Description

Campsites are available from March 1 through early December. Cabins can be rented year round with a few exceptions that exclude holiday check-in dates during some non-summer holidays (for example your first day in a cabin cannot be on Thanksgiving). The 20 cabins are located on the opposite side of Shore Drive from the campground. There is a camp store, in the same building complex as the main office, that sells a variety of camping supplies, firewood, and basic food items. They also rent bicycles. Next to the camp store is a small laundry facility. It has a few coin operated washers and dryers.

    First time here

This was our first time camping in our tent here but it was a memorable stay! We were there last year at the end of June… stayed a few days & awakened by the trumpet sounds early in the morning from the military base close by. No problem🥱😳😆…we had a large area to set up camp & for the dog to run around (on a long leash) & enjoy our time there. We plan on visiting here again. Great spot.

Beach, History and Intriguing Forest Swamp

Barleycorn and I enjoyed a tentsite at the park in May before the summer beach season got underway. So we had nearly empty Chesapeake Bay-side beach to walk and wade in. There were a number of other dogs at the campground--they must stay on leash or line. Virginia Beach had dog parks and even a couple of doggie restaurant options! Set beside Fort Story, this park gets morning and evening broadcasts of revelry which was a surprise! The park has amazingly beautiful bald cypress hiking trails. The Bay being less surfy than the nearby ocean was a great place for my pup to try out a salt water swim with small waves. American history was made at this park!
