The Garden City Inn is a perfect location if you and your pet want to be steps from the beach. There is an area in front of the hotel for doggy business with bags and a disposal container, as well as a sidewalk for walking across the street. This is an older facility but our oceanfront room was clean and comfortable. We visited May 30-31 and dogs were permitted on the beach 5 PM to 10 AM. Shelby likes Camp Bow Wow but was happy to be on vacation with his family.

Garden City Inn is a wonderful old hotel updated with modern amenities. Clean & comfy. The staff went above and beyond to assure we had everything we needed. A+

This hotel claimed to have been renovated, but it looked like they threw paint on and called it done. The oven got so hot just cooking frozen that you couldn’t touch the knobs. The fridge was off balance and rocked back and forth when you opened it. The bathroom sink faucet handle fell off and there was a black roach on the wall. The internet was May as well have not been offered because it was slower than molasses and you were lucky if anything loaded, the only way to get use out of it was to sit outside near the pool. The pet poop area was 2 foot wide and about 40ft long and was right beside the road. The beds were too high off the floor and caused a dangerous situation for our dogs due to the floor being slick laminate, when they tried to jump or down their legs would slide out from under them. These “pet friendly” hotels are starting to be a race to the bottom!

Our reservations in Myrtle Beach got cancelled thanks to Hurricane Florence. I looked online at BringFido, but wasn't really finding anything that looked suitable. I called and spoke with a BringFido representative who convinced me to book the Garden City Inn. I passed judgment and had a bad idea in my head before we even arrived. Boy was I wrong! This place was amazing! Yes, it is very small and nothing like we are used to, but it was super clean and the staff were amazing. When we arrived we were on the first floor which meant we couldn't leave our little Dachshund out there to people watch. I mentioned it to the lady at the desk and she had us moved to the third floor without any hesitation. All the cleaning staff were fabulous. Super friendly and catered to us like we were their only guests. Even the maintenance guy was super friendly and stopped to have conversations with us. It is directly on the beach and the pool was super clean. The only negative things I can say is there is no elevator and it would've been great to have a hot tub. But, those are by no means a deal breaker. We'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends. We made several new friendships with other guests that you wouldn't have at a larger resort.
