Description

The Muscatatuck Park is a natural gem, with an interesting and significant history. The surrounding county of Jennings is one if Indiana's most natural and scenic counties. With two National Wildlife Refuges, two State Fish and Wildlife Areas, a State Forest and a State Nature Preserve, the wildlife and recreational opportunities abound. Likewise the county and its small towns have a rich and unique history. Vernon is designated as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. Breathe the fresh air as you stroll back in time through 'Indiana's best example of a mid-19th century town'. Antique shops, seasonal festivals, herb farms and some quaint dining will round out your visit. The Muscatatuck Park is the best place to climb or boulder in Indiana! The original idea of the Muscatatuck State Park was built around the natural beauty of the river and the rough hilly terrain. The park is not very big, but the hiking is very good. The park offers over 7 miles of trails. Their walking trail is moderate.
