- MichaelSep 10, 2024Loved the stay!
We stayed 3 nights! Nice, clean, dogs were very happy!
- JudithSep 10, 2024Nice Stay
Clean, comfortable. Decent place to walk the dog. No pet fee. I would stay again.
- SusanAug 24, 2024Friendly Place
Nice and clean.
- JoanAug 14, 2024Very Clean and Comfortable
This location was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was very nice, and we felt safe and enjoyed our overnight stay. Our pups were very good there. Not a lot of noise that would have made them bark. They slept in their crates and were quiet all night. This location has been renovated it seemed, and it is very nice. Our first time booking here, and it was so much easier than trying to find pet friendly rooms on other sites. Our new go-to!
- KimAug 12, 2024Nice stay
Nice, clean quiet hotel. The rooms had everything we needed for overnight stay. Dogs were very comfortable.
- LoraineAug 11, 2024Mediocre accommodations
The beds were nice and comfy but the hotel itself is old and terribly in need of new or at least cleaned carpeting in the dog section hallways. The bathroom door barely closed and the outdoor dog grass section was very small.
- JuliaAug 8, 2024Quiet and adequate
Just fine for an overnight stop on a road trip. Could have been cleaner, but it was quiet enough so that our pup didn’t bark at every little noise, which was our main concern. Would give 3.5 bones if that was an option.
- BelindaJul 23, 2024Ok
It was ok for my dog, however we wanted sheets for the pull out couch for our daughter to sleep on and told they didn’t have any extra sheets at all. We had to ask for a remote for the TV. Nowhere delivers pizza to that hotel.
- DeniseJul 13, 2024Nice location
For a one-night stopover, the room was very acceptable and very dog friendly!
- KathyMay 16, 2024Nice surprise on meeting expectations
The hotel was very clean, except for sticky floors in the room. Really appreciated the front desk putting us on the first floor close to the back door where there was a nice pet area with dog bags and a trash can nearby. Breakfast was nice with both waffle and pancake maker, along with decent biscuits and gravy. The staff was friendly and helpful on dinner options.
- ChrisApr 7, 2024Quiet location
No complaints at all! Nice and clean with a friendly staff.
- JenniferMar 30, 2024Great spot in nice area!
Hotel was clean and smelled nice. Pet rooms had easy access to green areas outside. They had stands outside with poop bags and receptacles. Took our puppy out several times alone in the middle of the night and felt very safe. Lovely free breakfast. Concierge was friendly and helpful.
- AnneMar 20, 2024Lovely overnight stop!
This hotel was easy to get to off I-65. It's quiet and clean, and we had a first floor room. There's plenty of space for walking dogs, and it isn't far from some quick food options for dinner.
- LucindaMar 2, 2024Pet friendly
Super clean and very pet friendly. Would definitely stay again.
- SusanFeb 24, 2024Great stay
Perfect stop for the night. Thank you.
- BeverlyFeb 24, 2024Great location
Friendly staff, clean room, great breakfast. Wonderful area to walk the dog.
- JanaFeb 4, 2024Great location
Enjoyed our stay with 2 small dogs. The room was on the ground floor with easy access. No carpet and room for the dogs to play. Would definitely stay again!
- KateJan 19, 2024Great stay!
Easy to access, super pet friendly. No carpets in the room which I love!
- DianaJan 7, 2024Great location
Nice, big clean rooms and lots of grass space for walking and potty breaks.
- TommyeJan 5, 2024Doggone good
We have stayed here before and will again. Good grass and well lighted. Lots of first floor rooms. Decent breakfast. Right off Interstate 65.
- LoriDec 23, 2023Nice stay
Clean, roomy, and hotel front desk agent very friendly and helpful! If I'm in the area I will definitely stay again!
- SusanNov 20, 2023Great Hotel
Great hotel!! Staff was friendly and very helpful. Nicely renovated rooms. Comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- EloOct 21, 2023Still undergoing renovations
Renovations are continuing but mostly complete. Complimentary breakfast was very good. No issues. Would stay again.
- MarieOct 1, 2023Large, clean rooms
Nice grassy area out back with bags. Good breakfast too.
- KathySep 4, 2023Nice stay
They were in the process of renovating the hotel but it was very nice and clean. They also put us in an end room knowing we had a dog.
- KimberlyJul 23, 2023Great location!
Quiet, under renovation but not an inconvenience. Easy for us to access with an elderly dog. Would stay here again and recommend for a pet owner.
- EvaMay 30, 2023Quiet location
Lots of green space for the pups. Room was clean and quiet. Love the ability to leave pup in room alone to grab dinner. Would stay again.
