We left because the door would not lock. The room was not very clean and smelled vaguely like a urinal. People were wandering around in the parking lot and walkways and seemed friendly but I think they were planning to party and we were not looking for that atmosphere. The dogs didn't want to go in the room at all but even without them we would have left. We drove on and found another hotel luckily!

We read the other reviews for this hotel after we had booked our room, and we were pretty concerned about what we were walking into. After checking in, we were somewhat pleasantly surprised. The room was basic but clean. We got a good night's sleep and a good shower. The hotel is in a convenient location for travelers. It is a basic hotel in Texarkana, TX, so set your expectations appropriately, and you will be happy.

I chose this because of the higher rating but was very disappointed. Even with a low nightly rate, I expect a room to be free of bugs and clean. We walked in to a giant twitching roach on a very dirty and sticky floor. The blankets had cigarette burns and the bathroom had a busted and glued door, very worn tub and shabby towels. There was loud music, yelling and door slamming at midnight + and a guy walking around testing doors with his key card.
I’ve stayed in places in this condition in a pinch but this deserves a 1 star.

Dirty, cockroaches, cigarette burns on sheets, no mini fridge, no microwave, room was supposedly a non-smoking room but smelled of smoke. Feel like I need another shower and a tetanus shot after staying there!

The clerk checking us in upon arrival insisted that the credit card used had been declined and that we needed to pay. However, the reservation had been paid in full and had been confirmed. Apparently, this has been happening at this Motel 6. It got straightened out but was stressful. Separately, the room smelled of cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking room. Lastly, the bedspread had small holes in it. Despite being convenient and economical, I would pay more for a nicer hotel next time.

Smoke free room didn't quite live up to its name

The hotel itself was nice for what you pay for. There was value for the price and the rooms themselves. We had an issue with the toilet and the guy came and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. Customer service was fabulous and for a no frills cheap room it was great.
However, the hotel is "rough around the edges" in terms of location. We witnessed prositution (and one of the rooms that these acts were in was the room above us) and the back side of the hotel was littered with homelessness. We had a few homeless people try to bum stuff from us when we went outside.
The hotel still gets 4 bones even though we didn't get any sleep because the rooms were clean, customer service was great, and the rooms had microwave/fridge, which we were NOT expecting for the room rate we paid. The beds were also decently enough comfortable as well.
If I have to evacuate again, I'd probably choose another location - but if I needed a cheap pet friendly room in Texarkana again, I would consider staying again - just locking myself in the room to avoid the unpleasantries outside.
