  Lovely Place!

  Such a nice place! Lots of space to walk your dog. Very clean rooms. Breakfast was delicious and it changed every day. The grounds are beautifully kept and the old oaks with their hanging moss was so pretty. I didn’t use the pool but it was very nice. My favorite hotel in Saint Augustine!

  Met our needs

  At this clean, motor court style motel, we had easy accessible, ground floor accommodations. The large, fenced dog park, steps from our door, was much appreciated by our 75 lb Aussie Doodle after traveling hours in the back seat of our SUV. The staff was very kind and the free breakfast was very good. There is sufficient dining room seating, which, if one travels much, knows this is not the case with big name motels. Minutes from the beach, we would stay here again.

  Incredibly pet friendly

  Stayed here last night. If booked online, there’s a small pet fee ($20) for up to 2 pups. The check in had dog cookies and the rooms offered a big dog bed and food bowls.
  The best part is, there’s a fully fenced in dog area with poo bags provided and places for humans to sit.
  Definitely an older hotel, but the AC was strong, beds were comfy and they love pets here!

  Excellent dog-friendly hotel

  The rooms are very clean with hard flooring making it very clean overall. It has literally THE best dog park for a hotel I have EVER seen. It is a bit expensive for rooms with basic but nice facilities, (>$800 for a 4 night stay). But location is excellent, pool is lovely, and the free shuttle with free breakfast makes it worth it. I walked my dog around the surrounding residential area and it is an area that is "on the way back." Meaning it is a place where young families are returning to and even one block away is a very nice coffee/tea/wine shop called DOS that is lovely. Will stay here again when I return to St Augustine.

  Such a comfortable place to stay with our 2 pups. We got a paper of dog-friendly restaurants and attractions when we checked in. They also had a really nice area to walk your dogs around on leash.

  Amazing dog park!

  Southern Oaks Inn was the best place to stay with our dogs. They had dog beds and collapsible dog bowls in the room, and all of the dog rooms are on the backside that are across the parking lot from the most amazing dog park and walking area I've ever seen at a hotel hands down. The price is right. The rooms are normal and clean and they have a free shuttle to downtown St Augustine. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

  This place in St Augustine was great. The lady at the desk had a list of dog friendly restaurants and events in town ready for me when I checked in. The room was clean and quiet. The dog park was across the parking lot from my room door. The park is large and nicely kept up. We had a great stay.

  The room (king) was very CLEAN and spacious No pet odors from previous visitors. A dog park which is part of the Inn was large and secure. They also provide a dog bed and bowls if needed. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of towels are provided. Highly recommend Southern Oaks as a place to stay with or without your pet. Thanks to BringFido for another great experience!

  Stayed here with 1 pup. They have an enclosed dog park, big walking areas so your pup can have both of best worlds. Also provide large dog bed and the silicone water/food bowls to take while out and about (not for you to take home). Pool area and homemade breakfasts available. Will definitely stay here next time we visit.

  Beautiful grounds

  We stay here a couple of times a year, just for a little getaway. They have a large dog park, where your babies can run off leash, and the property around the dog park is beautiful with large trees and green grass. The rooms are 'hard' floor, which is a plus with a dog in case there are accidents. When you check in, they give you a list of pet friendly restaurants and activities. I love this hotel and never think twice about booking a room.

  I found this hotel on this app and was the best thing that happened. Pet-friendliest hotel you can find. They provided a bed and water bowls for our husky. The room was right next to the doggie park, which was bigger than expected, clean and with poop bag stations. Breakfast was delicious with different options each day. The room was clean and quiet. Totally recommended!!!

  The rooms are a bit small, but clean. Everyone was super friendly and loved my dogs. They have a fenced in dog park type area for them to potty and play. They also have a shuttle service that you can bring your dog on that goes straight to the historic district. Will definitely stay here again!

