        Bait and switch

I made this reservation in September, planning ahead for our trip, and when we arrived we found out that the La Quinta is now a Days Inn - a very old, outdated, tired and not so clean Days Inn. We had already pre-paid so there was nothing we could do. The clerk told us the rooms have been updated. That was an overstatement. The bathrooms hadn't been and other than clean towels, they were in very sad shape.
After driving all day, we didn't have the energy to deal with it, so we didn't. Wyndham should have closed this hotel and did a real renovation before putting their name on it. And it would have been very helpful for us to know about this change before we arrived so we could have changed our plan.

        Great location

Easy access to both the highway and downtown. The room was very clean and no pet odors. I will definitely stay here again.

You Get What You Pay For

Hotel was nothing special... rooms felt damp and were a bit smelly. I guess that’s the carpet and all the pets that have been through there. The beds were clean and the water was hot. It did the trick for what we needed but probably wouldn’t stay again.

They have a brand new La Quinta right in front that allows pets, it is more expensive but I would have paid for if I knew it existed.

The room were super clean. No microwave or fridge though. There is a dog "area" that runs along a road. It'd be nice if there was a fenced in dog run.
The rooms have carpet; which for a dog friendly hotel doesn't make sense.

        Horrible - Don't stay here

HORRIBLE stay. Arrived to be told about construction at hotel but was told there was no change of rooms. I was told that it would start at 9am and be no big deal, and just day one, as they would be done with the noise by the following day.
We checked into our room and couldn't hear each other as we talked and my kids needed to nap. So we left and drove around to nap the kids in the car.
We came back to the hotel late to sleep.
We were woken up by jack hammering on the floor above us at 8am the next morning (not 9am as we were told). It was soooo loud. We rushed out the door and went about our day. We tried to come back to the hotel to nap the kids and once again the noise was deafening. It was like getting a root canal. So again we tried to nap our kids in the car.
We again came back late to sleep and once again we were woken up on Saturday morning at 8am by jack hammers on the floor above us. I was not only told that it wouldn't start until 9am but also that it would be done. It wasn't.
Manager refused to speak with me and Jasmine at the front desk was rude, snippy, and very unhelpful. First, after much arguing, I was told they would credit me $15. Then after more arguing they offered $30. But that's it. The manager refused to get on the phone with me when I asked to speak with her.
This is not 100% satisfaction!! This was my worst hotel stay in almost 39 years. All I ask from a hotel is a hot shower and a good night sleep. And one of those two was not provided.

        Not bad, not great either

Stayed here the Saturday night before Thanksgiving, which happened to also be the night of a Florida football game. Hotel appeared full. Not many good places to walk the dogs but you could take a walk in the area and find some decent grassy areas. Lots of noise but that was to be expected. Room was clean and had a nice vinyl tiled space by the sink for dog bowls, etc. Our room was on the third floor but our dogs managed just fine. The front desk clerk at checkin was a champion when faced with a disgruntled customer - she deserves an award!

I was traveling alone with my dog and I pulled up and saw that all the rooms were exterior rooms. I was a single, young female traveling by myself, and I was very unhappy that no where in description does it mention that the rooms are exterior rooms. Needless to say, I found another hotel. Sorry

We arrived very late at night after driving all day. The room was very stuffy but cranked on the air and that helped. Beds were clean and very comfortable. But the room smelled nasty, not a dog smell because it's pet friendly, but a urine smell!!! I sprayed perfume in my pillow, took a Advil PM and went to bed. Not impressed at all with its level of cleanliness!!! Kept something on my feet at ALL times and even wiped my dogs feet before getting back in the car. Glad to be out in the fresh air!!!

Excellent. I was a little hesitant as this was my first time travelling with my larger (~70 lbs) dog but the La Quinta Gainesville was great! Friendly, lots of dogs (all sizes) and great staff. This is exactly 1 block off the interstate, but down a little side street which was nice and quiet (no traffic noise) and across the street from a good little Mexican restaurant (La Fiesta; very reasonable and very good for a quick lunch or dinner away from the pup). Also across the street is a Chinese restaurant...good but more moderate priced (like $20 for a dinner vs. less than $10 at the Mexican), a little slow on service and very dark (lol - leave the sunglasses home!) But the food was good!

        La Quinta seemed to put all the doggy travellers facing the side street / Mexican restaurant and most people walked their dogs in a long grassy strip between the parking lot and the street. Everyone I saw was good about picking up after their dogs too :}

I definitely felt safe at this location -- the sherrifs department is at the end of the block!

La Quinta is also 1 - 2 exits away from a dog park which was really an enclosed play area, we ended up walking across the park to an unpaved road and going for a walk on that but I liked the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, also only 1 - 2 exits away better. During the week, it was a nice 2 1/2 mile walk with the dog. It was way more crowded on the weekend and if your dog doesn't like a million people patting him on the head, I would just go during the week when it's a lot quieter.

La Quinta also offers a continential breakfast, bisquits and gravy, make your own waffles, cereal etc.

Definitely gets an excellent rating for overall convenience and friendliness -- including welcoming larger dogs without extra fee's etc.

        Very friendly and accomodating

We travel to Gainesville several times a year, and always stay at the Quinta off Newberry at I-75.
The staff are friendly, courteous, and accommodating. During our most recent stay, we asked if we could stay a few hours past checkout, because it was too hot and sunny outside to bring the dog to our meeting. The hotel clerk was happy to oblige, thus saving us a lot of trouble.
Rooms are very good, though no refrigerators. Breakfast is fine, because we can always find oatmeal and fruit. The place is always full of people and dogs.
