Ponderosa Pine Mountain Escape
A secluded mountain getaway for honeymoons, anniversaries, families and friends. Experience a private log cabin with all the modern amenities. The secluded Rocky Mountain log cabin overlooking Boulder canyon is surrounded by the mountains, wildlife, endless trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing/ snowshoe off property. The cabin offers modern conveniences, 360° breathtaking mountain views with distant night light shows of Boulder. This is the true essence of Colorado. We don't offer crowded bedrooms, but instead have spacious bedrooms for 1 - 2 people, sitting areas with mountain views, and plenty of private, peaceful acreage. Enjoy a glass of wine from a spacious wrap around deck and take in the smell of Ponderosa Pines, and sweet mountain air. This cabin offers the perfect setting to kick back and be reminded of what matters most in life, or a base to get outside and play in one of our country's most beautiful playgrounds. Completely remodeled summer of 2018, this traditional log cabin has 2,300 square feet offering bar seating, dining room, open living room with wood pellet stove, private office with computer hook ups/printer/ scanner and views of the continental divide, 3rd story views of mountains. We provide a pack-n-play and infant seat for babies. Access to local wilderness guides, in-home therapeutic massage professional, fishing guides, and local places to kayak. Each bedroom is spacious with Stearns & Foster mattress or Beauty-rest, 100% cotton premium sheets and bedding, extra pillows/blankets and sitting areas. Again, we don't cram in multiple beds as we personally travel extensively, and appreciate open space to rest and work when gathering with family & friends.
We love to entertain, so we just purchased a brand new (2020) Kitchen aide stainless steal double door refrigerator, blender, slow cooker, and multiple other cooking aids so that cooking a feast won't be challenging. If it's not there, ask. We can loan you our own personal supply. We have 2 sets of high end dishware, with multiple sets of flatware. Our living room furniture is name brand and custom (Bradington Young, Pottery Barn, heirloom antiques and North Carolina custom made sofas), to make for a comfortable stay. Area rugs are 100% wool: perfect for bare feet (we have slip-on sanitized indoor shoes to loan). It's a top priority to us that as our guests, you feel truly at home in luxury.
Layout: The first floor has spacious great room with full couch that is a fold out queen bed with memory foam mattress, two overstuffed easy chairs, and a 50” flat screen t.v. (satellite, HBO, ESPN, Netflix, etc), offering mountain views from 2+ story lofted windows(2) guest bedrooms (queen beds) offering sitting areas, ample closet space. 2nd floor entire master suite: open floor plan with office area (2nd floor balcony) separating master suite from stairwell to 1st floor. King bed, full size custom sofa/spacious sitting area, large walk-in closet, open bathroom area with Jacuzzi bath tub, walk in shower & double sinks, mountain views in three directions. High end linens, towels, and toiletries.
Guests have access to board games, internet access throughout, and books for your enjoyment, and collector item toys for little ones. We are LGBTQ welcoming. [Please keep in mind: Due to extensive drought conditions in Colorado, there is no smoking of any kind on the property or in the cabin, and water is at a premium throughout CO.]
Ponderosa Pine Mountain Cabin has a wide wrap around deck (with 360° mountain views), with multiple seating arrangements for meals and relaxing, gas grill for outdoor dining. Our place is ideal for mountain escapes, families, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry companions (One well behaved dog permitted with prior approval.).
Arrival details and parking: We provide a lock box located to the bottom right of the front door. The key code and directions will be provided to you prior to your arrival. We live in a garden apartment located on the property and are happy to answer any questions you might have. We provide parking space for (2) cars for guests. They are easy to spot once you turn onto the driveway-- they are angular (on your left), half way up driveway, lit with two solar lights at dusk. You are welcome to text or call us with any questions or concerns you might have. The only shared property is our driveway, and we will pull out of the garage and exit around your vehicles. You may see us coming or going about our daily lives via the driveway, otherwise we respect your privacy and hope you have a wonderful visit.
Location: We are 8.5 miles to Nederland where wonderful restaurants, live music & craft breweries, grocery store, post office, artsy shops, coffee shops abound--and as a quintessential mountain town, "Ned" is also home to Eldora Mountain Ski resort. The cabin is approximately 20 minutes to Eldora. In winter weather we HIGHLY RECOMMEND 4WD/AWD VEHICLES with good-tread-tires.
Here, you get the best of both worlds: secluded mountain surroundings on 3.5 heavily wooded acres backing up to 2 national forests: only 12.5 miles to Boulder (University of Colorado), 8.5 miles to Nederland, Eldora Ski Resort, and 54 miles to Denver International Airport. Folks come to leave all the worries and stresses behind, to experience healthy outdoor living and each of the four season' beauty that Colorado has to offer. You'll love the peace, quiet and seclusion of this cabin any time of the year. The only traffic jam you are likely to come in contact with up here are our 3-400 elk herds. We are not on any major mountain thoroughfare. Keep an eye out for wildlife. Aspen Meadows is known as an elk migration area in spring and fall. We have regular herd of 300 elk grazing through the property, moose, mountain lions (currently have a pride of 5), mule deer, marmots, pine martin, bobcats and the occasional bear live in the neighborhood. It's a truly enchanting part of the country.
Boulder Canyon (Hwy.119) is the road most folks take from Boulder to Nederland. (20 - 30 minute drive) It is a spectacular drive, and 4wd is not necessary in the summer months. [However 4wd is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED during winter months.] Along Boulder Canyon outdoor enthusiasts can easily see mountain climbers, runners, bikers, backpacking, kayaking. This cabin is located half way between the two diverse communities of Boulder and Nederland.
What is close to Ponderosa Pine Mountain Cabin: From our cabin you will be able to take one of Colorado's most scenic highways to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (1+ hr. drive-- but plan to take longer because there are so many beautiful photo opps. along the way). Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is one of the most frequented outdoor adventure areas in the west for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and the scenery jaw dropping gorgeous (20 minutes from the cabin). Central City and Black Hawk are 100 year old mining communities, and are very popular stops for their casinos, and nightly shows. Magnolia Road (the cabin is just off of here) is extremely popular for mountain biking with hundreds of miles of forest service trails open to snow shoeing, trail running, hiking, and cross country skiing. It's a mecca for Olympians and internationally recognized professional athletes that come to train. Gross Reservoir is accessed on the road directly across from the cabin, and is popular for kayaking, and fishing. White water rafting is 30 minutes away in Coal Creek Canyon. Boulder Creek runs parallel to the road you will travel to get to the cabin. In daylight, you will notice it is very popular for fly fishing, and mountain climbing. There is a mountain guide shop in Nederland that has great resources for each of these activities. With a bit of advance notice, we can help provide: wilderness & fly fishing guide services, a therapeutic massage professional who will come to the cabin, all for your visit . Your only limitations will be those you place on yourself.
Once you have made your reservation, we will forward a rental agreement (a requirement of our homeowners insurance) which can be signed and returned to us on line, so that we can finalize your reservation.