  Great Location

  This hotel is near St. Augustine center. There are a few good comments here and a few negative ones. That said, let me begin with the positive. Besides the location (you got that in the title), there is a dog park; although the description of agility course is a bit over rated. There is a round tube to travel though and a ramp up and down, but it allows you to let your car-tired pup romp a bit off leash. The hotel staff is very nice and there are dog cookies and sometimes human cookies in the lobby. There is also a sort of bar that serves Margaritas but not sure how extensive it is. There is a breakfast that includes eggs, bacon, yogurt etc. There are small water and dog bowls (yes that is a plus).

  Now to the cons. The bed was way too soft. There is a dog bed in the room but my dog would not go near it and doubt it had been washed. Now onto the really frustrating part. I paid what I thought was the entire fee but got to the hotel and found that they changed a hotel service fee per day ($25 plus a tax and some other fee). We stayed two days and I have no idea what that fee covered since they did not change any linens. We also got locked out and needed to get our key reconfigured. There is a $25 dog fee daily, which then has an additional service charge and tax on that fee. Yes, Beau was taxed. If you think, "Hey that's just a little," try $111. So before you book at this hotel, either book directly or do a better job of reading fine print before you book.

  The motel has been updated and geared toward pet parents. Clean and fresh rooms with dog beds and bowls waiting for Fido. The dog park is great with a tree house walk around, agility tube and bridge and plenty of room to romp. Plus they have a margarita bar for mom and dad to enjoy after a ling drive in the lobby!

  My initial review was good based on amenities until it came time to check out and they overcharged me with refusal to refund their mess up. Over $800 in “accidental” charges on my account, double charged me for my stay, and I spent days trying to get it straightened out and they still overcharged me when it was all said and done.

  This place was great, they had a really big dog park, bowls for the dogs in the room, very dog friendly. The only reason to give it four bones is that you do have to drive to the Historic Saint Augustine part but it’s like 1 or 2 miles away. In theory you could walk.

  Great after a long car ride

  We booked this place last minute after traveling for hours on I-95 with our two 55 lb fur babies. We all loved it! The adult humans were able to grab a couple of adult beverages and the dogs were able to run and let loose of their energy in the nice large dog yard. The yard is fenced with great grass and large tree for shade. The room came equipped with a large dog bed and two collapsible bowls for food & water. A full hot breakfast bar was included with our stay. The chocolate chip pancakes were yummy. Another nice touch is that the drink machines are stocked with Lacroix water. The evening front desk staff were extremely nice at check-in and remember us in the morning. The restaurant staff were friendly as well. We will be back on next road trip to Florida!

  Only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it said in one review check in time was 2 p but when I got the confirmation via text it said 4 p. I requested 3 p and they did accommodate that though - so be aware there are some other fees as well $25 / day for breakfast (which was good) and use of their free shuttle We were there only over night so we did not use that service or the pool which looked nice - the dog run area was convenient.

  Great Stay & perfect location

  Came for 2 days of vacation with my mother and our fur baby. We arrived at night, reception at Front Desk was courteous and checked in a breeze. The room was clean and in working order. he dog run was perfect to take our dog for a walk. Great location, since we were heading to a nearby beach with our pet. Butler beach is a great beach to take your pet & only 20 minutes away. We enjoyed the breakfast it was plentiful and fresh. We really did enjoy our stay at Southern Oaks Inn.

  Great Place

  This is without a doubt a great place to spend a few days if you are planning on taking your best friend. You can take your wife or husband too if you want. We have a room right across from the dog park that the hotel has. Daisy loved going there multiple times a day and playing ball. There are balls that the hotel provides right in the park and Daisy found them all. Our stay was quiet as well. Room came with soft bed and even food and water bowls. We made reservations to stay there again. Daisy highly recommends it.

  Updated modest style rooms are comfortable, spotless very quiet with thick concrete walls and in good working order. Large off leash grassy fenced dog play pen. Very attentive staff; helped carry my luggage to 2nd floor NO elevator. Soft dog mattresses & water bowls supplied in each room. AC noisy but effective. Thick mattress and warm bedding. Continual complimentary hotel shuttle takes you to the Old town center. Average breakfast. Large vehicle parking.

