Safe Stay: DoubleTree by Hilton Durango has enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place, and follows the CleanStay (Hilton) cleanliness and sanitization policy. Masks and hand sanitizer are provided to guests, and rooms are disinfected between each stay and sealed after cleaning. Social distancing measures are in place, as well as physical barriers between staff and guests. Hotel staff are required to wear masks.

The hotel has nice green spaces and is on a great riverside trail. What they didnt disclose was that their "dog friendly" restaurant was closed due to Covid, and that their outdoor restaurant did not allow dogs. It made finding food with pets a lot of work.

We have now stayed here twice with our dogs.
The positives: staff was very dog friendly, easy access to the animas river trail or downtown (both great walks for our bulldogs!), rooms are big enough for crates, and dog friendly rooms are on the bottom level -- which makes it easy to get in and out for walking.
The negatives: the rooms need a little TLC, they are not well soundproofed (you can hear people at all times day or night inside your room), the pet fee, and the policy that you aren't supposed to leave your dogs behind.
Durango is an amazingly dog friendly town. We have returned to the DoubleTree, and likely would again. It is close to being a 5 bones hotel -- just needs a little updating (and a policy update too!)

We had a great stay here after a 9 hour driving day with our boy. We booked a river view room and had easy access out a private patio door to the grassy areas. The room was really spacious so we could easily play some tug and fetch to burn off the car energy. We will definitely stay here on our return trip home!
