        Great Room!

After making a reservation, I was offered a complimentary upgrade, to Room 35! There is a Bar sink and refrigerator and microwave in a separate room. It’s a
large square footage room with windows on three sides and a fireplace. Also, Extremely clean! There’s a Table by the door and another small table between two chairs on the opposite wall. A Small TV and a large fan in the closet. There’s a Gate next to the room that opens onto the street and a Large parking lot. Also, a Barnyard door for receiving the breakfast service tray! Lots of fruit on that tray each morning! The room is located at the end on the Bottom floor. Across the street is Casanova (a very old and romantic restaurant). There’s a deli a half block down and the Hogs Breath is 1/2 block down the street. Also, a really nice and welcoming Italian restaurant called Giovanni‘s one block down. I found it very Pet friendly! Staff was very welcoming.

        not dog friendly

The staff made us feel terrible having brought our dogs. Even to the point of running outside of their office to "put us in our place " while we loaded our crated dogs into our vehicle. We cannot recommend this place at all. We were on vacation and did not want to kennel our dogs...out of 7 hotels this one was the only bad experience. Dog or no dog...we will not return.

        Great Weeknend

Had a great 2 night stay over the weekend. We had a premium King room with a fireplace. The room was very clean and the king bed was very comfortable. The kitchenette with wet bar and fridge came in handy. Our two Basenji's loved it. The staff was very friendly and the location to downtown was perfect. This was our first time taking our dogs to a hotel and it was a great experience. Would stay here again if we have our dogs with us.

        Not Bad

We stayed there for a weekend in August. We reserved a standard king room which was a little small. Other than letting our dog stay there and dog biscuits at the front desk, there were no special accommodations made for our dog. The room needed updating including the carpet, bathroom was super tiny, old fixtures, but the bed was cozy and it's so very close to downtown which was really great. You can park in the hotel lot and walk everywhere. Wouldn't mind staying there again.

        Our Dogs LOVED IT

They may be tearing it down soon, but for right now they treated us wonderfully. Our dogs were welcome and treated with love and respect. They have cookies on the counter for dogs and for people. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff were polite, accomodating when we wanted to upgrade to a better room, and the whole experience was happy from the moment we arrived. I would stay there again and recommend it to everyone.

        Great place to stay

Could not have asked for a nicer place. Had the lager kitchenett which was perfect. Very quiet, spacious and comfortable. A big master bedroom and a great comfortable bed. The dutch door, all of the windows and the cool breezes made it feel like a home away from home. Our Lhasa (Chloe) settled in like it was her new castle. A definate vacation spot for next year...

        Carmel Lodge

It was very nice; only issue was that front desk was not aware that we had dogs. They took care of it fine & the stay was great but there seemed to have been a communication breakdown somewhere.

Thanks for your website...great value for traveling dog owners.

        Great Place

My wife and I and Murphy (our Coton) stayed for several days and the place was great. We got a large room ( much bigger than comparable hotels that we have stayed in while visiting Carmel). The staff was nice and the place clean and quiet. It is very close to downtown Ocean Avenue. The continental breakfast was ok, but minimal. They offered a dog bed and had water bowls and pet snacks in the lobby. We had no problems and really liked the place. We will definitely go there again the next time we visit Carmel.

        Carmel Lodge

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay immensley. The front desk was very accommadating to our needs. We had to change our room a few times due to the size, we wanted a larger room with a tub and the hotel accommadated us without any fuss. Our dachound, Shema, was very comfortable in our cozy room. By the way, we love the location of the hotel, everything is in walking distance to Carmel Village, which made our stay even more pleasant.
Thank you for making our stay comfortable and without any frustrations.

        Lovely place to stay

We just came back from a wonderful weekend at the Carmel Lodge and can highly recommend it. We stayed 2 nights with our 8-1/2 month old puppy, a Boston Terrier. The room was nice and clean, although not very modern. The folks at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful. They had placed a dog bed, a double feeder bowl and some doggie cookies in our room before we got there, which I thought was a very nice touch.

Two small drawbacks: there was no refrigerator in our room, which we needed since we feed our dog raw and his food must be refrigerated. The front desk, however, had a refrigerator and they were more than happy to store our food during our stay. Since the desk is open 24 hours/day, it was no problem to get the food and bring it back for each meal.

The 2nd small drawback is that the rooms don't come with a hair dryer. Luckily, you can get one from the desk very easily.

For those of you who watch TV, there's a full set of cable channels, which we appreciated. Unlike major hotel chains which usually have a very limited number of channels, the Carmel Lodge had all the basic cable channels.

We will definitely stay here again. I think it's the warm cookies at reception that clinched it! LOL!

Oh, there's limited parking at the Lodge, too, which is nice since Carmel can get quite full up on the streets.

        Carmel Lodge

Room was spotless, very comfortable. My chichuahua was warmly welcomed; they had even put a dog bed in my room in preparation for our arrival, though it was way too big for Molly! Once in awhile I heard a dog bark a couple of times, but otherwise it was a very quiet place. Fresh baked cookies every afternoon and coffee and fruit in the morning was a nice touch. I would definitely go back.