- GailMay 1, 2023Great experience
This hotel was clean, smelled great, and was dog friendly. Lots of other customers brought their fur babies. Would def stay here again.
- MarshaApr 22, 2023Great hotel
It was great for the dogs and us. It was clean and a great place for the dogs. Would use this hotel anytime!
- EivinMar 23, 2023Great place!
Not only was it pet friendly, but human friendly, too! Excellent gym and breakfast! I will coming back!
- DavidMar 23, 2023Fantastic stay
Nice area, large room, property well kept, excellent dog walking area. Very clean and staff was extremely pleasant.
- ErinMar 19, 2023Amazing rooms!!!
This hotel was the best stop during our cross country trip. The room was HUGE, clean and beautifully decorated. There is a great grassy area for the dogs to use. Hotel was full but quiet. I highly recommend this hotel.
- LynMar 14, 2023Great location
Clean rooms and nice staff.
- DawnMar 5, 2023Nice room, safe area
Room was so clean that my white socks stayed white after walking around the room in the evening. Staff was very accommodating. Well lit parking lot for walking the dog.
- MarianneFeb 24, 2023Nice large area for pup!!
Our room was clean. Desk clerks were all friendly and efficient. Outdoor area for pups is the nicest we've found in all of our travels. A huge, grassy field site a few doggie dodo areas complete with bags and can. Our dog was welcome in the courtyard area outside the pool. We enjoyed the warm evening with a couple cocktails. Area is quiet even though highway is nearby. They are doing renovations so a nice hotel already will be even nicer. We rested well in a very comfortable bed before continuing on our road trip.
- ValerieJan 26, 2023Decent stay
The room didn’t have carpet and was very basic. There was a coffee pot, microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom had a small shampoo/conditioner combo bottle and a small bar of Dove soap. My son’s bath towel was stained. The room was clean, luckily no odors. The walls are thin so you can hear when people are using the elevator or coming through the hallway. Breakfast had a good variety. Area felt safe and parking was well lit.
- MichaelJan 24, 2023Good choice
Clean, friendly staff, nice breakfast.
- SallieannJan 15, 2023Puppies
Great stay.
- CharlesJan 7, 2023Excellent overnight stay
Very accommodating, pets were comfortable, nice new room. Still need to clean up outside, but the walking path nearby was very nice!
- JonJan 4, 2023Very nice facility
Great location, beautiful breakfast area. Will stay here again.
- GeorgeDec 6, 2022Best La Quinta
Great staff. Nice inn.
- KevinNov 18, 2022Nice room
Clean, well-kept, and spacious. Small area for dogs outside but sufficient.
- AthenaOct 30, 2022Purrfectly fine!!
I liked that there wasn’t carpet in the rooms, the bed slept nice, and towels were actually home quality soft!!! The only complaint I have is that the hall noise can’t be avoided because there isn’t a proper seal around the door to the room. Light from the hall came through the room. It wasn’t majorly bright and a rolled up towel solved the problem. I couldn’t hear anyone through the walls of adjoining rooms so that’s a plus!! The breakfast was great!! Clean, well organized, and PLENTY of options for everyone’s taste!! We always stay at this location when in town for the occasional concert!!
- SusanSep 29, 2022Great location but noisy
We had a similar experience to several other reviewers. Hotel is in a great location (easy on and off interstate). Lots of green spaces around hotel to allow dogs to relieve themselves and I appreciated the two waste collection stations which made it convenient to throw away poop bags. The room was clean enough for my standards and really liked having a room with no carpeting. Heavy disinfectant or air freshener smell in hallways. Not sure what that was about. My only complaint was noise in hallways throughout the night kept my dogs ( two mini Aussies) up and “on alert” so I was up and on alert trying to control their barking. Every little sound seem to come right through the walls. Loved the price of the room and the fact that dogs could stay free but probably won’t stay here again due to noise and lack of sleep. I am willing to pay more for a good night's sleep.
- PeterSep 15, 2022Dogs stay free!
We liked the non-carpeted floors; an excellent idea for the occasional accident even though our dog is very well behaved.
- LaurieSep 11, 2022Just ok
Rooms were decent, green space sufficient, but the paper thin walls made our pup bark half the night. We could hear every little noise in our room.
- JeanSep 6, 2022Issues
Bathroom door broken. Water leaked all over the floor during the night from the refrigerator.
- KellySep 5, 2022Great for pet owners
Stayed here twice recently, once on the way north to Michigan and again on the way back home. Very clean, front desk staff was great when I locked myself out of my room. Very comfortable stay and the morning coffee was even decent. I love that la Quinta is pet friendly and yet somehow unlike other hotel chains, I never get smelly rooms or feel like I have subpar accommodations. This is definitely my go-to stay next time I’m passing through Birmingham.
