  Dog Friendly?? People Friendly?! Hmmm...

  The Red Lion, Eureka, from a pet-friendly context, offers little to rave about. Yes, they excepted our two large dogs (@ an extra $20/night which is typical and understandable). The accommodations were decent with easy to clean laminate floors. Unfortunately, this is where the positivity ends...little room for MANY dogs to go to the bathroom, no floor level rooms for easy in and out with pets, longer stays offered no daily or even bi-daily clean ups (floor swept, trash removal, amenity refills, etc.). You are near beaches and sand... with dogs, (I cleaned the floor with damp hand towel and was reprimanded for it by a staff mbr.). All in all, I probably wouldn’t recommend this hotel for it’s “pet-friendliness”.

  Good for small dogs

  Staff are friendly. Not the best for large dogs, limited grass. Eureka has two good dog parks, the one to the West is best.

  Horrible Rundown Hotel. Do not visit! Seriously Beware.

  We stayed with our 2 dogs last night. Our room was dirty & dusty with dead bugs in the corners of the room. The ceil had large black stains from a previous incident they was not clean properly or painted over. The service was atrocious and we slept on top of the bedding. The ice machine by our room didn’t work & we got dust/dirt. We have been staying up & down the California coast this week with all dog friendly room. Please save your $ & go elsewhere.

  Perfectly fine

  Hotels in Eureka can be dodgey due to street people. Red lion had nice locked doors and a big parking lot with grass to walk in. Dog fee is reasonable and everyone is very nice to your dog. It’s the best place there.

  Stayed Aug 2018. Rooms are inside so need to go through lobby to take dog outside. Food at the pub was excellent.

  Overall good experience

  Had a pleasant stay at this hotel with our doggie. The rooms were decent and the dog-friendly rooms seem to be on the first floor, so we were able to park right in front of our room. The staff was also very helpful with watching our small dog while we ate breakfast in the dining room. Finding a place to eat dinner with the dog was much more of a challenge as there didn't seem to be any places with dog-friendly patios nearby. We got take out instead and brought it back to our room.