  Perfect Overnight Stop

  Easy reservation process and we were given the choice of ground floor or second floor. Rooms were clean and good sized. A clean dog bed and collapsible bowls were provided - room charged if items are taken home. Dog park is spacious and has a few obstacles. Directly across the street from a CVS and Walgreens. Breakfast was great, with a wide selection. Will definitely book again for next trip.

  Great place to stay in St. Augustine

  We stayed at the Southern Oaks twice already and would certainly do it again if we're in the area. This is a very pet friendly hotel. Great for our golden retriever. It even has its own fenced dog park with lighting. The hotel staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the complementary breakfast is great. A large dining room with plenty of space between tables. There is strong focus on CDC COVID health and safety requirements at the front desk, rooms, and dining area.

  It was been a wonderful experience. They are all so kind. Super pet friendly. There was even a dog bed and dog dishes in the room. The have a huge yard and great dog park area. Breakfast was great. Choices of eggs and pancakes, bacon, potatoes. So much to choose from. The guy serving breakfast had a great personality. Thanks here’s a shuttle to downtown and you can bring the dog. Clean, comfy rooms too. Check in/out process was so easy. The fact we can bring our pets and they're catered to as well is perfect.

  We really appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The comfy dog bed was a nice touch. Plenty of area to walk and exercise man's best friend. The only downside was the people mattress had bad coils and was in need of replacement.

  Big disappointment, not worth it

  This place was over $260/night but is an old, run down 50's style motel. I've stayed in places for $50/night that were better. Sorry, but we couldn't wait to get out of there.

  Very dog friendly hotel

  We decided to see the Light show in St. Augustine this year on a spur of the moment and were fortunate to be able to get a room at this hotel. The rooms are simple but they have everything you need and lots of towels, microwave, fridge, TV and even a dog bed, water and food bowl. There is a large, fence in dog area with agility toys and a gazebo for owners. Apparently, their pool is the larges in the city but we didn't use it. Staff is very nice and there is a large dining room for a hot, served breakfast, cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, good coffee and juices. It's not too close to all of the old city action but just far enough away not to be too noisy. There is a free tram to take you to points of interest right around the corner from the hotel. Good choice for anyone, but great for people with dogs!

  Loved Our Stay Here With Our Rudi Roo

  We had a wonderful time at the Southern Oaks Inn! This is a great place if you have a dog! They have a very nice fenced in area to take your dog off the leash. They also have a large grassy area to walk your dog!
  In our room was a big dog bed as well as a food and water bowl. We had brought our own for our Rudi Roo so we did not need to use the ones in the room.

  The room was nice and clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable.

  And oh my gosh the complimentary breakfast is the absolute best! The food was delicious!

  We will definitely go back!

  Check-in was easy. The room was clean (but rooms are on the smaller side.) But the dog park is great! They have a little obstacle course set up, toys and bags for clean-up. Only a shuttle ride away from restaurants and attractions. I really loved how dog friendly St. Augustine was!

  Southern Oaks Inn is a great place to take your dog. Rooms have hard surface floors, they gave a large dog bed and dishes for you to use. They have a large dog park right there. There are benches to sit while your dog runs through hoops. The inn gives you a list of dog friendly restaurants. It's a dog heaven.

  I was really dreading this stay, we booked last minute & I assumed it was going to be an old, run down, & ratty hotel, but it was actually incredibly nice. Everything was very clean, they provided my pup with a bed & bowls, & the dog park was very clean & well taken care of. Breakfast was also superb. I was pleasantly surprised by everything. I would definitely stay again.

  Dog oriented with a place to play

  Dogs are just as much of a guest here as their owners, having their own amenities. There is a fenced relief and play area. The dogs get a their own bed and bowl provided. Treats at check out. As with anywhere in Florida, beware of the bugs in the grass. We came away with bites. There is a great list provided as to things to do and services available to do with your dogs. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was easy. It was the best hotel on our week vacation and will be revisited.

  Many things right

  The hotel was wonderful in the fact that it had great amenities for the two and four legged. Great clean puppy park or adjacent field if your dog doesn’t prefer company. Clean dog beds and bowls provided in the room. The shuttle they provide to downtown is also dog friendly! Nice pool and a decent hot breakfast included.