- KimSep 3, 2022Great stop with my dog
Very clean, friendly, no carpet in our room
- JohnAug 27, 2022Not Good!
We have stayed in several Wyndham and La Quinta hotels. None as bad as this. Stained bedding, pealing paint, chipped tub, filthy door from the parking lot. We complained and were offered a 15% discount. No thanks.
- BrittanyAug 22, 2022Great Stay!
Easy access to pets areas and rooms. Clean & very welcoming!
- StanleyAug 10, 2022Nice Rooms
Modern, spacious rooms. Very clean facility. Plenty of outdoor areas for dogs. Would stay again. Excellent rates too.
- KristinaAug 7, 2022Worst booking ever
If I could give them a zero I would!!!! I had a flat tire. I contacted the hotel 2 times during the night and spoke to one of the rudest reservationists or front desk clerks I have ever dealt with in my life. I contacted first to let them know I was going to be a late arrival. Then once I had a flat tire I contacted him to let him know I wasn’t sure I would be able to make it at all. He said as long as I could make it by 5 am. I was outside of Memphis Tennessee. When it was 4:59 am and I was still on the side of the ride dealing with the flat tire situation, and was not going to be able to make it by 5am, Robert was so rude, I could hear a phone ringing in the background, he told me there was nothing he could do for me and he had to go to answer the other phone call. Talked to him for less than 1 minute. When I called the next day to speak to a manager and report this on BringFido, I have found out that Robert has marked me as a no show and they are saying they know nothing of my attempts to contact them and the flat tire!!! I will never deal with another La Quinta and especially this La Quinta!!!!
- RonaldJul 29, 2022Room condition
Air conditioner leaked water all over one side of the floor. Had to take towels to mop it up.
- Jul 24, 2022Nice area
Nice staff and you can see they are updating the facility. Need to move the trash away from the building due to smell.
- LynnJul 1, 2022Adequate, good staff
Clean. Old. Will work.
- NancyJun 30, 2022Great place
Nice updated rooms with vinyl flooring. Green spaces for walking and set in a lovely wooded area.
- LoriJun 10, 2022Great Location!
There were several pet families staying and we made new friends. Very nice and very clean! Will stay there again.
- SteveJun 6, 2022Great Experience
Clean hotel, extremely dog friendly. Made traveling with our dog a pleasure.
- CaralinJun 6, 2022Good
Easy check-in and out, very pet friendly, restaurants nearby, on/off I65 within minutes. Walls are thin, leave fan on at night so not to hear neighbors.
- SusanJun 5, 2022Just Fine!
Accommodated us and our dog just fine! The bed skirt was a little weird and off the bed, but otherwise everything was just fine!
- BernardJun 5, 2022Crummy place
Old, worn down, not nice at all.
- CharlieMay 29, 2022Pretty Good Experience
This hotel was a good experience for my dog and I. Like others have said, it’s a little older and could be a bit cleaner but you get what you pay for. There were quite a few other dogs and the check in process with my dog was very easy. You just have to sign a waiver in case your dog is disruptive or destroys furniture. The surrounding area is relatively safe and I would stay here again if needed.
- SimoneMay 15, 2022Lots of pups here
My pup and I booked from the parking lot as we were passing through this town and I have no complaints. We had a perfectly adequate room on the ground floor and there are a few areas outside to walk with them along with poop bags supplied, which made it all the more disappointing that visitors didn’t clean up after their fur babies. Dogs can’t come to breakfast but other than that the hotel was welcoming to us both.
- KelseyMay 15, 2022Affordable!
After an hour of searching for affordable, pet-friendly hotels, we stumbled across BringFido, which linked us with the La Quinta Inn and Suites. Prior to this find, we were mind blown with some of the pet fees at hotel chains we typically go to when we are pet free. One major chain wanted to charge a non-refundable fee of $250 for one evening. We are grateful to have found a place that provides affordable hotel rooms for families with pets, AND the night receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful!
- JeffMay 12, 2022Good location close to interstate
Fairly new. No issues.
- DorothyMay 11, 2022Nice clean hotel
Walls are a bit thin and sadly we were next to a stressed out yapping little dog who was left alone for a long time late at night. This is our go-to spot in BHM though with our 40 pound dog Millie. Convenient!
- JanetMay 10, 2022Nice hotel
Room was spacious and clean. It was a weekend and the hotel was pretty full, with lots of dogs and noisy kids on our floor. Not the hotel's fault though.
