Harley, the owner, was very nice as well as the rest of the staff. In fact, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The place is unique and historic. Would recommend and the no pet fee was a pleasant surprise.

Loved the openness and ease of come and go here. There was no problem at all and there were other dogs with other guests. It is difficult to decide what to do with your dog during the fabulous breakfast, but thankfully our boy is trustworthy to leave alone for that long. No real dog amenities here, but they are happy to have them. A waste station would be a nice addition, I had to go locate the main trash dumpster.

We enjoyed our stay at Duff Green Mansion-room -(Dixie Suite) was beautiful, super clean, perfect for us and our pup. The only snag - not all the guests like dogs- Our girl barked at a couple entering their room -we entered our room, and our pup settled and fell asleep in a few minutes. About 45 minutes later I received a text from Rick at reservations asking if we were in our room, because “guests are complaining about barking.” I explained that she barked a couple of times at two guests, and she was asleep- not barking. He stated “as long as she’s quiet it’s ok, a barking dog disturbs our eight other guests.” Of course I understand this- (our dog is a good girl).
That’s when Harley, the owner, swooped in and saved the day. My husband called her- I got on the phone, (I was a bit emo) she kindly let us know she had moved the “grouchy guests” to another area of the hotel, to please enjoy our stay, and don’t worry about a thing. She made us feel welcome and seemed very understanding because “every now and then a dog‘s gonna bark” (our puppy got comfy and did not make a sound from 9pm until 5:15 AM) She let out a couple of barks, then about an hour and a half later she barked twice then went back to sleep. I absolutely would stay there again - it’s a unique experience-very special.
Don’t miss the 8:30am 3 course breakfast- my husband said it was fabulous! (I stayed in the room with our pup- she was quiet, and sweet- (she did give the aforementioned couple one bark as we left lol) I recommend calling the owner directly when you have a pet with you to make sure your room is away from any non-pet friendly guests. I give Duff Green Mansion 5 bones- the 4 bone rating is for the “grouchy guest” - I understand not everyone enjoys traveling with a pet, but we all have to learn to get along and respect each other. This is the longest review I’ve ever written, but I love my puppy and wanted to make sure I detailed the experience for other pets lovers planning a stay. it was near perfect- I’m looking forward to my next visit.
