    Great location, nothing more

Definitely needs updating, more than just aesthetic! Toilet handle broken and even after fixed, didn't flush without holding down, bathroom sink faucet besides being corroded, had no pressure, the shower had a mind of it's own, scalding to freezing and low stream to full. Toilet bowl didn't look scrubbed and there was mold all over shower curtain. Extra renters, ants and something too quick to identify! Won't be back.

    Awful Experience

We arrived to a filthy room with blood stains on the couch and carpet, a horrible smell, the doorknob to the bathroom was crumbled, and it looked like someone had kicked in the bathroom door at one point. In many years of travel, I have never had to switch hotels until this one. Given the evidence we could see with our eyes, I surely wasn’t confident in the cleanliness of this place. Then we were told that we would be refunded, which I’m still waiting to see. This is one of the worse experiences I’ve ever had with a hotel.

    Not bad

Staff was great. Room was ok, comfy bed. Lobby and hallway areas could use an update.

It was just ok. Wouldn’t go again. Little roaches in bathroom. And the carpet had lots of stains.

Have it a chance since we have a dog … BAD IDEA!!!! 1st room the dog ate something under the bed so
I went to see what it was and going sunglasses a cereal box cereal loose popcorn and soda cans under the bed! The floors were stained and the whole place is very disgusting and dirty stains all over the rugs even in hallways. Pubic hairs on the bathroom floor and urine dried all over the toilet!!! We complained and got switched to another room. Better but still drains on carpets and musty smell EVERYWHERE in the place. It was going ok until we were woken up nightly from the homeless people who plant themselves at the pool area to “ bathe” yes BATHE in the pool! They were actually down there swimming while guests were in the pool!!! The back gate doesn’t lock and apparently they know this. The breakfast is non existent as well as the gym and spa all closed. The area by the elevator smells like urine! PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR $$$$$. It’s a dump to be kind.

    Very Unprofessional

I didn't actually even get to stay in the hotel so I cannot review the actual rooms but I can say that it was very unprofessional. When I arrived at 11 PM after driving 14 hours I was told by the desk clerk "I do see we have your reservation for 4 nights but unfortunately we are shirt staffed and have no clean rooms so we don't have a room for you. And we have no hot water." I looked at her and said "And why did you all not call and let me know that?" She just shrugged and said "I don't know." Ridiculous.

This place was absolutely disgusting! The a/c was broken. The bed sheets were used. There was poop in the hallways and were told nothing could happen about that until housekeeping came in the next day. Filth is an understatement. The staff’s look if “not surprising” when we said the sheets hadn’t been changed was too disturbing. We did not stay!!

While definitely not the “lap of luxury,” LaQuinta was just right for our needs. Staff was friendly and courteous, and the bed was quite comfy. Complimentary parking on premises was also a nice convenience, as was the door to a staircase right outside our room.

    Great Walks!

I just got back from a trip to Tampa for a conference and took my husky/shepherd with me. I read all of the reviews here and decided to go with this La Quinta, as I’ve had good luck with the chain in the past and it was close to
where I needed to be. The hotel itself is old and musty, but the staff is nice (especially the housekeepers- to a person they were amazing). The hotel allows large dogs and I was able to leave Marley there while I was working (she doesn’t bark and is super friendly and mellow). We were placed in what I called ‘the dog wing’ on the first floor with other pet owners close to a door for easy access outside. The hotel provides a couple of waste stations for pet owners, but sadly it looked like most people didn’t use them- the grounds were pretty covered in dog feces.
However, for me the shining star of staying here was the great place to go for long walk/runs with Marley. The hotel (next to a string of other hotels) is off of the busy highway on an access road that leads to a business park and into a nice residential area. There is a ton of good, safe sidewalk space to go for as long as you like, and the scenery is nice. I kept the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign into the door and HGTV playing when I left, so no one bothered Marley (but the staff always asked if I needed anything). The room itself was clean,....just old and the bathroom fan had mold around it. It can be difficult to find places that take large dogs, so I may go back there - but mainly for the great walking space off of the property, as well as access to healthy eating options close by like Panera and Taziki’s. I tried to go to one of the recommended restaurants where I could take my dog, but they were slammed and It wasn’t feasible. Happy travels!

Mostly pleasant and love that they allow large dogs

Despite being a non-smoking hotel there was often a heavy stench of cigarette smoke in my room. I am not sure if it was coming from adjacent guest rooms or staff access nearby.
My second issue was with other guests and not the hotel. The hotel provides pet waste stations equipped with bags and poop dispensers which largely went unused. Unfortunately, that kind of lazy, gross and irresponsible behavior reflects badly on all of us traveling with dogs!

    Pup Approved

My humans took me to Clearwater to visit some friends and needed a place that we could all stay at. The LaQuinta fit the bill. The room was basic but had all the necessities and was clean. The staff was friendly. There are a couple of designated relief spots but, my biggest complaint is with the OTHER humans. It's tough enuf to find a place to stay with 4 legged family members ... Come On, PICK UP AFTER your pets!