- JoeApr 23, 2022Great Stay!
I was in town for a last minute funeral and just needed a comfortable, clean, safe place that I could stay and that my dogs were welcome. They delivered!
- PattiApr 19, 2022Pleasant and easy
Nice rooms. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of green space for doggos. Good breakfast choices.
- PattiMar 26, 2022Perfect for 1 night stay with 2 dogs
Very clean. Close to highway. Hotel had all the basics needed when traveling with 2 dogs.
- JamesMar 18, 2022Meh
The place needs a full time maintenance crew. Sink fittings were very loose, paint everywhere is worn out, there was an open storm sewer by the parking lot with the broken cover next to it. Also had the sorriest breakfast choices I have seen. The price was reflective, however.
- LindseyFeb 28, 2022Mediocre
The pros:
- We could run the AC fan all night to drown out noise happening in other rooms and in the hallway
- Since the elevator nearest to us was out of order, most of the traffic was diverted to a separate area so we didn't have quite as much traffic by our roomThe cons:
- Our room was pretty dirty. There were several clumps of hair (human hair, not dog fur) on the floor, and the floor near the bed had some kind of dried spill next to it
- The volume on the TV was broken (remote would only go down to level 13 -- we couldn't get any quieter)
- The in-room phone didn't work and made for a frustrating situation when I needed to call the front desk - PatrickFeb 28, 2022It was good enough
The suite room was a good size without carpet, which is good for a dog. The room did not smell musty probably because there was no carpet and the sofa was vinyl covered. The lighting in the main room was one table lamp. The fridge was small and not on when we got there. The floor was uneven in spots. The bedroom was nice and quiet. The staff were not very friendly. Not a single smile from the weekend crew. We had no idea what the breakfast hours were. No sign posted, no information anywhere. No information in the room about anything. The TV remote was gross. You didn't want to touch it. But we slept well enough and the dog had space. Veterans Park, which you need to drive to, was a good place to walk a dog. There is nowhere to walk a dog near this hotel.
- KarlFeb 22, 2022Solid stay
Dog friendly area with nearby nature trail.
- MurphyFeb 15, 2022Nice hotel
Clean hotel. Room had a faulty tv remote and no wire on room phone, so it did not work.
- KristineFeb 7, 2022It’s ok
You get what you pay for. The staff was great and helpful but the place is super basic.
- RobinFeb 4, 2022Perfect for pets
This hotel was lovely. Everything was updated and new. Hotel was clean. Rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. Floor in room was not carpeted whichever was nice. The breakfast had more variety than I have seen at any hotel since covid started. Bed was comfortable. The area was in a business park which was a nice setting quiet and plenty of places to walk the dog. Service at front desk was friendly and courteous. I will stay there again when I drive to Florida. Really enjoyed my stay.
- JeremyFeb 4, 2022Spacious and clean
Got 2 beds. Nice size beds could fit 2 per bed. Open wide and tall ceilings. Nice for long stay if you can afford it.
- MichelleJan 29, 2022Great Room
Everything was great! Fast check in process. The room was great and pet friendly; no carpet and no fabric on furniture except bedding.
- MarilynJan 22, 2022Great hotel, nice location, so dog friendly
The hotel is so accommodating to travelers with dogs. Plus it is very clean. There is plenty of grass and green space for dogs, plus poopie bags are provided and bag containers are so appreciated for cleanup.
- KimJan 16, 2022Excellent stay
The location is great with a lot of restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and room was great for having a furry friend with you.
- HeatherDec 30, 2021Great location
Clean, doggy friendly, spacious room.
- ChrystalDec 27, 2021Great doggo-friendly hotel
The hotel could use a little more sprucing up, and the walls are pretty thin, but overall my dog and I had a nice overnight stay here. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The best part - price was reasonable with NO pet fee.
- GregoryDec 25, 2021Excellent
Hotel was great and personnel was friendly.
- KaoriDec 20, 2021Thin walls
Our partially renovated room was spacious but the walls were so thin that my dog kept going to the door and bark whenever he heard noise. I ended up sleeping with the leash so my dog wouldn’t go to the door.
- RichardDec 12, 2021Interesting place
Night clerk was extremely scared of my dog.
- KeelyDec 2, 2021La Quintas are The Best!
I’ve stayed at a lot of pet friendly hotels and this chain is my favorite. This one specifically had very nice, spacious rooms, no pet fee!, and overall very friendly to pets. Great breakfast too. I’d stay again in a heartbeat!
