Great resort to take your dog. It was so nice and relaxing to have a place right on the beach. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed himself. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

Our room was a nice size with a beautiful ocean view. Between the fireplace and ocean view there was nothing to not enjoy. We gave it an overall rating of 4 only because the complex is dated (with upgrades underway) and no close parking.

The few staff members that we engaged with during our visit were very friendly with my husband and I and our pup, Frida. One employee getting around in a golf cart stopped just to tell me how cute he thought she was and wished us a great day. So that along with the cleanliness of the room was wonderful. They did, as I have read in other reviews, have a bowl of water and a bowl of dog treats just outside the door of the lobby. There was also a sign welcoming furry friends where pups' names where written in, but they never added Frida's name. Not the end of the world, but it was a small bummer.
The thing I did not like was that most of the property is part of World Mark, which is a time share. It was the only part of the property with grass, but there were also signs in the grass saying that pets were not allowed on the World Mark property. I don't know about other people's dogs, but Frida is quite accustomed to doing her business on grass, and so it was hard trying to pull her away from there to go to the sand, especially since the grass was closer to our room than the sandy areas. The up side was that there were trash cans available to throw her waste in, but she really was not liking the 'no grass' rule. There really wasn't a good area for her to go to the bathroom, which plain sucked. For the humans, I would say it was a little bit of a weird experience because they are very hands off. We ordered room service the first morning, and they forgot a few of the items we asked for. For example, we got the cream cheese but no bagels. When we picked up the phone in the room and hit the room service button, the line was busy. It happened each time we tried, so my husband tried the other direct lines to see if he could reach someone. Those lines were all busy as well. He ended up dialing the hotel's number through the phone to reach someone. It was just bizarre.
There just wasn't much information overall, and we were left on our own. I suppose some people would prefer that, but it felt disconnected to us. There was no parking close to the room, and we had to be driven there in a golf cart. The time share people get to park near their rooms And the "fully stocked mini bar" included two bottles of wine in the fridge, a few coffee and tea K-cups for the Keurig, as well as some creamer. We weren't planning to survive on the goodies in the mini bar, but the words "fully stocked" were deceiving. It was nice being close to the beach, but we realized that driving to Monterey was more of a hassle than we had anticipated. Next time, we will stay in a hotel closer to Cannery Row.

We came with our lab and we definitely loved it!! The rooms are very neat and well maintained. The beach access is so convenient for morning and evening walks which our dog couldn’t enjoy more 🐾 The hotel restaurant allows dogs on the patio and the food is superb.

A great time was had by all! we loved our suite, with our private balcony that overlooked the ocean. The beach was easy accessible and so close. Lots of space for our dogs to roam around and the staff was so friendly. We will definitely be back and for much longer .

Beautiful, relaxing and very dog friendly. We stayed in an ocean view suite and it was perfect getaway. Convenient for walks on the beach and enjoyed the bonfire at night .

This place does have a fantastic location and generally it’s a nice place. It’s fantastic for dogs- very dog friendly and if that’s where I could stop I might. Unfortunately and partly due to Covid (I’ll be fair) The Sanctuary is overpriced and underwhelming for us Hoomans. I could go into further detail but, I’ll leave it at: if you travel with your dog- you know all the price points. Everything from late night reservation on a road trip motel to taking Rex to the Waldorf. Even if you don’t always stay with them 🐾chances are you’re always doing the research as to how much it would cost to bring them. Kindly- The Sanctuary isn’t in the right “price point” regardless of their location.

Absolutely loved our stay here!!! I was traveling with my two border collies, and I honestly could not be more impressed. Beautifully landscaped & well-tended property. Staff showered my pups with love - made us feel like royalty, even had precious treats & water bowls in the lobby. Miles & miles of beach to walk every day, bonfires to sit around at night, and that wonderful ocean roar - spectacular! I’m very protective of my dogs’ health & safety, and was so grateful that our oceanfront cottage was ultra-clean, quiet, and super safe. Even had a fireplace & patio! Loved it so much, we stayed an extra night. We’re going to be regulars at Sanctuary - we’ve finally found our new home away from home.🐾❤️🐾

Great service, fabulous rooms, and wonderful pet friendly beach access. The pet policy was top notch. We were able to take our pups into the covered, heated patio for dinner and they enjoyed long walks on the beach as well. Fabulous place. We will definitely be back!
