We unexpectedly ended up booking ourselves and our two dogs at the Auberge Saint Antoine on a recent visit to Québec City. They assisted us in our hour of need, when our intended accommodation was unlivable at the time. We had brought our two senior dogs along (one of whom is being treated for cancer), so we didn't think we'd all be welcomed at such a beautiful hotel. They couldn't have been more welcoming to us all and did offer us the option of pet sitting services, although we didn't avail of them. Normally, our dogs are used to rented homes or apartments, so we were very anxious about having them in a hotel environment. We didn't want staff or other guests to feel disturbed by them.
Everyday, we were all warmly greeted and the dogs received a little treat from some of the doormen.The hotel is located in the historic heart of Québec City, steps from Place Royale and the lively scene on Rue St Paul. The hotel is right next door to the Museum of Civilization, as well. There's also a wonderful park area directly across the street, which runs along the St. Lawrence River and our dogs loved going there.
The Auberge also has outstanding gastronomic offerings at Chez Muffy, which shouldn't be missed (even if you need to hire a pet sitter, we would recommend it). There is a gym and spa facilities on-site, although we didn't make use of them.
I would just advise potential visitors with pets to be aware that there are additional fees for the pets in the room. Also, be sure to pack your pets' food bowls and bedding, as it didn't appear as though these are offered by the hotel.
I will be forever thankful to the warm people we encountered at Auberge Saint Antoine. They even made a special allowance for us to check in earlier than usual, because of our special situation. We've stayed at a number of places in the city over the course of 25 + years (with and without pets) and this is by far the most beautiful accommodation in Québec City, in our opinion. They couldn't have been more hospitable to all of us, but they took an additional interest in our dogs.
They gave us a voucher for complimentary cocktails at the bar, but we didn't think we would be able to have them. We discovered that we could sit in the upper waiting area of the lobby with the dogs and sipped our drinks by the fireplace. For those with more relaxed pets than ours, it would probably be possible to fully enjoy drinks and something from the bar menu.
In the summer months, I would imagine the surrounding streets will be filled with tourists, but we were able to enjoy quiet evening strolls with our pups. The park area across the street would probably be a dream for most dogs.
My only recommendation for the Auberge might be to offer complimentary bowls and perhaps some water for the visiting pets. If there was also a special menu developed with pets in mind available for room service, it could be a nice touch. One thing we loved was the cute little door sign, alerting guests and staff that there were vacationing pets in the room. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and they turned our initial nightmare holiday into a dream. We were also celebrating our anniversary during that time, which made all of their kindness more touching for us.

The hotel had dog bowls and treats waiting in the room when we arrived. The hotel was very clean and in a great location. If you are driving, it can be slightly difficult to find, on the small ally. I would definitely stay here again. The staff and other guests didn't mind I had a dog at all. Overall great hotel.

Safe Stay: Auberge Saint-Antoine has enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place. Masks and hand sanitizer are provided to guests, and rooms are disinfected between each stay. Social distancing measures are in place, as well as physical barriers between staff and guests. Cashless payment is available. Each room has a 24-hour gap period between stays, and hotel staff are required to wear masks.