- GigiNov 23, 2021For A Quick Overnight it Was Alright
Pros: Both the night and morning staff were very friendly! Looks as though they are in process of making updates (a new couch was still covered in delivery paper) Nice sitting area by the pool with a gazebo, laminate flooring in the rooms rather than carpet. We felt safe taking our dogs out after dark. The room was clean & tidy. Cons: The beds (we had a room with 2 doubles) need the mattresses replaced- both had large indents/sways. Bathroom had strong old urine smell. Overall good stay for us and our 2 pups. Everyone, please clean up after your dogs!
- RhonellNov 23, 2021CLEAN!
I'm thrilled to find a chain that allows dogs and is CLEAN. Thank you!
- DuaneOct 30, 2021Great night staff
Simple but adequate.
- MatthewOct 30, 2021Great location
The hotel location was great, easy to get to places to eat. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing.
- HarleyOct 27, 2021Okay value, dated facility
The staff was friendly and helpful. Like many La Quinta properties the place is showing its age and there are cosmetic damages (chipped plaster, paint splintered wood, etc.) that need attention. However public areas were clean. The room was also clean. The beds were comfortable but some of the linens were showing their age. They need to sort out their bath linens. My bath towel had stains. I am sure it had been well washed but more attention to stain removal was needed OR this towel needed to be thrown out.
The TV remote keys were "soft" making it difficult to get channels changed. Also the covering of the AC unit collapsed and fell off and crashed to the floor (exposing the rusted and corroded interior and aging wiring) and the thermostat was not fully functional and the fan speed could not be adjusted and so loud it had to be shut off at the power plug to get some quiet.
Finally NONE of the security doors were locked meaning "anyone" could just walk in any of the side doors. Usually this happens when the door lock systems aren't working but the key mechanism was fully functional so it was a management choice to allow the side entrances to be unlocked. On the other hand this seemed a relatively safe neighborhood... as far as I could tell. Breakfast was standard La Quinta breakfast bar.
Overall I would say that it could have been worse and I appreciate having a place to stay with pets. I felt I got my money's worth because the room rate was reasonable but I would not go out of my way to say here again.
- JillOct 14, 2021Good choice!
Room was large, clean and perfect for overnight stay. Newly renovated. Would def stay there again.
- StanleySep 25, 2021Happy Scuby
Comfortable clean room, awesome staff.
- SandraSep 10, 2021Not Pet Friendly Receptionist
Nice standard hotel, even though getting renovated. Clean room, fresh bedding, however the slim, dark hair receptionist was very frosty and would not let us walk through reception to get to our room or back to reception. Told us we could only enter via a side door at the back of the hotel. Not very welcoming for two friendly, well behaved Corgis :(
- WendySep 10, 2021Great!
Pool was lovely. Room perfect for a big dog, no carpet. Only complaint is the bed was not so comfortable. Very clean, though. Good coffee. Breakfast bag was two muffins. A little disappointing also, but for the price and neighborhood this hotel cannot be beat!
- MarisaSep 4, 2021Reasonable Dog Friendly Hotel
The La Quinta in Hoover was a great, well-priced hotel. Rooms were large which was helpful with two 50+ lb dogs. It’s also within a few miles of a great state park (can bring dogs) and a dog-friendly craft beer bar/store. We were glad to have found it.
- ClarissaAug 3, 2021Dog was queen! Humans… less so
Great hotel for dogs. Man at the front desk who checked us in was clearly a dog lover and they even had bags to clean up after your pup available at the pet relief area. Hotel wise it was a lacking a bit between the renovations previous guests mentioned in their reviews and the fact that both the main elevator and hot water were broken while we were there. Wouldn’t stay there without our pup but definitely will with her!
- TeriJul 30, 2021Good location, being renovated
Very nice room & bathroom. Disability access through the back was a relief. The front entrance is under construction - outside painting, etc. But this stay was a 5!
- A PJul 30, 2021Friendly and helpful
Great stay. Had to take a break from driving and make a last minute reservation (only an hour out of town!) and have no complaints. Even with a lobby full of people (at almost midnight!) The young man at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming to each, professional and helpful. If we're in need of lodging in this area again w our old pup, we'll stay here again!
- MarioJul 17, 2021Great location!
Great location and very dog friendly! Staff was great.
- LindaJul 10, 2021Great hotel
They were very nice and accommodating. The room had tile floors and was close to an exit so it was very easy to take our dog for a walk. It was a very comfortable room.
- GitaJun 28, 2021Dog Friendly
They loved our dog as much as we did. Very friendly.
- TheresaJun 8, 2021Great location!
Close to the interstate and several great restaurants within close proximity that are dog friendly. Even though they are going thru a renovation, facility was clean and staff courteous. Will stay there again.
