        Great place to stay

I stayed in a cottage with my dog. Upon arrival I was given a map of places/things to do. The map included all the dog friendly restaurants in Carmel. The staff was super friendly. They offered an extra sheet for my dog and the cottage had towels for her as well. There is a nice green area for the dogs to run around (on leash). There is also 2 dog washing stations. Some of the cottages had private patios, but mine didn’t. I know #21 has a fenced patio. It is a cottage, so it’s not huge. It was perfect for what I needed. The cottages aren’t brand new, but they’re clean. I can’t wait to stay here again. It was a very relaxing fun experience.

Our cottage had a toaster, coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, cook top, cookware, and service ware in the kitchenette. The bed was comfy. The water pressure in the shower is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. Succulents, bushes, flowers, ferns, evergreen trees, horsetail, and more. The hummingbirds are happy here and not a bird feeder in sight. The coffee in the lobby is local and tasty. A short path to Carmel River. Paths all over the grounds for leisure strolls with a 13-year old dog who takes it slow. This is almost like camping without the sleeping bags and cook fires. Our new favorite spot. 9 minute drive to the beach. 4 minute drive to Safeway, CVS, Pet Food Express, and some great dining and eateries (dog friendly) in Crossroads Shopping Center. The staff here (all hours of the day and night) are truly service oriented.

        Best stay ever!

We had such an amazing time in the cottages. There was a patio for the dogs to get some outdoor time without worrying about them running off. A huge jetted tub for relaxing, the bed was big enough for us and our 2 big dogs and very comfortable! A great spot with a water fountain and chairs to hang out. We barley wanted to even leave to sight see! Will definitely be staying here any chance we get with our fur babies!!

        Hidden Gem!

We stayed in one of the cottages. It's like summer camp. Brody loved the grounds, especially the meadow. The location is convenient to everything, and the staff is very accommodating. We'll be back.

        Rustic and charming

We stayed in a suite with a kitchenette and had a good time. The suite was rustic and well maintained. It is a relaxing environment and my dogs enjoyed exploring the grounds, full of flowers, plants, paths and lots to discover. They provide poo bags and a dog wash station. They have dog towels in the room for you to use. The proprietor is very friendly. Would stay there again.

        private cottages, lovely grounds

Lola and I stayed here for one night - booked it last minute - pleasantly surprised with cottage #21 studio with kitchenette. Might be cramped with hubby too, but perfect for me and the dog. Lots of quail (keep your dog on leash!), crickets and frogs. And great organic coffee from Carmel Valley Roasting co that was plenty strong. The privacy and quiet make up for the small cottages I think. We will be back with hubby next time! Hoyle rooms seem too close to hwy for my liking so will stick to cottages.

        We will be returning

Stayed July 28-31, 2015 - This is a definite 5 bones. We all loved it - Cecil especially loved the acreage to walk and sniff, the grass to play in, even off leash in front of our cottage. We stayed in cottage 28 and it fit us great - the bathroom was a bit small, but for the short time it was fine. We loved that they care about the dogs - sheets for the dogs, dog bones, dog bowls, even a place for a dog bath-with soap and after getting to the cottage, a call from the front desk to ask if everything was OK. We had a kitchen w/full frig, 2 burner cooktop, microwave, one cup coffee maker, settings for 2, frying pan (which we used one night for dinner), 2 pots for larger amounts. WIFI worked fine. The staff is great. Carmel River Inn is a definite 5 for dogs and their parents. A MUST stay when traveling with FIDO.

        Great Quiet Place

Stayed June 28-30, 2015. After a "snag" at the front office, BringFido was AWESOME for helping get that "snag" resolved. 5 Bones to BringFido.

The cottages were nice, clean, Quiet, Beautiful Gardens & paths. Great for the dogs !! Friendly staff. The cottages are older, but Very well kept up and Clean. Nice Country setting, 3-10 mins from Stores, Food, Mission, & the Dog Beach.

        We Will be Back !!

        Our favorite

our favorite place to stay when we're in Carmel! They have an awesome team who are very helpful and kind. They made sure our stay with my dog Rook who was battling cancer was as comfortable as possible. Thank you for the great memories.

        Perfect for larger dogs

Stayed there JAN 2015 - Located right on the river with ample room to let your dog get some exercise or go for a brisk swim. They provided a dog dish, a small pkg of treats and even a dog sheet for the bed. In addition a separate dog towel was made available, if we needed it to dry her off. Rooms also had a walkout patio that leads directly to large grass areas to play.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this motel was for $63 night ( what a bargin!) we walked to the beach and to town and hiked through the park on the way. The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean(#43) I'd love to come back and stay in one of the cabins next time.

        Allows dogs, NOT dog friendly

Charging $20 per dog, per night is not my definition of "friendly." Friendly should mean that you welcome dogs not punish you for bringing more than 1 dog or staying additional nights.

        Loved it!

Our stay was wonderful and our dog loved it! We were greeted with a friendly welcome and our dog was given treats. There's a place to give your dog a bath too! The 10 acre lot was perfect for giving our dog a quick walk in the morning and we enjoyed spending our morning in a scenic garden.

        Perfect for the dogs!

The cottages are perfect for dog vacations! When we checked in there was a water bowl, two dog bones and some poop bags ready to go. After a long day at the beach in Carmel there is a great place to wash the dogs. The grounds are beautiful and the cottages have the feel of being at summer camp; not large or fancy but perfect in their comfort and simplicity. Just fantastic!!

This hotel was just okay. I was under the impression that I was going to be in a cottage because of the description, but instead I was in a ground floor room next to the office. The hotel was old and there are no dog ammentites. There was a plant hanging from my patio that was overgrown and covered in cobwebs. I am only 5 feet tall and I had to duck to avoid hitting into this plant. On the plus side It was nice to be on the ground floor and be able to just walk out the patio door to walk along the river.

The Carmel River Inn was the perfect place for a tranquil gettaway. Our cabin was in the middle of a lush garden setting. We enjoyed walking the dogs on the 10 acres. They were happy and comfortable in the room. It was close to the Barnyard shopping center, which had many dog friendly restaurants. It was also close to Ocean avenue.

        Great for the Dogs!

We stayed in an upstairs room in the hotel portion. The room was large and clean, and my dogs were completely at home. The sound of the river rushing by as we sat on the patio was very nice. Would stay again.

        Kind of old...

The hotel was pretty old looking both inside and out. We stayed in a second story room and the patios are all connected so we weren't able to let our dog out there without first propping up the patio chairs to keep him from running to the next patio. There was a nice big grass area for them to go to the bathroom and play. There was no breakfast or microwave, but there was a fridge and a pretty comfy bed.

Dog didn't want to come home

We had one of the refurbished cottages. Beds were good and the fenced patio was great for my dog. The grounds are beautiful and the staff friendly. I will stay here again next year.

Good for the dog...not great for the people

We rented a two bedroom cottage in the summer. It was very pricey for what you get. It was extremely small for the 2 children, my dog, and my husband. The master bedroom was so small we could hardly turn around in it.
On the plus side it has nice grounds with lots of room to run (which our dog definately appreciated).
