Stay was ok but place needs a little freshening up of room, hallway and grounds. Stayed in older area and it was old. May not stay again. Staff was super friendly.

Despite the hotel website's claim that they "constantly upgrade and improve the furnishings," our room was neither particularly upgraded or improved. Maybe it's just because we were in a pet friendly room, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I dropped something on the laminate floor that rolled under the bed and when I got down on the floor to pick it up, I noticed it was filthy under both beds. A little Swiffering would go a long way, but it didn't look like it had been cleaned since they moved the furniture in.
When our cat knocked my water off the end table, I grabbed a clean white hand towel to soak it up. I only wiped enough to absorb the water, but that was enough that the towel was grey and filthy from unmopped floors. There were four windows in the room and all had blinds (no curtains at all). One window was double width, so instead of hanging a blind that fit, they hung two leaving a gap in the middle. None of the blinds matched any of the others, even on the big window. There were hooks on the walls where curtain rods used to hang, but with no curtains it was possible to see into the room from the outside; additionally, the outside porch lights were on a timer that went off pretty late, and without curtains the room stayed dimly lit at night until they went off.
The staff was pleasant enough and gave us a stack of extra towels when asked, but there's no way they are actually doing any enhanced cleaning. This is certainly not the "the crown jewel of Maggie Valley Hotels" (according to the Smoky Falls Lodge website), but It's about what you'd expect for the price. As long as you don't have high expectations, the place is okay, but next time I think we'll check out a different place.