- JohnMay 22, 2021Very old and terrible customer service
The entire hotel felt old and weathered. Customer service was nonexistent. Disappointed that La Quinta doesn't allow their guests personal responsibility regarding COVID masking. Instead they dictate their own policy
- MargaretMay 20, 2021Clean, quiet, comfortable
One night stop on trip from Florida to Michigan. Beautiful quiet location, closet to I-65 but set off enough that there was no traffic noise. Pleasant, helpful receptionist. Room was comfortable and clean. Good price through BringFido.
- ColleenMay 1, 2021Definitely Dog Friendly
Great for dogs. The room had a mini renovation; however, the bathroom needed a total overhaul. Otherwise, we had a decent room.
- DavidMay 1, 2021Super Pet Friendly
The staff was super friendly and the hotel is very pet friendly. Our room was clean and we enjoyed our stay with our two girls (dogs). We would definitely stay here again.
- LucyApr 29, 2021Nice for Dogs and People!
Spacious room with all the amenities. Friendly staff. Plenty of outdoor space for dog walking.
- BrandonApr 8, 2021La Quinta Hoover subpar
There were cracks in the walls, room door had massive amount of light come through, exterior doors were supposed to be locked but weren’t, and there was no place to walk our dogs and let them do their business. Employees didn’t seem to care about customer service, and rooms weren’t clean (especially scary because of Covid).
- MarkApr 4, 2021Nice
Room was good. Vinyl floors and furniture, so a bit spartan, but adequate. Staff was very nice
- MargaretApr 1, 2021Okay
The TV did not work and the exterior door near my room was unlocked all night although it said key access only. I called the front desk about both issues but nothing was done. Didn’t feel safe.
- PaulaMar 28, 2021Great place for an overnight stay
Check in / check out was awesome. Pets very welcome. No additional pet fee. Big dogs are allowed. Nice areas around hotel to walk the dogs. 2 reasons why 4 bones vs 5 bones. The floors are not carpeted so if you have dogs that pace some during the night, anxious being away from home, you will here their toenails on the floor. The other reason is they did not have the free breakfast available - they said because of COVID. Rooms were good size and clean. We had a king bed, small refrigerator, microwave, desk area and 2 additional chairs besides the desk chair.
- ColbyMar 25, 2021Great Stay!
The stay was great. There was no pet fee and no restrictions. There was a small clearing/trail behind the. hotel that my German Shepherd loved to walk. Only down side was a closed pool and hot tub.
- JamesMar 23, 2021renewed
everything renewed but bed.
- MonicaMar 22, 2021Good accommodations for quick stay
Tile in room worked great for my dog. Would have liked some more options for dog relief areas outside.
- MichaelMar 21, 2021Disappointing
We stayed one night in March, 2021 en route to Florida. We booked a room for 5 plus our dog. When I booked the room through bringfido, we requested a roll away bed for the fifth guest. Upon check in, we were told that there were no roll away beds and that the room had two twin beds. The front desk clerk found a room with two full beds, but obviously this wouldn’t work for a party of five. We had to pay for a second room with no discount.
The rooms themselves were functional, but not very clean. We expected a higher level of cleanliness during a pandemic. The beds were very uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin. We could hear people talking outside our room.
Overall a very poor experience. We should have just stayed at a nicer hotel and paid a higher rate to accommodate our party of five. - JulieMar 20, 2021Newly remodeled
Loved the new flooring, no carpet in rooms!
- LindaMar 17, 2021Room was ok
But strange men were hanging out in the back of motel right by our window
- 3039413460Feb 28, 2021Good for dogs.
Nice grassy areas around the hotel.
- AnnaFeb 24, 2021Clean and accomodating
Easy check in and very clean room. No pet fee is an added plus
- MaryFeb 22, 2021Great location and service
We liked the staff, the location, and the room was very nice. It was very close to Oak Mountain State Park that we took our dog to walk before getting back on the road
- AshleyFeb 12, 2021decent location
decent location. pet friendly. I gave it 3 bones because there were little things that would have been better. the neighbors across the hall were up all night yelling.
- ReneeJan 27, 2021Very dog friendly
Stayed here with my Great Pyrenees. I called ahead to verify he was okay to bring as he is over 100 pounds. I was told I just had to sign the pet agreement upon check in and there would still be no fee for him.
The stay was fairly uneventful. The walls are very thin so my dog did bark a few times in the middle of the night due to people coming and going. Overall, I felt safe and welcome with my big boy. I’d definitely recommend as an affordable option with a relaxed pet policy if you have a bigger furry friend. - AbbyJan 26, 2021Clean Room, Tile Floors
Super straightforward, basic accommodations, tile floor for pet-friendly rooms. Room was clean and staff was kind!
