DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh Meadow Lands is located near I-79, adjacent to the Meadows Racetrack & Casino and a mile from Tanger Outlets, with a free shuttle to both. Interstate access puts us a half-hour drive from Pittsburgh. Each stay begins with a warm cookie on arrival, and perks include our fitness center, outdoor pool, and ballroom accommodating up to 800 people.

Our room was on the first floor. It was clean and spacious. The hotel does not offer free breakfast but there is a Starbucks next door.

Wonderful staff. Front desk attendant was lovely and very understanding when we misplaced a key card. The room looked and smelled clean. Could use a reno refresh, but overall was good for our one-night stay.

On the basics: the rooms are large, and comfortable, and everything works. I was charged a $50 deposit for the dog, but that never hit my credit card account as a permanent charge—maybe it still will, but it meant for an even better-value stay than I had been expecting. The place itself has an odd layout, I imagine because it has been extended multiple times, but that means a surprising number of steps and elevators, and it's really not clear where the front is, or even if it has a front. But, it was convent, clean, spacious, and dog-friendly. For those who care (and see my other reviews) I stayed hoping to use the car charger at the outlet mall across the road; that turns out to be up a steep hill and is not for easy walking. But, there is an Audi garage a brief, if road-side, walk away that at time of writing has a generous open-to-all charging policy.
