This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting San Luis Obispo! It does charge for parking, so keep that in mind when you go. But it was probably one of the best La Quinta’s I’ve ever been to. It even has room service from a restaurant next door. Our beds were comfortable, the bathroom was lovely. The one downside is that they don’t have very much space for our dog to go to the bathroom. But as long as your dog is okay with peeing on rocks, and then you go somewhere else for more thorough relief and fun, they’ll be fine. San Luis Obispo is full of amazing dog spots. Stay here if you have a pet and are visiting! You won’t regret it!

I suppose they gave us the best room they could for dogs (1st floor is a garage), 2nd floor and near the stair exit, but there is no pet area on the property. It's a walk across a 4 lane street, or down the block to what is a nice hidden creek area for pet doings. Otherwise, it's a great hotel, better breakfast than most, roof top pool with a view (small but again a great view), fresh rooms, and the restaurant next door fabulous. San Luis Obispo has one of the best dog parks ever at Laguna Lake (just down the road from Madonna Inn exit on Hwy 101, acres and acres with water and restrooms, lots of Doggies. Lots of dogs stay there though.

I was checked in by an employee who wasn’t helpful and left me waiting while others checked in quickly by the other front desk person. I overheard the other desk agent giving her customers details and information about the hotel while I got none. My reservation was made a month ahead and after my long check-in wait, I was given a room over the kitchen roof. The smoke from the kitchen came right into my room. When I asked for a better room I was told they were sold out, I was staying 2 nights. No solution was ever offered and no apology ever given. There is no maid service at this hotel and they are putting out a cheap brown bag of lousy food for breakfast. I don’t understand why we are paying more and getting less. No service at any point, everyone acted like they were doing me a favor.

Rooms are new and clean. I had an executive room with a sofa and balcony. No issues bringing my 50 pound mixed breed to the room. Lots of places to walk the dog nearby. Downtown is a short 5 minute drive and there are lots of places to dine outside with the dog.