  The cons… check in was late. Not just late in general (4pm) but the room wasn’t ready by that time due to being short staffed. The rooms were mostly clean but still remaining dog hair in piles behind the door from previous guests on the floor. Ok no big deal, we all love our pets. But then I had to wipe up water that spilled on the floor, the towel came back up almost black. The floors haven’t been cleaned in quite some time.

  If you able to make a room request, ask to be towards the back as the road noise on Ponce de Leon is quite noisy and the motorcycles did wake me up through out the night. I would stay again as the staff is very nice and they do accommodate the dogs very well. But now I know how to make the stay a bit better.

  Such a relief. Cute, clean rooms, big open grassy space as well as a big grassy fenced area for our dog to run. definitely would stay again. They had a comfy dog bed and water and food bowls ready in the room and the shuttle to downtown is also dog friendly (we didn’t use the shuttle because we were only staying one night). They even provided a list of dog-friendly restaurants in the area and provided a good hot breakfast. Friendly staff, great dog amenities, and clean, our family really enjoyed the stay.

  Made my trip easier

  Very nice staff, convenient text message communication system for questions or requests. If I needed anything or had questions I could text the front desk and get an actual reply, no automated replies! 24 hours a day. Designated dog area for pet relief was pretty, well maintained, had well stocked poo bags, hoops, tube and ramp for pups to play. Breakfast was eggs, grits, pancakes and changed slightly every day.   Very Pet Friendly

  Hotel is set up to look after you dogs, reasonable pet fee, dog play park with shade for the humans and agility course if your dogs desire. Staff professional friendly and courteous. A dog-friendly shuttle runs regularly between the hotel and the historic district so you get the best of both worlds.

  Good option for pups

  Hotel was a little older than in the pictures. Only issue was we asked for a first floor room in advance due to health issues and no elevator. When we arrived we were told it would be the 2nd floor, which would not work. They were able to place us in the ground floor after some conversation. Breakfast was very good. Able to purchase bottled drinks, which was a nice touch after a tough week. Pool was very nice. Would stay again when traveling with our old cranky Jack Russel.

  Rooms were clean, but a bit dated. Nice fenced in dog park. Shuttle for a sort ride to heart of city. Will stay again.

  Excellent Service and Location

  I’m an avid lover of St Augustine. I visit several time a year. We decided to bring our Boykin Spaniel child on this trip. After reading reviews here we booked at Southern Oaks. They exceeded our expectations. The check in process was well organized. They messaged on our way to confirm our stay and text again after check in to make sure our room was suitable. The room was VERY clean and comfortable (much cleaner than some non-pet friendly places that I have stayed. The shuttle service was excellent and pet friendly as well. The exterior of the hotel was charming and they have a fenced dog park which was also nice. There was a dog bed and food and water bowls in our room. Definitely a great choice if your looking for a stay in the greatest old city in the USA.

  Wonderful place to stay

  The room had plenty of space and was clean and comfortable. They provided a hot breakfast which during these COVID times is unusual and it was very good. If you are traveling with your dog this is the place to stay! The room had a dog bed waiting for us as well as dog bowls and two towels for the dog! The towels came in handy after a walk in the rain. There was also a shuttle on demand to take us, dog included, to all the attractions and dinner. We never waited more than ten minutes for this service and parking down in the city is hard to find.

  Excited about the dog park!

