    suspicious staff

    we booked this hotel the last minute due to the california fires. Ended up at the hotel to check in at around 1am. While I was checking in, the staff informed us that "that the room and the rest of the similar styled rooms, all had malfunctioning ac units. " I requested to be placed in a different room but the staff informed me that I will have to pay an additional $100/night. It seemed suspicious that the rooms with individual ac units all of a sudden had malfunctioning ac and I got the impression that the staff was trying to make more money. We ended up leaving the place and booking at a different hotel for the price that they were asking.
