Both dogs and cats are permitted, but pets may not be left in the room unattended. Dogs beds, food & water bowls, and treats are available at the front desk.     Second home for the dogs

    The hotel treated us just like a guest without a canine. Pups got gift bandanas, and a door tag to warn others that pups were inside the room. There is a small pet-designated area, but to be honest, Monterey has so many places to walk your dog it didn't bother us. They provided a pamphlet with restaurants and activities that welcome dogs. Was so stress-free!

    Ok hotel

    For the price of the room, $400 with all the fees & taxes, the hotel is not worth it. It was just an average hotel. They did put us in courtyard room, which was convenient for having a small dog. The bed was not very comfortable and room decor was worn. Hotel and Monterey area is very pet friendly.

    Sweet quick getaway

    We wanted a quick getaway to take our pups to the beach and we chose the perfect hotel. Very dog friendly. Provides dog beds and dog bowls and give you a pamphlet of all the dog-friendly places.

    Will be back!

    The location is super. The hotel treats furry guests like royalty. I will return often when I come to Monterey and Carmel.

    Well Located

    A great location, close to plenty of dog-friendly restaurants and walking paths. Easy drive to Carmel Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Our room was on the 3rd floor at the back of the building. We were able to use the steps that led out to the plaza and walking path. The staff were all kind and welcoming. We had a great evening at Peter B’s. We plan to return.

    Great Stay at a Great Hotel

    This hotel is completely dog friendly. They treated us and our dog with respect and genuinely enjoyed having our dog around. They made whatever we wanted to feed him which was plain steamed veggies and plain hamburger patty or chicken breast. We've stayed at the Portola a couple of times now and plan to go again.

    Just OK

    Nothing stood out about this hotel to justify the price when I could be down the street for easily half what I paid. On check in I asked for doggy bowls and bedding. Was told concierge would bring it by. They never did for the two nights I stayed. Also thin walls, heard the neighbors fighting and security perform a wellness check.

    Noisy With No Air Conditioning

    I will never stay there again. The rooms are super noisy. You can hear every pin drop. They have no AC and they are HOT.