- LauraDec 27, 2020Beautiful hotel in downtown Chattanooga
There is one floor reserved for pets. The best aspect is likely how well insulated the rooms are when it comes to sound. You cannot hear dogs barking in other rooms while in your room. Only in the hallway can you hear them. You have to take your dog out front onto the sidewalk area to use the bathroom, but there are a number of trees so our dogs had no issues. The staff is wonderful and accommodating and so many pet friendly places in the city to take your doggies.
- CarindaDec 6, 2020Noisy and Dirty
I called the front desk because the shower was dirty and had a pile of grey hair in it. I also complained about the noise. There were guests talking in the hallway and on their phone in the hallway. I checked out as soon as I could.
- GustafDec 3, 2020Claimed to have been refurbished
Large gaps in the doors big enough to see through, old tubs without safety strips and old ac units so loud as to keep you awake. The desk person did not care, claiming millions were spent. These are the same issues from a year ago. No way was this place refurbished.
- KimberlyDec 1, 2020Needs work
Was a disappointment. The only thing I can say is it they do allow animals. Both times I stayed here within a 10 day period of traveling. Both rooms were not cleaned--- there was pet hair and urine stains. In one room, leftover dog toys were in the corner showing they did not even pick up things. There were clean towels and the bed was made but that's it. Ok if you need to crash and are traveling but don't expect basic cleaning to have been done in the rooms.
- JennieNov 18, 2020Great location
It was a really nice place and easy check in and out. No pet fee and two dogs up to 70 lbs!!! It’s hard to find a place to stay with big dogs and this was a nice place in a nice area.
- MichaelNov 9, 2020Great room for dog
Large room without carpet so worked very well with our dog. Maids kept room exceptionally clean. Very happy with our stay and would stay here again.
- WilliamOct 20, 2020Great Hotel
The staff was exceptional, the room was large, clean, and well appointed. We’ll definitely stay here whenever we’re in Birmingham.
- JessicaOct 16, 2020Good Location
Pet friendly. Decent room. Was on the second floor but easy access to outside.
- AnneSep 24, 2020Great stop near Birmingham, AL
La Quinta Inns are so often our go to stop when traveling. They are dog friendly - with no pet fee! - and are clean and well-maintained. The La Quinta in Hoover is no exception. It is very conveniently located near the freeway and close to lots of restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
- GabrielaSep 11, 2020Relaxing, easy stay
The room was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Definitely would recommend!
- DianaSep 10, 2020No continental breakfast
Hotel was good. Clean. But no breakfast, which was disappointing.
- KimberlyAug 12, 2020Friendly staff
Very accommodating! Made sure we were on the first floor by an exit. Staff at check in was so friendly! Newer remodel!
- TheresaJul 22, 2020Decent place
Place could use some updates, but it was decent enough.
- DawnJun 2, 2020Nice hotel
Room was great. It was an older hotel, recently remodeled., clean. Room was on the 1st floor, at the end by the door to go out. Perfect for us. NO breakfast served but I believe that's because if the COVID restrictions.
I'll stay here next time we do a transport to Birmingham
- BrianApr 15, 2020Large room/no pet fee.
Very affordable. Nice large, clean rooms(more renovation going on now). No pet fee. Offers pet sitting services if needed(at least according to website). Quick access to interstate and near mall and plenty of restaurants and such(of course with COVID situation, wasn’t able to explore!). Pillows were disappointing would be main comment.
- BrookeMar 13, 2020It was nice
It was a very nice hotel however there were no trash cans in the room and breakfast was very limiting and not the best quality
- JosephFeb 26, 2020Review
The room was clean and quite and was probably really nice when it was newer. The ground floor is currently undergoing renovation and the 3rd floor where we stayed needs it too. The halls and doors were scratched and marked and the bathroom, although clean, was not in great shape. The bathroom door came off the hinges and the shower curtain rod was loosely hanging on the wall. I am sure it will be a great place when the renovations are complete.
- ErinFeb 12, 2020Nice place
The new owners are doing some great improvements. Nice place to stay with furbabies.
- GenaJan 23, 2020Beautiful spacious property
- RobertJan 22, 2020Nice Place
Very nice facility and friendly employees.
- ShanaDec 8, 2019Great Location
Spent the night here on our way to Georgia. Reserved the room through BringFido the day of the reservation. Hotel was clean, friendly and even though they did not have a first floor room, they placed us close to an entrance/exit for easy access to take the dog out. Microwave and refrigerator in the room. Wasn't overly impressed with breakfast - but typical of most hotels, several choices close by.
