      Outrageous Pet Fee!!!

We've stayed here for years with various dogs. We've seen the pet fee go from $25 a night to now $50 a night. We will be finding somewhere else to stay with our dog because once you add the pet fee, to the resort fee, to the parking fees, to the taxes... You can easily add 50% to your advertised room rate.

We brought our golden retriever here for a short vacation to celebrate our wedding. The place was wonderful and super dog friendly!

      Could have been better

Although the Fess Parker Doubletree is gorgeous and each lower level room gives you a sense of privacy, the young lady who checked us in seemed to have a very negative attitude towards guests bringing dogs. She asked if I had read the pet policy and when I said yes, she began to grill me. Not the most welcoming experience. Thankfully we drove down to L.A. the next morning and stayed at a truly dog-friendly hotel in Beverly Hills, the Hotel Palomar which was so much more friendly and accommodating. Not surprising since it is a Kimpton Group hotel and we've had fabulous stays at the Riverplace Hotel in Portland with our 2 Boxers, which is also a Kimpton Hotel..

      Had a great stay

We just got home from a few days here and throughly enjoyed it. They made our 2 Cavaliers feel as welcomed as us. 2 restaurants allowed pets. Food and services were good. Felt the $19 daily charge to park was a little steep. Overall it's thumbs and paws up.

      Loved it!!!

Fiona my shepherd absolutely loved the milkbone treats and tennis ball in her goodie bag! Tons of rooms to play on the grounds and huge rooms! She loved the room service steak just for pups! Great location and will be back soon!!

      Maltese Loved it!!!!!!!

My dog and I had a great time. The staff was very, very friendly. The room was very clean, large and had absolutely no smell of pets. They treated my ( Charlie ) maltese like royality too. It was worth the price. I will definitely be going back very soon. What a wonderful weekend thanks to their pet friendly staff & facility.

Room size was great. The doggie treats were appreciated by our two Labs. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Trash cans for doggie "gifts" were conveniently located. We loved it and have been there many times. The only thing that might make it more convenient would be dog poop bags located at the trash cans, like in Carmel. But it is the best dog friendly hotel ever.

We loved it! We'd never stayed in a hotel before & Mom thought we'd be afraid but it was fabulous! Mom knew it would be pricey but since our parents had never taken a vacation since we were born (we are 7!) they deserved it! We had a beautiful room with a patio & ocean view. Patio wasn't enclosed so Mom had to walk us through the beautiful gardens across from the ocean whenever we needed to go (tee-hee, we are good actors, she STILL hasn't figured out when we really NEED to go or just WANT to go) but she didn't mind, and besides, it's good for her! Everyone was friendly to us; we were welcomed everywhere, even the hotel gift shop! The resort is set up with poopie bags & receptacles all over the place so no matter where we walked, it was pleasant & clean. We knew WE'D be good but thought the other dogs might be messy or loud but everyone was wonderful. The room seemed to be soundproofed so even though there was a tennis court on one side (balls!) once the door closed you couldn't hear a thing, but when you opened the patio door on the other side, we were close enough for even human ears to hear the ocean! Boarding us someplace would have cost the same as the pet fee anyway & no one would have had as much fun. Great place and SB is such a dog-friendly town! Almost every restaurant on State Street had an outside patio, fellow dog-owners were friendly & happy to exchange stories, and even many store owners welcomed us inside. Only 2 downsides, the toilet overflowed 1 nite, but staff came FAST, fixed & cleaned everything up, & Dad said the "HD" TV reception wasn't so good, but we didn't notice! It was the trip of a doggie lifetime!

Had a great time here. Great place to kick it with your dogs. Everyone is very dog friendly and the area is awesome to explore with your pets. It is pricy, but you defiantly get what you pay for.

First time at this Hotel but if we return to Santa Barbara it will be here. Our German Shepard loved loved loved it. Room was big and very comforable and the view of the Ocean from our patio was fantastic. Check in was fast and friendly and the cookies and doogie treats were impressive. We loved this Hotel

      Good Times

My husband and I took our one-year-old Boston Terrier and two-year-old Pug for a four day/three nigh retreat. We got a free upgrade to ocean view and a great doggy welcome bag upon our arrival. There were no traces of previous pet owners in our room (ie: it didn't stink, the carpet wasn't stained, etc). The "girls" had a great time roaming all the grassy areas on the property. Meanwhile, "mom and dad" had a great time staying across from the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Loved it!

