    Dog Lovers Beware

We booked four nights for my girlfriends birthday, and as always we traveled with our small dogs. The resort web site makes a lot of them being super dog friendly, but I called before booking to find out the restaurant situation for taking our dogs with us to lunch and dinner, rather than leave them in the room. I was advised there were two restaurants where we could take the dogs, the Beer Garden, and the Woodlands patio. All good so I booked. We arrived on a Monday to find that the beer Garden did not open for lunch, or dinner until Thursday, and were advised that it was always closed Monday thru Wednesday. So we go to Woodlands where we are told we cannot go on the patio, but can sit outside the front of the restaurant at a small table that was covered with sawdust due to the work of carpenter bees above. Not to be discouraged I called the General Manager and left a message, but a week later I am still waiting for his call. My summary of the situation is that it is a beautiful resort, with very helpful staff, but like a lot of hotels these days they want to 'be in' on the appeal of being dog friendly, charge a little extra, but really offer very little, and where it helps to sell the rooms, do NOT tell the truth. The Resort is really positioned for corporate events and large weddings, and I don't think individual guests mean that much to them, otherwise they would make more effort. Suddenly on Wednesday evening the Beer Garden came alive, but for a corporate event, not for us. We also toured the wedding facilities, but I don't think so! If you are not a dog lover the resort is very nice, but if you are I would stay away.

    Awesome!

I was looking for somewhere to be away from Hurricane Irma. Was so lucky to find this place. All the rooms are pet friendly. Lots of trails and places to exercise you dog family or just chill. We are still here and having a blast. Very casual, but white gloves service. Amazing. Where can I post some photos? They had a "Yappy Hour" for all the Hurricane Dogs. Served doggie peanut butter ice cream. Wonderful vacation for you and your dog family whether escaping a hurricane or not. We will be back!
