Annoying Foghorn all day all night

This place is a mixed bag. The biggest downside is the continuous noise from the foghorn across the bay--it blows every 8 seconds all day and all night. This was so loud that I found it very distracting during the day (couldn't enjoy reading my book on the patio) and impossible to sleep at night, despite closing the sliding door, using ear plugs (provided by the management) and playing new age music. So for the good: nice, largish room on ground level; king bed; 2 easy chairs; small bistro table and chairs; barrier free shower in a large bathroom, but no tub; nice back patio with a strip of grass, enclosed by a fence and privacy hedge for the dog; easy parking; fridge and microwave; a few snacks provided. Heat provided by a quaint fake pot belly stove, but no A/C, so when I closed the slider for noise control, the room became rather stuffy. Although the property is technically bay-front, there is no water access nearby. My Google Map search indicated the nearest beach was a 1.1 mile walk (or 0.5 mile walk if you drove to the beach parking lot). Now, there may have been closer beach access, but there is no on-site management to ask and my phone calls to the innkeeper took a day or more to be returned. The nearest restaurant is about a half mile away. There is no fast food or convenience store nearby as this property is in a residential neighborhood. On the south side is a vacant lot with foxtail weeds, but there is no other good dog walking area near by. Although this is a dog friendly room, the management requests that you don't allow your dogs on the chairs or beds. Many other places I have stayed provide sheets to cover their furniture. My dogs are allowed up on furniture at home, so they assume they can do so on the road. Why not provide sheets? They charge $50 per day for a pet, so asking to keep the dogs off of the bed seems a bit much. The other caveat is that this property has a 1 week cancelation policy, so that when I left a day early because I found the noise unmanageable, I still got charged for the second night that I didn't use, although I am going to ask for the $50 dog fee for the second night to be refunded. If you find a foghorn blowing to be a welcome part of the seaside ambiance, and you don't mind being far from a beach, this may be your place. The view outside the room is quite lovely, and outside of the foghorn, it is quite peaceful and quiet.

    The Best!!

I just had a mini-vacation with my dog Jodi. We stayed in the Maverick room. Everything was wonderful. Upon arrival, there were doggie treats and other amenities. There were also people treats! The room was clean, bed was comfy, bathroom was luxurious with "spa" robes, and a nice fenced yard/patio off the room with a harbor view was ideal. LOVED IT!