      Extra Charges

Room was very nice, right next to a noisy parking lot with trucks backing up both days. Most hotels these days have free wifi. Not Fess Parker's Doubletree. Food and service was average.

      Royal Treatment for my pooches

We had a fantastic time in beautiful Santa Barbara! Upon check in, our two small Chihuahua's were greeted with a cute "doggy bag" filled with treats, toys, literature for places to eat with dogs and a pooper scooper. There was a doggy menu for dogs, and dogs could eat at the hotel restaurants on the patio! It was great! The room was gorgeous with an amazing view, and the staff was very gracious! As good as the Biltmore without the price! We loved our stay here and will definately come back!

Nice stay for all of us, but a couple of issues

We took our 80 lb. lab/mix with us over Thanksgiving and stayed at Fess Parkers. The proximity is excellent to just about everything, and the staff were very nice. My only gripes were two-fold. First, our room looked out onto a huge parking lot that was under construction (with work beginning at 8 a.m.!). They didn't warn us about this issue when we booked nor when we checked in. In fact, no mention of the "under construction" status at all, even though it forced us to park quite far away from our room and was definitely an inconvenience, even though we paid a decent fee each night to park there. And the second issue that irked me was that they charged at least $10 PER LAPTOP to get online access for only 24 hours, which I felt was pretty much a bunch of ... doesn't Holiday Inn offer free wireless even? Seems like they were making money whenever they could. Otherwise, very dog friendly and will go back. But next time I'd make sure there wasn't construction outside our patio and we didn't have to park a half-mile away!

      Beautiful and very dog friendly

I stayed here as I worked here 20 years ago (don't think it was dog friendly back then) and wanted a nice getaway. Sure, its a very expensive hotel, but it is beautiful and if you can afford it, it is well worth it. There were quite a few dogs and it seemed that we were all in the same area, which was nice as I didn't have to worry about people being uncomfortable around dogs or the occassional bark. Patios were perfect, walking distance to the beach and State Street and low pet fee.

      Fess Parker's in Santa Barbara

The property welcomed our 90 pound standard poodle. She is use to staying at upscale resorts and she was not disappointed. They have a great doggy menu and many amenities for the pooches. We will defintely be back!

My Parson Russell Terrier, Rocket, was treated as well as, or even better than a human guest! The staff at Fess Parker was very generous with the treats. The room was lovely and had a nice little patio where we could take him for his "business." Very convenient. It was wonderful to have him on a trip with us and not worry about whether he was lonesome. I'm trying to convince my partner to come back in December for his birthday!

      Great Place

Nice room on the ground floor for easy access to outside to walk the dog. Beautiful resort across the street from the beach. We will be staying here again.

      The Dogs Loved It

We had a great 3 day stay. Very dog friendly. Gift bags for the dogs at the front desk. Very nice personnel and service. My wife ordered chopped sirloin for the dogs from a room service doggy menu. I thought it was over the top but the dogs loved it!! They'd never had room service before.

      Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort

We recently stayed for a long weekend with 2 dogs. They do not have a weight limit for the dogs, and there is one building dedicated to people with pets. Although I did see pets on the patios of other buildings. No problem with pets being on the furniture, and there is even a pet menu. For the most part the other owners cleaned up after their pets, so walking the dogs was a pleasure. The staff is great, and extremly professional. One thing I learned is next time to bring 2 small barricades since the patios do not have any means of stopping the critters from roaming. Great if your pet is friendly, not great is the neighbor's pet is not. Otherwise you have to keep the pet on a leash. I would definately recommend going there. It is not inexpensive, but considering you are across from the ocean, well worth the cost.

      Fess Parkers in Santa Barbara

It was a pleasure to be there! The grounds and all the hotel was very accomidating to me and my 2 dogs. Very very good. I will definatly be back!

Nice, but watch for extra charges

FPDRSB charged a $10 unexpected over-night parking fee which disappointed us for such an expensive place (at $300 per night). They also charged us a $40 Pet "Cleaning Fee" which wasn't told to us beforehand either. I'm surprised they didn't charge for water use too! I'd try and find another hotel that's not right next to the train for that amount of money. Other than that, it was clean and nicely decorated, but so is my house.
