We loved the location and the outdoor restaurant with heaters. We had a delicious breakfast sitting at a table with a firepit in the center. Great weather and enjoyed watching the rowing teams in the bay. Very pet friendly. They gave us a water dish for our dog too.

The location is amazing with so much to do and places to walk to. The hotel staff was very friendly and provided pet welcome gifts. We really enjoyed our stay and so did my Golden.

It’s a big resort with lots of areas to get out and walk your furry friends along the marina. We ate at the restaurant on the property. It was a nice low key grassy area where we could sip and watch the sunset on the marina while our pets relaxed on the turf. Hotel room itself was a typical hotel, very clean.

We were greeted and treated well. Our dogs loved the park and walking around the bay. The Lanai queen room was small but clean and quiet and nice. We enjoyed the firefly bar and restaurant. Great place.

The Dana was fantastic for our overnight stay with our dogs before flying out the next morning. Stored our crates for us no problem! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The hotel is dog friendly, so right there, big kudos! It has magnificent views on the bay, another big big bonus! There are even firepits on the shoreline right in front of the hotel or gas fire pits around the property! This adds to the quintessential California outdoor lifestyle that is also dog-friendly. My complaint was with housekeeping. I found hair & a drip of dried on liquid soaps on the shower wall. The hotel front desk responded correctly by offering me a new room or to send housekeeping straight up. I was unpacked and headed out for dinner, so I told them to come up while I was gone. When I returned 2 hours later, nothing had been done. So I called again and they apologized but I asked them to send someone first thing in the morning they offered 6am and I said 7:30am. When I returned to my room at about 9:30am, the bed had been made but there was still hair and soap on the shower wall. I then called again but flagged down housekeeping in the hall to point it out.
I got on the phone and when I looked again they’d removed the hair but the bright blue liquid soap drip was still there!!! Ugh! There was clearly no effort made in trying to clean completely! I was happy the hair was gone and decided a drip of soap wasn’t cooties, so I took a shower! They did waive the parking and resort fees from my bill and gave us breakfast vouchers for one morning, which was very nice. The other complaints I had were with the extremely slow (but friendly) service at the restaurant and the pool. During dinner our server returned to our table without our drinks multiple times and when asked she said she was waiting on the bartender. We didn’t get our drinks until after our appetizers were gone!
And the pool has signage “no outside food or drinks” so I came empty-handed and ordered a drink from the poolside server. I swam for a solid 40 min before my drink was brought to the pool area. The other issue that was a bummer was the beach chairs they offer as an amenity. They are the smallest and lowest chairs ever. And when my 17 year old guest (friend’s son who met up with us for a bonfire) sat in it, the seat unstitched at the seam and his but ended up in the dirt (there is no sandy beach on property, just grass and dirt fire pit areas along the shore).

This hotel was amazing, not only for my wife and I, but also our dog. The Dana on Mission Bay is in the perfect location with such a beautiful view of the bay, but more importantly was so accommodating for our dog. This hotel is extremely dog friendly. There were many dogs at the hotel during our stay, but with the amount of dogs that come to this hotel, you would never even know there were dogs in the rooms. There was absolutely no smell or trace of dogs in the rooms or on the premises. Will definitely be coming back to this hotel again, and would recommend to anyone to stay here; with dogs or without.

Close to a lot of walking paths for the baby (our dog) and close to a lot of great things for our other kids. (Boat, bike, paddle board rentals, etc) close enough to mission beach to bike and access all the great things the area offers. Ample parking, great restaurant for the dog to join us. I’ve already made a reservation to come and stay again..

The Dana was super accommodating to us and out two dogs. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are traveling with fur kids. The food at Firefly was terrific and the dining area is very relaxing. Our pups were welcomed with open arms. Great choice for a laid back hotel in the San Diego area.

My dog loved the Dana, and they even upgraded our room for no extra charge. Great big area with grass for you to run around with your dog. Nice amenities as well!

The hotel was not kept clean and there was very little security. It was overly expensive for its value. I will not stay there again.

Great location for exploring San Diego. We strolled Balboa Park and Old Town with our old boy Max, both were less than 20 minutes away. Spent a morning at Dog Beach, which is super close. The grounds of The Dana were great for strolling with Max, offering plenty of green space for Max to enjoy. The swag bag included a bowl, toy, and some treats! This will be out go-to place for future visits to San Diego.

The resort was def pet friendly! Our dog loved it and my family did too! We had such a great experience, the staff was all very friendly and the location was beautiful! They even have a pet friendly restaurant on site. We received a dog bowl and a small goodie bag which was so thoughtful and much appreciated. We will definitely be staying here again.

Nice location to stay with your fur babies, relaxing. We got the room in the second floor with marina view, my dog got scared of the stairs, had to be carried. Nice big area for them to walk around the marina, firefly restaurant is dog friendly. Tip: better to book the room with private patio, but more expensive, just open the gate and dog has access to the grass.

We had a wonderful stay at The Dana on Mission Bay! The doggy welcome bag was cute, the treats appreciated. The hotel is in a great location, service is excellent, overall a great place to stay.

Nice hotel to stay at for guests with dogs. There is plenty of space to walk your dog and a few pet relief areas. At Check In I did not receive the "Dog Arrival Kit" as described on their website. All they gave was a plastic bag with a few dog treats and a few dog waste bags.

The hotel was in a beautiful setting and was a great location for access to the dog beach in OB. We were given the welcome bag for the dog but were never given water or treats at the Firefly Restaurant— and we were there a total of five times! Maybe you had to ask? The room itself was in an older section of the resort. It had a musty smell and sand in the shower from previous residents. They did deduct the resort fee from our bill when my husband mentioned the problems, so that was nice. Would stay there again, but would pay up for a room in the newer section where there is a bay view and direct access to a large grassy area.

The Dana was amazing!!
Great location and the staff is super friendly. they even gave Kira a welcoming gift which was a water bowl. it turned out to be perfect because I actually forgot her water bowl at home so our stay there was off to a great start. Our room was on the second floor and I was a little worried about the stairs but Kira had no problem going up and down the stairs I was actually excited about having a room on the second floor because our room had a view of the marina and it was absolutely beautiful. Hi, we chose this spot because if it’s location and it’s seeming catering to our 4-legged friends. Maybe COVID-19 policies have changed things (and if so, they should specify that on their website) but there was nothing welcoming or accommodating for having pets in tow. We did eat at the onsite restaurant which had outdoor ng and Although he didn’t say anything, the sever seemed bothered by Our very small dogs and didn’t even offer water for them. We also couldn’t find The advertised dog waste bags (luckily had some in the car). Will try again post-COVID-19 because the location is great and the grounds were nice!

WE loved staying here with our guy. We moved to a bigger room because the standard was a bit tight fit. They moved us with no problem (slight price increase, but it was worth it ). He was welcomed everywhere and lots of areas to walk him.

We often visit San Diego and The Dana is our definite “go to” hotel. It’s located on Mission Bay, within minutes to the freeway, dog friendly beaches, and Sea World. It’s also has nice walking areas and a park right beside the property. On the bayside of the property, the Dana has rooms on the ground floor with a locking, gated porch that allows direct access to a large grassy area.
