Terrible smell, like sour food upon entry. Inability to rest due to feeling like bugs crawling on me all night. Linens well worn and very uncomfortable bed.

Let me start with the positive. Our room was clean spacious, and comfortable. The front desk staff were kind. The price was reasonable. However, this place needs work, a lot of work. First of all, we arrived just a little after check-in time, and we were told it would be a few minutes before the room was ready. Ultimately the wait was nearly two hours while we sat in our car with our little dog (it was too hot to sit outside next to the pool as suggested). At one point about an hour and a half into the wait, we were given a key to a room.
It wasn’t clean; sheets and trash were everywhere when we walked in. The front desk clerk was so kind and apologetic when I returned the key. We waited again (and actually checked out other nearby hotels), and, just before I told the clerk we wouldn’t be handed a key, we got a ground floor room. We drove around the building to get in, and the initial impressions were not good. There was trash and dirt all over the sidewalk/entryway (including someone’s false eyelashes). It obviously hadn’t been swept in a long, long time.
First impressions do count, and our tired hearts sank. As we entered, we notice the door to our room was flimsy, the lock didn’t seem totally secure, and daylight was visible all around it. We were exhausted from travel. and decided to risk it. The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we got a good night’s sleep. We left early the next morning.
It’s clear that staff communication and cleaning needs improvement at this location. Also, this place might need to consider that if they are short staffed (and I totally understand that many places are these days), they might want to move their posted check-in time back a few hours. That would be a better choice than having exhausted travelers waiting for hours.

Was escaping a hurricane with my 75lb Pitbull and 25lb Cavapoo. Place was great , like home. Plenty of places to walk them. Staff was super friendly. I will definitely go again.

Staff was friendly and changed our assigned 2nd floor room to a first floor room so taking the dog out would be easier. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. There was a nice pool area, basketball court and common patio area with a grill that we didn’t get a chance to use, but looked well maintained. Only 2 minor complaints: some trash and dog poop around the property which was annoying - we were given a roll of bags when we checked in, so there really isn’t any reason that people didn’t clean up after their dogs. The Grab and Go Breakfast left a little to be desired. It was 2 mini sausage biscuits, 2 hard boiled eggs, a small cup of yogurt and small apple with a shot of orange juice. It was fine, but some items were difficult to eat while driving. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we will likely stay at a Sonesta again.

Okay, you can tell the quality of a place by how they handle problems. We arrived pretty late evening. Got the last room on the property. Had a newer employee handling our booking. Keys didn’t work. Maintenance shows up in less than 30 minutes fixed door. Complimentary snacks for the whole family. Discount on room and waived pet fee. We didn’t have to ask.
