Description
The Haycock Manor Hotel is set in the picturesque village of Wansford surrounded by unspoilt Cambridgeshire stone cottages. This 16th Century Coaching Inn has a remarkable and eventful past. Both Mary Queen of Scots and the young Queen Victoria have been visitors. It is even said that the Haycock once changed hands over a game of cards. The Haycock is locally renowned for it's 18th century sign which depicts the drunken Barnaby on his haycock. The story tells that one day Barnaby fell asleep and awoke several hours later to find himself afloat in the river. He asked a passer by where he was - Wansford was the reply to which the amazed Barnaby shouted what Wansford-In-England.
