  Dingy Motor Lodge

  The two mid-century modern chairs and tiki shower curtain did not distract from the fact that this was really just an old dingy motor lodge with original well-worn beds and carpets. The shower leaked all night and the walls are paper thin. The only redeeming bit was the on-site restaurant where we had quite a nice meal and a large margarita. Nothing special as far as dogs go, except a small patch of grass.

  We loved the pool/restaurant vibe, however the pet area has yet to be desired. There was no green area for them to go on property.

  Not too bad

  The luau atmosphere is hilarious and the pool is open until midnight. Fun! Great open space for dogs on the property and not too far from downtown Palm Springs. Would stay here again.

  Neat Place

  We arrived late in the evening for just the night so didn't experience the pool or restaurant but check-in was easy and friendly and our room, while small, was clean and the bed was comfortable. This motel is older and could use some refurbishment but the throwback 50s-60s vibe was fun! The dog potty/garden area was very nice. The neighborhood felt safe enough and there were a lot of people out walking their dogs in the morning. The location was very convenient to the airport. We'd stay again.

  Somewhat of a throwback

  Everything was clean, and nothing was missing. However, very noisy place. It reminded me of the motels of the sixties, and was probably at least that old, although the name has surely changed. You park your car right outside of your door. And as for the name... Resort? t's just a motel.

  Great location

  I have stayed here a couple of times and it was good but this time was not so great. Our room was extremely rundown the furniture was falling apart. The water was cloudy, the shower was not beat up and the toilet didn’t stop running.

  Great pup accommodations

  Room was nice and big for 2 dogs and 2 adults. Pups LOVED the grass play area. Staff friendly and accommodating!! Would definitely stay here again. Also, good location; walking distance to coffee shop and restaurants.

  Horrible place

  I stayed here with my 6 lb pup 1 time. I had my 2 daughters also. We were by the pool, and some awful woman went and told the office I let my dog IN the pool, which was not true. Well they believed her over 3 other people (us) and actually called the police on us? Needless to say we will NEVER stay at this hell hole again!

  Great place to stay with my fur babies!

  Driving cross country with my 105lb Golden retriever/Shepherd mix and 65lb pitbull terrier. The hotel was very nice and accommodating. Nice area to walk dogs!!

  Had fun at the pool from 8-midnight. Ample shade and a great grassy area for dogs next to the pool.

  Dog Friendly

  Caliente Tropics has rooms available for people with dogs. As another reviewer mentioned, these rooms are not as nice as others, but that is to be expected. There is a grassy area for walking and potty, and an outdoor area at the restaurant where your dog can sit with you while you eat. I believe they can also sit on the deck of the pool. It was too hot when we stayed there to do either, but I’m sure it would be great fall to spring. Please note that the grassy area is inside the fence where the pool is, so it is locked during certain hours. For example, it was closed until 8:00 am and my pup needed to go before then.

  No hot water in shower...it was lukewarm. Drainage issues with the shower.

  Nice Grassy Dog Area

  Sadly, due to the serious homeless problem in Palm Springs, the grassy area for dogs is closed and locked at night and not open until 8:00am. There is grass just around the corner. The rooms are nice enough for us and our dogs. We stop to and from the Cali coast on our trip from Tucson.

  Dog-friendly property

  Our dog loved the low window and kept helping herself to look outside the room behind the curtain. Nice place to get away for a few days. The adjacent Motel 6 has a large grass area where we played fetch.

  Old but clean

  staff was friendly. the facility was older, which for me is not an issue. when I entered the room, I saw painted concrete floors.
  the floors were not maintained as there were areas of patches where you could see bare concrete. there were no drawers, but cubbyholes to put your clothing in. these were poorly maintained and badly needed touchup. though this place is older, there is much potential here. the outer areas seem to be adequately maintained but they still could be improved upon. in my opinion, poor management is at fault. this place would be great it it were properly maintained. the cost of maintaining this place could probably result in higher room rates and better profits. put some linoleum on these floors, please!

  Bang for your buck

  This hotel is pretty good for the price. There were no issues with bringing our two dogs there. They have a really nice pool set up and a pretty popular bar/restaurant. The property is clean. The rooms are ok, not a fan of carpet but they were clean and orderly. There is a perfect grassy area to take your pets out to relieve themselves. All in all I was very impressed with the hotel. Good customer service too. Only draw back is that it’s located far down past the main area of Palm Canyon Drive so you could walk but with the heat it’s probably best to drive to the main part of the strip.

  Nice stay

  The husband and I needed to get away for a couple of days to decompress and relax and wanted to take our fur baby with us. We like the fact that Palm Springs is so dog-friendly and Caliente Tropics was a nice little place to stay at. The one real bummer was that the hot tub was not functioning when we were there but other than that it a nice stay.

  Great budget friendly option

  Older property, but outdoor spaces and landscaping are well maintained. Room was old, minimal, but all we needed. Relatively clean. Loved the Polynesian theme! Bordered on tacky, but I loved it. Pups apparently are allowed on the pool deck. Staff was great. Only bummer, pool wasn’t heated and it was too cold to swim. I’d go back though.

  Always a wonderful time here!! The perfect balance of mid-century Polynesian with modern upgrades. Clean and hospitable. Dog friendly staff, and I love the grassy courtyard that your pup and you can hang in the sun!

  Room was comfortable and cool. The pool was so much fun. Great grassy area for doggie relief. We’ll definitely be back.

  We checked in and got a great recommendation for dinner at the Reef. Our room was close to the pool and dog walking lawn. We will definitely stay here again.

  The service was great, out dog was welcomed in the park area and in the patio area at one of its restaurants. We were comfortable.

  Just okay - They DO love dogs

  Yes, they LOVE dogs. That's the big thing. The food in the restaurant (Reef) was incredible. The rooms, however, were tiny and dark. For "updated" it needs updating a lot more. Wish I could submit a picture of the recently painted bathroom door. Essentially they painted the door, then closed it. Without paint drying. They have a very nice dog area near the pool. Unfortunately, the pool is closed from midnight to 8 a.m. so if your dog wants to go out between those times, you have to find someplace else to go. Biggest downside - I paid in advance for three nights. I stayed one because I came from Arizona where they were having flash floods. My dog sitter could not get to my house where five of my dogs were. They absolutely refused any consideration regarding a refund.

  Nice staff, clean rooms

  The staff could not be nicer, they are accommodating and friendly. There is a large fenced grass area with a poop bag dispenser that is really nice. The hotel is set up like a motel 6 where you drive right up to your room. If you have a dog that goes crazy every time someone walks by or a car drives up this is not the place for you. The pool has a bar next to it which
  Results in a lot of drunk obnoxious people around the pool. Lots of kids also and no bathroom by the pool so i’m Guessing the pool is just a big moat of pee. You couldn’t even see the bottom so we stayed away. If you just need a dog friendly place to sleep and plan on doing other things during the day this is fine.