  Hotel is older, all outdoor rooms and vinyl flooring, beds comfortable and everything very clean. Walking in the room there's a dog bed and bowls available for our Maggie. They have a system at check-in that's easy to follow and when all is explained she was excited about the "big dog run and park with obstacle courses and everything." Our little girl is 10lbs, 14, blind and very particular about her 'spot' to go. So there's a big grassy area around the dog park as well. We did not take advantage of the complimentary shuttle at this hotel which would take you into town and pick you up to bring you back (because parking is difficult downtown and can cost $15-$20. if not in a public lot or on meter) and the shuttle was dog friendly. The kids (teens) and I were very happy with the hot breakfast served to us and many full breakfast choices that were complimentary. YES! a hot breakfast buffet (scrambled eggs, ham, potatoes, cheesy grits, chocolate chip pancakes) and fresh fruit and continental style other on the breakfast bar to choose from during the pandemic. Gave the hotel extra value and was so appreciated by all.

  stayed at the Southern Oaks Inn Dec 10, 11 and 12/2020. The staff is terrific, the free breakfast is very good and the rooms are clean and well appointed . I'll be staying here again when I'm in St Augustine.

  Very good visit

  Just returned from Southern Oaks Inn for a Monday thru Wed stay. Wasn’t clear from some of the information I’d checked online but they do charge $20 for each night with a dog. We had our golden doodle with us. They placed us in a room close to the enclosed dog yard (nice sized and well maintained). Although we had our own food bowls they had included two bowls as well as a bed in the room. There is a train that runs three times a night so keep that in mind but it wasn’t very noticeable. Nice location with courtesy van service for both you and your furry friend into town. Would stay there again.

  Highly recommend this hotel for your stay with your dog! The room was spotless our entire stay as was the check-in and dining area. After using the fresh big bed they provided for my corgi, I've pretty much decided I have to go buy one just like it for home. The fenced in dog park has loads of grass, shade, and benches to sit on. Breakfast is provided and is quite tasty. Best cheese grits I've had in a while! We had a microwave and refrigerator in our room to, so that was nice to keep our drinks cold and heat up our leftovers. Thank you Southern Oaks Inn! We will definitely be back.

  Excellent choice for those traveling with their dog. The room was very clean and even had a dog bed big enough for our 115 pound boy. Very large, fenced dog park and plenty of grounds to walk around. We will be back.

  We had a great time at this hotel. Nothing fancy for humans, but the dog amenities are amazing! The dog park was large and well taken care of, the dog bed and bowls in the room were so thoughtful. Location is great close to all the popular attractions and parking & breakfast was included.

  This hotel offers pet friendly rooms, upon check-in you are given a list of pet friendly restaurants and pet friendly activities, and directions to all the dog parks in the area. The hotel has a gated dog play area. This is a great place to stay if you are bringing your 4 legged children with you. This is our preferred hotel when we are in the St Augustine area.

  Fantastic stay.

  Great place to stay with your fur baby. Knowing we were bringing our dog they had a dog bed and bowls waiting in the room and it wasn't some flimsy cheap bed either. It was big and fluffy and where Taffy could be found whenever we were in the room. Then there is the dog park. Again, not just some little patch of grass to walk your dog but a huge grassy fenced in area that they can run in off leash. In the middle of the dog park is a covered pavilion where we relaxed while Taffy investigated the area. As for us humans, they furnish a fantastic full breakfast every morning, not just a simple continental breakfast like many places nowadays. As a bonus, its also within 5 to 10 minutes of all of the attractions. We will definitely be back.

  The Dog-Friendliest

  We have stayed at Southern Oaks 4 times now with our two large dogs. This hotel doesn’t just “allow” pets, they truly cater to them. They have a really nice fenced in dog park, plus a nice large shaded, grassy area for leash walking. Our room had a giant doggie bed and complementary collapsing water bowls waiting for us when we arrived. Other perks include a pretty decent free breakfast (for the human guests only, of course.) The pool is nice, with a partial shade covering, and the hotel itself is conveniently located to both the historic district and the beaches. The only negative thing I would say about the hotel is that the standard rooms are VERY small, to the point it’s difficult to freely move around in them, especially if you’re traveling with a large dog(s.) There really isn’t any room to set up a crate, it’s that cramped. But, if you don’t mind the close quarters and plan to do little more than sleep in your room, Southern Oaks is about as pet friendly as they get at a pretty good bargain, too.

  We have 3 dogs and they had a great time. The dog park on the property is really nice! Staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Very close to historic/ tourist area. Plenty of parking.
  The room was a little small, other than that, it was a perfect stay.
