    Not great

This park can be great, or not so great. The sites can go either way - some are good, some are terrible. It's helpful to know what you are reserving. There is a beautiful, very large green belt right on the water with views of the bridge that dogs can play on, and this is great. It's a great spot to stay and sit a while. However, if your dogs like water, they will be very unhappy.

Anywhere dogs are allowed to go, including the green belt, is rocky. These are not pebbles, but large, sometimes jagged, often slippery rocks. It's almost completely unusable for dogs and people, unless you have some pretty rugged water shoes. They are not allowed anywhere else. It's pretty much torture for our dogs since they want to swim and play but can't.

This also means if you have nowhere to leave their dog (such as an air-conditioned camper with no chance of them barking) you will not be able to enjoy the water either. It's really a shame, because there are so many dogs, and a lot of sandy places they could play without inconveniencing anyone. It is a huge park, with lots of really nice places to walk. If your dog doesn't care about swimming, they will probably really like it. But my guys only give it 2 bones.

    Great for water dogs

Our second time taking the dogs here in our motor home. Camping itself is decent, 30 amp full hookup, gravel/dirt pad, small sites, not luxury. But the location is ideal, right on lake Huron with views Mackinac and the bridge. Great place for dogs, loads of common areas along the shore with rocky Beach. Dogs not welcome at sandy Beach, but not a problem. Probably a mile of water access. Overall one of our favorites in MI.
