  This Rodeway Inn was the dirtiest and most unsafe feeling motel I’ve ever stayed in. More than once I contemplated leaving and sleeping in my car. If I hadn’t had My dog with me and he wasn’t already so nervous, I would have. The “non-smoking” room was very dirty and smelled like a pack of cigarettes, and when I went to the lobby to talk with the front desk about it, another man was there saying there was a rodent in his room, so I decided dirty was better than infested. There was a gaping hole in the wall. The lamp didn’t work so a bright light had been installed up in the corner near the ceiling. It was like a spotlight. The bathroom door was stuck open. The sheets were visibly soiled. There was a used razor in the bathroom and a roll of toilet paper that had obviously been wet and dried out. The towels were stained and didn’t smell clean. I had one towel and one blanket in my bag and my own pillow, so I covered the bed as best I could and attempted not to touch the linens and comforter. All I could think of was bedbugs.

  I bought some Lysol wipes and wiped every surface and the wipes were brown and black with dirt. The walls are so thin you can hear people’s conversations if they are not talking very softly. Twice, a man I did not know knocked on my door and asked to “hang ou.t” He made it clear he knew which car was mine. It sounded like the people above were throwing furniture for over an hour late in the evening (maybe 11 p.m.). The bed was super uncomfortable and squeaky, so if I rolled over I would wake up and I’m a pretty heavy sleeper normally. My dog was petrified. He hid under the desk, shaking for at least a third of our time in the room. It was utterly heartbreaking, especially when I paid $25 per night for him to be allowed in the room. Spend an extra $20 per night if you can possibly swing it, and stay ANYWHERE ELSE. This was literally the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in, and I have traveled quite a bit.
