We stayed one night while traveling from SC to Galveston, TX. The hotel is off the highway a bit but not far enough to be "too far". The folks at the reception desk were very pleasant and helpful. There is a Waffle House restaurant right next door.
However...the room itself was palatable although it was worn and could have been a bit cleaner for my taste (husband said it would do). The breakfast was mediocre.
It was very noisy after dark with loud talking, door slamming, etc. around 2 am. And we noticed there were lots of people just hanging around outside on the hotel property making us uncomfortable and uneasy when needing to take the dog outside. My assumption is there were road crews and/or oil field workers staying there which contributed to the noise and loitering.
This is not a hotel that we will visit again on trips west.
