The Anchor Inn offered a plain and clean room with a spectacular view of Seneca Lake, but limited front desk hours are a problem. A really gorgeous stream next to the motel.

I just stayed at this establishment. They advertise as being pet friendly, but they really are not. One of their rules is you can't leave your pet unattended in the room, even if it is in a carrier/crate/pen. So that means you can only go to pet friendly restaurants, bars, attractions in Watkins Glen. I was told it's not their rule, but a state rule - not true - I contacted a couple other pet friendly hotels in Watkins Glen and other Finger Lakes hotels - all said it was okay to leave pet unattended as long as it was crated. They require a cell phone, so you can be contacted in case your pet is disturbing other guests. This is what I've experienced at every other lodging place I've stayed. Had to select at least one bone, but really, ZERO BONES - NOT PET FRIENDLY.
