    Dog area location far away

We had a wonderful stay. Only problem was that the pet area was located quite a distance from our room, so he had to poop in the driveway before we got to the pet area. It's a huge facility, but very nice with a large pool in the courtyard.

Great location, but so many things wrong with the room. Paper thin walls and ceilings make for noisy nights; TV did not work (when approached, staff did not offer a solution); lights were burnt out, and the water smelled horrible.

    Ants & thin walls

When we arrived 30 minutes after making our reservation- they said come back in an hour because it wasn’t in their system. (Even tho I had a conf #) We waited in the parking lot.
We were on the first floor, to what we though would be a great stay! We could literally hear EVERY step (more like a thump) of the 2nd floor- even when they got up at 2am to use the bathroom.

We also bought amazing cake from the Madonna Inn (you must do it!) and brought it to the room to eat later. Within an hour ANTS!!! we’re climbing all over the boxes. What the heck?!

    The beds were sub par.

Breakfast- they were out of one of the three, refusing to make more and skimped on the bacon for 1 of our servings so they could have enough for the people behind us (again not wanting to make more) Just seemed very lazy, in fact one of the workers was complaining about the laziness and how people congregating while waiting for eggs was a big no no!

This would have been a 1 Star but they had availability

I’ve def stayed at better places for the cost. But I guess SLO is a little pricey? Also the town itself... I had to go to 3 different coffee shops to find one open at 10am!! So very strange. If you can afford a better spot do it or skip staying in SLO all together.

Not the best but not the worst.

Pet area, was more like a dirt area. Giant spiders and cockroaches...other than that it was what we needed.

    Great Location

We love staying at Best Western Plus Royal Oaks Hotel in San Luis Obispo. Location is fantastic. We take our dogs to Avila Beach, Laguna Lake Park, Avila Ranch and evening Sunset Drive In Theatre. Hotel rooms are spacious with many amenities. Staff are professional and friendly.

    Our favorite SLO Hotel

Great location, close to a convenient dog park and short, open hiking area. Also enjoyed going to the nearby Drive In with our pooch.

Solid place for me and my dogs!

This place was nice - easy parking, friendly, competent staff, and free coffee. Room was quiet and clean. I'd definitely stay there again, with the dogs!

NOT exactly pet friendly, NOT logical either

    (1) The desk greeted me with your dog may not jump on the bed or furniture. If you you think that your dog will jump up, you must call housekeeping for "an animal sheet." I requested one; it turned out to be a blanket.
    (2) You may not leave your dog alone in the room.
    (3) Your dog may not enter the dining area.

As I was alone with my dog, I checked out without breakfast. Did they expect me to tie my dog to a tree, a post, or maybe leave him in my car?

    (4) The first room that I was assigned reeked of stale tobacco smoke.
    (5) The second room did not stink of tobacco, but it did smell moldy as some old, poorly ventilated building do.

    Nice, Clean, Great Location

Cleaner then average, great staff, decent enclosed dog area but 5 min walk to a huge dog park makes this an easy choice for a dog friendly stay.
