    Room was clean and comfortable. Grounds were nice for a outdoor break with dog.

    Also provided seating area with a great view.

    Not As Advertised

    Staff was nice upon check-in but pool was closed (in August) and was too far from downtown to walk. Was also inexplicably charged for two pets (only have 1) and had to sort out with management.

    Makes Motel 6 look good...

    If you (like me) were thinking that this quaint sounding place with a view of the Hudson sounds idyllic, think again. At first (entrance) its promising. But the minute you see the registration desk cum breakfast room, not to mention your own room, you'll wish you stayed elsewhere. VERY spartan, zero charm or taste. And then there are the trains that blast their horns what seems like every 15 minutes as they roar by right under the hotel.

    Adequate Accommodation

    I had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was better than expected! And there was room for improvement. I am delighted that the hotel accepts pets. The room was basic, clean and comfortable. My complaints perhaps are minor. But given the nightly rate, I would have appreciated a TV that was functioning ( I was told that the manager couldn’t address the issue until after I was checking out. I requested that he/she call me nonetheless, but that didn’t happen). And with only one person at the front desk, I waited 15 minutes in line in a lobby that seemed to be under construction to check in. I actually arrived two hours before check-in but was not offered the opportunity to check in early. So I returned one hour after check in. Also, please know that one hears train whistles throughout the night. So if you are a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you. I also would have appreciated some nicer toilettris other than two small bars of soap, two small bottles of shampoo and only two bath towels- no wash cloths nor hand towels in a double room. As for location, otherwise, it’s both picturesque and close to town.

    Stunning views

    We stayed in a room with a balcony that had such a lovely view of the Hudson. The room was clean. The room was not fancy but acceptable. With a renovation, this place could be spectacular. Our pup was comfy and that’s what was most important! We really want to check out the restaurant, having heard such great things, but it was closed for a wedding. We will be back!
