My husband and I stayed at Paradise/Let the Good Times Roll in Lake Lure at the end of September with our dog. The view of the mountain in the distance was really great and the stars at night were amazing!
There were a few problems. The house itself was nice but could have been cleaner especially in regards to the bathroom shower curtains which were visibly moldy and smelled of mildew covered up with stale febreeze. This smell permeated the master bedroom even with the bathroom door shut. I appreciate that we can bring our dogs but what I don’t appreciate is that the past people who stayed there had a dog that shed and the Cleaning Service missed some of the hair which I had to clean up. The kicker is I had to leave an extra 30 bucks on top of the $150 Cleaning Service for my non shedding dog.
The grill/smoker is in really bad shape, rusty and dirty and needs to be replaced. I appreciated that there were board games but we were pretty isolated and although we knew this upfront, would have really appreciated a finished lower level with a pool table or ping pong table and a hot tub on the deck. The yard does have a fire pit in the back but it’s a very sloped yard and the chairs around it were pretty dirty so chose not to use it. The owner was nice and responsive during our stay. I did let her know about the cleaning situation after we checked out but I never heard back from her. We enjoyed our stay for the most part but because of the above aforementioned items, I would probably choose a different house next time I visit the lake Lure area.
