night (which is not bad, other hotels are higher).

    Fee's

I disputed the $40 fee and got the room for $119 but was billed on my visa twice for the $40. The front desk associates were not aware of the NO PET FEE and they never provided me with the "pet stay" amenities they state in there web. Our room had red stains on the carpet and some of the corners were chewed on. No worth the hassle and the hotel is not that impressive.

    Pet Room

Don't let the pictures of the rooms on this website fool you. Pet rooms are only on the third floor and are not updated. The mattresses have not been replaced and the carpet is dirty as well as the tile. The pet walk area is a driveway beside Highway 19 with no grass or fence between highway and area. When you check in you are warned that you are being watched and pet may not be off the third floor except to go out on the first floor. Hotel does suppy water dish and food dish plus poop bags but other than that they really are not that pet friendly. You feel like you are the one in the kennel. $40 charged to your credit card at check in plus $100 deposit that is refunded after the room is checked.