- CharlotteNov 28, 2019roomy and comfortable
Aged, but comfortably updated. The rooms were large and check in with the dogs was a breeze.
- WilliamNov 5, 2019Let me count the ways I love thee NOT!
Nice grounds, nice lobby, nice hallways.
The door to my room had its paint scrapped off, at lock level, fully across the door. My room's door lock had a deadbolt that could not be thrown shut. The knob that engages the deadbolt from the inside turned endlessly without engaging anything.
Nice security signs about locked doors to the outside, except that the door closest to my room had its lock permanently jammed open. That lock reader couldn't read my card key.
Nice room layout, certainly different, but no fridge or microwave in the room although I chose a room with both when I booked.
The handles to the front door, inside and outside, as well as the handles for the closet door were off the correct horizontal as if a strong, angry hand bent them out of position.
The bathroom smelled like fabric that has been wet for too long without enough ventilation. Think of a dishrag that was not rinsed clean and left to dry in a wet lump. Add the aroma of human urine to that.
The night table light was not plugged in. Plugging it in required moving the night table.
The night table was smeared with something brown under the telephone. The desk's surface was also dirty. All were water-soluble which means that housekeeping isn't doing its job well despite the nice signed cards that say that the room was specially prepared for me by Vinod.
The mattresses were deformed by the weight of the whales who have slept on them.
The bedspring frames creaked loudly upon sitting on the bed to lie down.
The carpet was frayed where you enter the bathroom.
The furniture is chipped, gouged, or its lacquer worn off exposing bare wood.
- Lara leeSep 30, 2019Great location. Close to Oak Mountain Amphitheatre
Room was great. Comfortable and clean. Fastest I e ever been checked into a hotel. Within 10 minutes of our concert venue. Dog friendly which was our reason for choosing hotel.
- KendalSep 25, 2019Horrible!!! DO NOT BOOK
Room smelled like dog poop. Rooms not clean and paper thin walls. Could literally hear entire conversations so imagine the dogs all barking. Hallways were filthy. Several coats of mismatched paint on the doors. It literally looked like a crack house on the pet end of the hotel. The guy at the front desk was very nice. Seemed over worked. Some strange noise out back in the bushes. Never found the pet trash can or bags.
- RobinSep 4, 2019Beautiful on the outside, but...
Very friendly and helpful staff, but the hotel was filthy! There was something gross stuck to the side of the bed. There were stains and hair on the comforter. The hallways were filthy with stains. The breakfast was basically stale bagels and muffins. I can not recommend this hotel.
- KathySep 1, 2019Needs a maintenance man
Our room was clean but needed a maintenance man. The door handle was broken, it was a trick to get into the room, the toilet seat was sliding all over and the handle on the faucet was broken. The help at the hotel was very nice. Seemed like a nice area.
- BryceJun 27, 2019Get The Policy Straight!
The rooms overall are nice but upon checking in I requested a room on the first floor because we have two dogs. I was told they don’t allow pets to stay on the first floor! We are staying at 6 la quintas in all as we are transferring with the military and this is the only one that has this “policy”. It may not sound like much but taking two dogs up and down elevators or in our case stairs because the cleaning staff insisted on using the elevators vice letting the guest use the elevator is absurd.
- LisaOct 25, 2018Excellent hotel
I ended up reserving this room last minute with the help of the bringfido.com rep over the phone. My room at this hotel was clean spacious, lots of grass around the property and places for my dog to walk. Coffee was good, breakfast was good. We all had a good night sleep.
- A. DeWeeseMore than a year agoDirty Sheets!
Traveling to Fort Worth and back to Atlanta we have stayed in two LaQuinta Hotels because we have a small dog. We stayed in a king suite which was a nice set up with two rooms. A few minutes after arriving in the room I noticed the very neatly made bed had stains on the bed cover. Pulling back the bed sheets I found obvious yellow stains on the bed sheets and I noticed one of the pillows was dirty. I called the front desk and the gentleman on duty apologized and said there was no housekeeping available at that hour but he would bring me some new bed linens. He said he couldn’t put them on the bed because he was busy. My husband and I changed the sheets and discovered the sheets were very dirty where the feet go. This bed had not been changed after the last guest stayed in the room! If I wanted to worry about clean sheets I would have stayed in a sixty dollar motel. We paid $119.00 for the night. While LaQuinta is not a luxury hotel I do expect better of them. The hotel itself is older but has been somewhat renovated. The furniture is worn and the sofa in our room also needed cleaning. I can handle worn but I expect cleanliness. Will not be staying at this location again.
