- JulieAug 17, 2023Not bad
Dogs not really welcomed with arms wide open. They are not allowed in main lodge. There are multiple buildings not attached to main building. Main building has the breakfast so if it's raining take a jacket to walk there. Decent amount of grass to walk dog. Rooms were older but not bad. Read prior reviews about bugs - didn't notice any. AC units are in windows/walls and are a bit loud. No microwave in room but small fridge. Lodge location was nice, not far from ferry. Breakfast was sausage links, pancakes, waffle maker, muffins, milk, orange juice, coffee, water. Lodge was selling tickets to Ferry at discount rate and the Sheplers ferry is dog friendly; no extra cost and they were almost all very dog friendly.
- LaimaAug 9, 2023Adequate
Not many obvious pet friendly choices in the area. Pluses were friendly staff and nice lawn area. The room was dated, grungy and stained carpet. The walls are paper thin. We could easily hear the next door occupants. When they ran water or showered it was especially noticeable. The price seemed high for the quality, but I presume the location commands it. We did have a view of the water.
- KelliAug 4, 2023Needs major updating
Stayed two nights. Chose this hotel since it’s pet friendly. The grounds were the only reason I gave it 3 bones. The room itself was clean and comfortable but felt like a 70’s throwback motel. The fridge was small and the air conditioner was very loud.
- PatraJul 27, 2023Great location and friendly staff
Nice accommodation for a two night stay. Right across the street from grocery and convenience store. Easy to pick up the sidewalk for walking into town with our two little princess dogs. We really enjoyed our walks. The Mackinac Island SHEPLER’S shuttle does FREE pickups from the front lobby (dogs ok on shuttle). Room had a fridge but no microwave. Clean. Nice shower. Free breakfast offered sausage links, pancakes, waffles, cereal, muffins, juice & coffee (lots of carbs). Overall a nice place. Friendly staff.
- TracyOct 14, 2022great place!
We had a little cabin in the pines section! The front desk people were cool and our dog loved it!
- TimAug 4, 2022Could use a bit of updating
Limited per friendly options in St. Ignace, and it's a fine, clean place to stay. Lobby and gift shop are adorable. Breakfast is good. Bathrooms are dated and fixtures well used. Not all rooms have microwaves. Will stay here when we're in the area again.

I felt very comfortable having my dog here. There are large grassy areas, a nice view, roomy rooms and only 15 extra for our 60 lb dog. The rooms are older but clean and have all the necessary amenities. The location is great and the complex is quite big. Everyone was friendly.
- ElizabethAug 9, 2021Clean but tired rugs and furniture
There were lots of good walking paths and lawns on the premises but our room was dark and worn.
- JenniferJul 25, 2021Beautiful grounds for your pup
Pros: Great location, large beautiful grounds for the dog to run and poop or for the family to play. Reception area was welcoming and there was a cute little shop. Simple grab and go breakfasts. Beds were comfortable and water was hot. The carpet was already stained so I wasn't worried about my dog (not that I was to begin with.) Pool seemed nice but unfortunately was closed. Lake views. Cons: Rooms were underwhelming to say they least, linens were clean but I found a couple stains. Walls were thin. Inadequate parking. Shower didn't drain well and the screen door was broken. Price was right for a summer weekend in the area for the quality of the rooms.
- LarryOct 14, 2019This place really is dog-friendly!
Very comfortable rooms, reasonable prices, friendly staff. The hot breakfast is a nice perk and better than you might expect. Lots of grassy areas for dog walks.
- TinaOct 12, 2019Disappointed
Room was dirty, very noisy, staff was not very friendly. Very Disappointed. Breakfast was not very plentiful either.
- ChrisMore than a year agoVery Pet friendly
We 2 labs and it was very responsible priced to stay and we had a blast with our 2 four legged kids . It had a awesome breakfast Including in our stay as well.. very clean ..friendly staff. We stayed end September 2017
would highly recommend if in the area to make a reservation - Candace OdellMore than a year agoA wonderful place to stay!
I visited Cedar Hill Lodge last summer, 2016. I brought my dog with me and we were welcomed with open arms. Even received a doggy "welcome" bag. The employees were so helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate and the room was clean, large and the bed quite comfortable. The breakfast selection was very good and fresh. I, or should I say "we" will be back in 2017 and I know I will not be disappointed.
